Because of how small tics can be it depends on their size. Their are small holes in some hose so it depends. But other than that you would be pretty much protected! |

If it would be enough to keep the tick off of your legs it would help, as long as the tick has no way to be in contact with your legs, it should work, but honestly, go use spray, DEET stuff works best |

Yes, i was in the military and went to desert storm in 1991. They were one of the basic items we used to keep sand fleas off us. Also a plus it keeps all but the finest dust out of areas you don't want it. |

Of course they keep ticks from biting you. Don't pay attention to the clueless... Pantyhose provide a physical barrier they can't bit through period!!! Hunters have been using them for decades and now the American Military (men) are using them in Iraq for sand fleas. The issue about being hot is only true under pants so wear shorts and don't pay attention to what others say! You will be technically correct and pantyhose is rapidly becoming unisex anyway. Pantyhose will wick moisture from the skin (if not covered) and provide a LOWER body temp in hot weather and a warmer temperature in cold weather under pants. looks like it would by making it tougher to get into your skin, but skin so soft by Avon will work too. |

I've heard that it works. I've never tried it. I can guarantee that your legs will be slimmer, if you get the control top kind you will look slimmer too. FYI you will be much hotter. |

My nephew just came back from Iraq. He and others trained in a place called Sand Hill at Fort Polk, Louisiana; they were given a version of hose for men. The usage on the inner garment can only avoid some flea bites and absolutely no tic or scorpion bites which are prevalent in the Sand Hill region of Fort Polk. When I was at Sand Hill during the Vietnam War, the tics and scorpions were a menace. When we went to the bogs below Sand Hill, leaches got us. By the way, tics and fleas bite through the thick olive-drab army socks and they are much thicker than the hose and are made of wool. |

if you wear pantyhose the ticks will not be able to bite where hose are at,this will make them go further north and bite where you are not protected, such as belly, chest or back. |

Yes they do.....that added layer tight to you skin cannot allow the ticks penetrate. And may be just the texture of the pantyhose may not find those ticks inviting. |

I guess it would help, but pantihose are not thick enough to keep bugs out completely. Buy a spray to deter the bugs and wear thick jeans, or avoid walking in the woods at times of year when the bugs bite!!! |

If they do, then they'd just crawl to a place that has no interference and dig in!!! |

Look, if you want to dress up in pantyhose, you can go ahead and do it. If you feel guilty about it, or a little crazy, go ahead and say it's for the "mosquitoes". I don't think it would work. Maybe somehting like runner's tights that aren't quite as permeable. I hope it goes alright for you in the woods, dressed in pantyhose. hee hee hee |

If mosquitoes bite through jeans, I'm sure a pantyhose won't help... Better try some repellent. And really, would you wear pantyhoses in a hike?? |

You could do this too: Out for a walk in the woods just outside? Smear some Vapo-rub such as Vicks on your legs and arms and some on your pants before you go out. It will keep ticks from biting and may spare you from getting Lyme disease. Pesky biting insects like gnats and mosquitoes will find you offensive and venture elsewhere. They hate the smell: |

Yes, they protect you from tick bites. My friends use them all the time when the go on their multi-Day/night hunting trips in the woods. |

Of course they keep ticks from biting you. Don't pay attention to the clueless... Pantyhose provide a physical barrier they can't bit through period!!! Hunters have been using them for decades and now the American Military (men) are using them in Iraq for sand fleas. Pantyhose are excellent protection from ticks but they only cover half your body so get another barrier for the top half or use lots of "OFF". Now professional athletes are learning the benefits of compression pantyhose (Kobe Bryant, etc) so go for it..and don't get lime disease from ticks. Using hose you will not absorb chemicals in the form of bug repellents. Just wear them ignore the idiots that are stupid enough to say something... |
