Im really glad you asked this question. Bras with underwire are not healthy!!! Please remember that. So my advice wear undwire bras only on special occasions. But do sleep in a sports bra. That is ok and it will help your **** to stay up when you are in your 20-30s. Trust me I know. |

It really depends on your bra. Bras that are tight fitting can cause problems and bras that are too loose can cause problems. It is also a personal preference. Sport bras don't have clasps that can cause pain if you sleep on your back. I recommend going to a maternity store (even if you aren't pregnant or have large boobs). I find their bras are designed to fit comfortable for nighttime sleep (no plastic on the strap, no metal claps). Even Babies-R-Us has some really nice bras for nursing that work for overnight bras because they don't have things that would dig into your skin and offer support! |

it is,, because you should let your body rest, from all the tight things you dress it up with.. like bra, panties, pants, shirts, etc, but if you don't feel confortable, use a sports bra... thay might be a little bit looser. :) |

It's not bad healthwise - it's been scientifically proven that wearing a bra to sleep does NOT leave you at a higher risk for breast cancer, or any of that nonsense. It's personal preference, really. But wearing an underwire to sleep would probably be rather uncomfortable. |

What ever works for u....i do.....sometimes i dont....sometimes it just feels good to not have that annoying strap in the back....i wouldnt say its bad...but ya... |

i think a) it would be uncomfortable having underwire digging into your ribs and b) why would you want to? A bra provides support against gravity and bouncing while walking. If you are lying down, this shouldn't be a problem. |

Yea I've heard that too [and you can get breast cancer from doing so]. But it's actually false. There's actually no difference between wearing it and not wearing it during your sleep. Choose whichever you think is comfortable. |

Actually, if you want them to stay up where they belong in years to come you are SUPPOSED to wear a bra while you sleep. But braless is much more sexy. |

It's ok. As long as it's not too tight. Some people actually prefer it. A sports bra is good to sleep in |

Ive also heard that it was bad to sleep with your bra on... something about making your boobs sagg.... however i did read somewhere that bras ( with the under wire) in general are bad for you... apparently the under wire part can cause cancer or something like that ..... i would look more into it.... |

It's best not too, because sleep is the time to let your body "breathe". But there aren't any proven risks (or benefits) to wearing a bra to bed; my OB-GYN said that while it's not the best thing to do, it's not an issue if you do, either. |

Do what you think is comfortable. |

Of course not - a bra provides support. If anything, NOT wearing a bra is bad because they are just hanging then without any support. GThink about those African tribal ladies with the saggy breasts. That is from not wearing a bra. The more you stay in a bra, the better shape your boobs will be in when you get older. Tell your mom, if NOT wearing a bra is so good, is she willing to show her perky breasts to you to prove it! Probably not...... |

There's probably nothing bad about it. But if it were me, I would only be to happy to take it off and feel free and comfortable. I don't believe it serves any purpose on or off. What ever make you happy or in this case comfortable. |

it's not bad for you.. you're not going to like stunt ur chest growth or anything. it's just uncomfortable to be squashed when you're sleeping. :) |

isn't it more comfortable to not wear it to bed? |

I think it's fine as long as it isn't an underwire bra. I used to wear a sports crop bra to bed because I read somewhere it keeps your breasts perky. Not sure if it actually made a difference though. Good luck! |

It's fine. I've been doing that since I first started wearing a bra. I'm 31 now and perky as ever, and I think wearing a bra to sleep helps to prevent sagginess. |

I sleep with mine *probably didn't need to know that XD* on and if you wear your bra a lot its less likely your breasts will get saggy and droop, and they'll perky longer |

Ok, I'm a guy, but this is an interesting question. I researched it, and there was a study done in the US a while back that linked tight bra-wearing and long-term bra wearing with breast cancer. A book was written about it: http://www.all-natural.com/dressed.html Here is their theory behind it: Bras apply pressure to the breasts, especially to the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system consists of tiny, thin-walled vessels that drain from the breast tissue, removing toxins, cell debris, cancer cells, viruses, bacteria, and other products from the breasts. All of our tissues drain through the lymphatics, which is essentially the circulatory pathway of the immune system. However, unlike arteries and veins, these vessels have no internal pressure. As a result, they are easily compressed by external pressure (a bra, for instance) leading to the congestion of the tissues that would otherwise have been drained. When a woman wears a tight bra, she subjects her breasts to pressure, closing off the lymphatic pathway from the breast to the nodes. This causes fluid build-up, swelling, tenderness and cyst formation. Toxins must be flushed out via the lymphatics. However, a bra-constricted breast cannot adequately perform this cleansing process, resulting in toxin accumulation in the breast. And here's some information on the study, it's pretty frightening: Perhaps the most convincing article I have ever read With regards to this matter is one which links breast cancer to the wearing of bras. In the " Bra and Breast Cancer Study " in the United States, it was discovered that women with breast cancer had a history of sporting tighter and longer bra-wearing than did the women who had not (yet) developed the disease. In fact, virtually all of the cancer group wore bras over 12 hours daily with 18% even sleeping with their bras which means they wore hours daily. In contrast, the comparison groups had 25% of the women either bra-free or wearing bras less than 12 hours daily. Only 3% of this group slept with their bras on. This study revealed a significant link between bras and breast cancer that is three times greater than the link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer! There was a 125 fold increase in breast cancer incidence between women who were bra-free and those who wore bras 24 hours daily. Wearing a bra over 12 hours daily conferred a 113 fold increase in breast cancer incidence! I hope this helps! -edit- To the below post, I haven't been able to find (on cnn or elsewhere) where it's been scientifically proven that wearing a tight/long term bra doesn't cause cancer, do you have the link? |
