Could be spinal stenosis. Does it get worse when you stand or walk and get better when you lean forward or sit?

Could be degeneration of that joint, but I've never heard of it from a-25 yr old. Talk to your doctor.

Stress to any joint has a tendency to create crystallization to become present.. is the body's way of protecting the area. When the stress is reduced, their is resorption of those crystals and normalcy is attained.

Your experience suggests some considerable structural changes were required to accommodate the extra weight.. This would show up physically by noting if the position of the feet has changed from prior to the experience. If they are noted to be pointing outward more than the usual and normal 45 degrees, there is stress, extending up that particular extremity. Need to rule out the less severe before becoming concerned with grandiose problems.

it could be post war syndrome

I would say neither. If you havent gone to a doc lately, Id go. It has everything to do with how active youve been in your life. The extra weight isnt helping you either. Id go see a doc and tell him what youve got going on and go from there. Dont go to just any doc either, go to someone that deals with bones/muscles/hips ect...

Hey...feel better.

go to the dr and get x-rays it could be degenerative joint disease (arthritis) or it could be a herniated disc in your lower back that is pushing on the nerves that run from your hips to your femurs if left untreated this could get VERY painful to the point of not being able to walk

Could be lots of different causes. Go to a doctor, but also check out alternative medicine. If your muscles in the legs or low back are tight this pulls on the tendons, the tendons attach to bones. So maybe you could use going to a massage therapist(liscened).

I highly recommend you go get that checked.

It doesn't sound to me like arthritis--unless you have a lot of inflamation with that pain. Do you get swelling there?

Arthritis isn't something you get from wearing your joints out. It is a disease where your body's immune system is attacking your joints. If you do have arthritis then you should begin treatment for it right away. There are some decent medicines (such as Embrel) that can halt joint damage. Arthitis is bad to get so young and the sooner you start treating it the better. Moderate exercise and a change in diet (mediterrian diet is suppose to be good for arthitis) may also help alleviate pain.

Good luck and get that hip checked out right away.

It's from the weight wearing down the pad that cushions the bone. It's a liner in your body, a built in cushion between the two bones. The weight that you carried in the Army has thinned the liner. You can't let yourself get heavy or use backpacks or carry any excess weight. (An example is to look at your sandals after wearing them for a year. The padding on the sandal does the same thing as this cushion in your bones. It gets really thin after the weight of walking on them over and over.) If you quit putting any excess weight on your bones, it will relieve the pressure so it won't destroy that joint. Also, be sure you report it to the armed forces. You'll have a medical claim later on as you get older, should this condition flare up again later on in life.
