it's not too bad! the more nervous you are, the worse it will be. Believe me, I've had it done may times. You just have to relax, close your eyes, and try not to think about what's about to happen. Read something across the room to take your mind off of it. Or talk to someone. It'll help you relax more. I'm sure the nurse will be very Gentle & try the hardest she can not to make it hurt. :) It's very quick, too. Just try not to worry about it. I hope this goes well for you! :D

No. I don't think they hurt at all. Maybe a little tingle but that's it. I am also afraid of needles. Really bad. A blood test doesn't bother me at all. Don't worry about it. The more relaxed you are the easier it will be. Good Luck.

Doesn't hurt, don't worry about it I just took my buddy a little while ago who was also very squeamish and has a thing about needles and he just didn't look and he was fine. Talk to the nurse or something to get your mind off of it and you'll be fine.

It does not hurt, although it might feel like a prick. I am squeamish also so turn your head away and don't look until they are done.

A blood test doesn't really hurt....you'll feel the pinch of the needle, just like a mosquito, and it'll be just fine after that. DO NOT WATCH if you are at all squeamish......it's the worst part. Good luck to you!

A little, just turn your head away and relax. Tense muscles make it hurt more.

it's just a little poke with a needle, if you are nervous about it, look the other way and think about something nice while they insert the needle. IF it hurts at all it's just for 1 second like a beesting, right after it won't hurt at all :)

No, it doesn't hurt at all. There's a tiny little sting when the needle first goes in, then nothing after that. Just don't look.

No, they do not hurt. Just do not watch the needle and the vacum tube, it might freak you out a bit.

They will insert a needle into a blood vessel to draw blood for the test. This may sting a little but usually doesn't hurt much. The actual test is done in a lab and you won't even be there.

Depending on your squeamishness, the best idea is to convince yourself not to move an inch and focus intently at something on the wall away from the area where the blood is being drawn. If you focus on the amount of anxiety it causes it could be a problem in the future. What is a reason that you have this anxiety? Was there an event in your life where you saw others freaking out having blood drawn. What you are doing is mimicking the same behavior as others which has been learned. The reality is that trillions of people have it done and none have died from the needle stick in itself. The more you have it done the less likely you are to feel afraid. Good luck!

The thought of a needle penetrating your skin and into your vein is not pleasant but it does not hurt. People who are scared of needles may make it seem worse than it really is. Its more of a psychological problem. I was nervous at first but after it was done it was quick and painless and I wasn't nervous the next time I had it done. That was of course when I was in 7th grade. I was still a kid.

It may hurt just a little bit. Hopefully you will get someone that is experienced and can draw your blood correctly instead of missing a vein. You should ask for some numbing cream before you have it done that way you wont feel it. I do this for my kids. Dont watch when they are drawing your blood and you will be fine.

I am a paramedic. I give needles. Look away it will only hurt for a half a second. They take blood in tubs. That doesn't hurt. Then they take the needle out also doesn't hurt. The whole test takes about 3-4 mins. You will be fine. The Pain you feel for that half a second is like a bee sting, but no after thought of pain. Yes its that fast.

It depends how good they are at doing it...
I've had lots and although they don't really hurt, its uncomfortable. I still won't look at it - not even at the needle or any of the equipment beforehand.
Sometimes it's hurt because the person doing it isn't very good - and then bruises appear the next day. But usually its all good - its over very quickly and you wont bleed or pass out or anything. Just look the other way!
