take him to a doctor that specializes in ADD/ADHD. the sooner you find out for sure then then sooner you can fix it.

my advice is to go to a good psychologist (not psychaiatrist). see what he/she has to say, and if they reccomend counseling over drugs...

Take him to a psychologist. They will be able to diagnose any issues. Sounds to me like he's just being a typical kid.

It's hard to tell at that age. If he's having trouble in school, maybe he's just not ready for a structured school program yet. I'd say talk to his doctor or take him to a psychiatrist and see if they think there's a medical problem. Maybe the kid just needs some discipline and a positive outlet for excess energy (like running around outside for a while).

my advice to you is watch the tv show the dog whisperer. you can get great advice about healthy environments. true, it's for dogs, but the basic theories also apply to children. the only person to blame when a child that young is acting out in that way is yourself. you have been a lazy parent. there is no other reason. you need to set guidelines that both children must follow and strictly inforce those guidelines. young children with short tempers are frequently insecure and afraid, and many times it is because the parents are too busy trying to explain and negotiate things with the child. a 6 year old can not comprehend explanations of why he or she shouldn't do whatever. they just don't. you can only make rules in black and white for a child that young.
i mean, he gets bad marks in kindergarten?? what does he do? eat glue? come on, the problem is in you, stop taking the easy way and thinking there is something wrong with your 6 year old. good luck
p.s. of course this does not mean there aren't any medical issues, but you would need to go to a doctor for that. and people talking about dyslexia...hello....can your boy even read yet? a child has to learn to focus first before you can find out if they have a problem with focusing. but if you want to take the easy way, sure...drug your 6 year old, i'm sure he will thank you for it as an adult.

Set up an appointment to talk to your pediatrician. You can go there with out your son. And discuss what's been going on with him. It very well may be that he just needs some dicipline. But, there's always that chance that it could be more than that. Your doc should be able to help you and will probably want to evaluate your child also. Good Luck.

check ADHD as well as dyslexia. Does your son have problems with reading or learning how to read? coordination?
My aunt has a son who was diagnosed as dyslexic. He presented very similar symptoms to the ones you are describing above. I think that you know after getting medical help. I heard that if he has indeed ADHD, treatments that use amphetamines as the solution to be quite dangerous. The first doctor my aunt saw was very much into the use of this medication. She was completely against it and found alternatives without medication. best of luck to all of you
