Record your bp for a week.....same time everyday......our bp changes throughout the day. It can jump 30 points within seconds. It can also be raised by different factors such as exercise. Most importantly, and open conversation with your doctor is the place to start. |

According to new guidelines blood pressure below 120/70 is considered normal. 120/80 to 139/80 is considered prehypertensive Stage 1 hypertension is 140 to 160 and Stage 2 is anything above 160 (the diastolic goes up accordingly as well). Measure your blood pressure sitting down and resting for a bit as well as the same basic time for a few days to see what your average is because it fluctuates depending on what you are doing. Then you can figure out if you are hypertensive. Good Luck |

Have you been checked for this? Do you check your blood pressure and if so what has it been? The new recommended numbers are 110 and 70, anything like 120/80 and higher is considered prehypertensive...go see your doc, he will give you the best advice and info for your symptoms and condition! |

1) has your doctor diagnosed you with hypertension? Follow the advice of your physician. Only he/she knows your medical history and condition. Yahoo users do not. 2) normal blood pressure is 120/80 or less, prehypertension is 120-139/80-89, high blood pressure is 140 or higher over 90 or higher |

Hey there...... While I am not very knowledgeable in "Hypertension", here is an article on it so you can "Troubleshoot" your symptoms, followed by a link to read more on the subject. ;) GOOD LUCK TO YOU! Hypertension: Symptoms of High Blood Pressure One of the most dangerous aspects of hypertension is that you may not know that you have it. There are generally no symptoms, so you usually don't feel it. In fact, nearly one-third of people who have hypertension don't know it. The only way to find out if you have high blood pressure is to get your blood pressure checked on a regular basis. This is especially important if you have a close relative who has high blood pressure. If your blood pressure is extremely high, there may be certain symptoms to look out for, including: Severe headache Fatigue or confusion Vision problems Chest pain Difficulty breathing Irregular heartbeat Blood in the urine If you have any of these symptoms, see a doctor immediately. You could be having a hypertensive crisis that could lead to a heart attack or stroke. Untreated hypertension can lead to serious diseases, including stroke, heart disease, kidney failure and eye problems. http://www.webmd.com/content/article/96/103784.htm |

normal blood pressure is about 120/80 however depending on your age and lifestyle, this number can vairy. If the Systolic AKA Top number is considerably higher than 120, then your chances of Hypertension is high. If the Diastolic is considerably higher than 80 then that would confirm this situation. If both are lower then you have hypotension. Low blood presure. Remember that eating fatty foods that clog arteries, and having high stress in your life can also increase Hypertension. Take your blood pressure religousally. as soon as you wake up, after any vigerous activities, when completely relaxed. Keep a log of all this information, and hand in to the doctor. (Don't use the K-mart blood pressure monitors) they are not always accurate. Buy an automatic Blood pressure monitor, they are around 35.00 or so, and have someone take it for you. Do not attemt to do it yourself, as the reading wont be accurate because of additional pressure you exhurt while taking your pressure. Good old fashion Stethescope and a cuff really work the best if you know how to read it. Again do not do it yourself for accuracy purposes. ( One more thing, don't take your Blood pressure more than once on one arm. This can infact cause in accuracies as well) if you don't get it the first time, try the other arm, or wait for at least 30 minutes before taking it again on the same arm. |
