Nearsighted persons will have a prescript with a negative number in their power and farsighted persons have a positive or plus in their powers. I have had patients who have had higher negative powers. No one could ever say for sure what the future holds for your child but maintaining is the most important aspect in vision care. Maintain eye exams and maintain eye wear. Some people do well to maintain their eyes so that their vision doesn't get worse. I myself have had my vision improve by maintain my eye care. There really are no guarantees ,I am sorry to say. You should just try to make the most of what you do have

Ok. He wouldn't go blind but then if it is caused by the eye condition, only the eye doc can confirm it. Do check it with the eye doc

As your son's only advocate you need to arm yourself with knowledge. Discuss these questions with his dr. and keep asking the dr. questions until you understand your son's prognosis, future treatments, etc... inside and out. Then you will be fully equiped to assist him in the years ahead. Don't be intmidated by dr's, they want you to be educated and comfortable with what they are doing. Good luck!

Your question would be better served with the pediatric ophthalmologist. As a parent this can be quite a shock, but the Doctor and staff understand and will answer your concerns. Your son does need alot of correction and it will help with his development by having the glasses. Stay away from lenscrafters for his glasses. This requires a lot of skill for proper fit and accuracy. Ask the Doctor for a recommendation on where to go if they don't have their own dispensary in office.

I have same Rx -9.00 & -9.25
As he ages, these numbers will reduce.
Be sure corrective lenses are "high index" type.
Polycarbonate is best (safest) lens material
for active boy.
I recommend LensCrafters.
All other providers have disappointed me.
All (I tried 3 of them) HMO eye doctors have given me wrong prescription.
Only LensCrafters doctors got prescription right.
They offer 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Re: twitch... may be just a reaction to not having
corrective lenses. Could be something else?
Could be undiagnosed other problem, I don't know.
I have worn glasses since the year 1951 and have
much experience and knowledge in this area.
