It depends if you believe in Creationism or Evolution. If you believe in God then the chicken came first. If you believe in evolution the egg came first. Just gotta check your beliefs. |

A chicken came first and it created the egg. Same goes for humans. Whatever or whomever (god, evolution, goddess...) created us all gave us reproductive capabilities - including the egg coming from a chicken. I don't think the beginning happened with the egg - eggs don't create themselves. (Neither do chickens, but whatever created us all would not have started life with eggs or infants - they surely would have DIED all alone, unable to feed and protect themselves). |

Neither. Both were put her simultaneously by a higher alien being. How else would it happen? You can't have one without the other. |

It would have to be the chicken due to the fact that the chicken has to nest on the egg in order for it to hatch unless the egg is put in an incubater which we both know there were none when both the chicken and the egg were around |

This question is based on the assumption that only chicken's lay eggs. You did not specify which TYPE of animal's egg?? Therefore, it can only be the egg. Tee hee. |

The egg came wwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy before the chicken. Dinosaurs laid eggs. If you're talking specially about chicken eggs, lots of egg laying animals evolved to eventually make chickens, so it really depends how you look at it. Some animal similar to a chicken could have laid the egg containing the first chicken as we know it today, which technically would be a chicken egg, or that chicken would have laid the first chicken egg because a chicken has to lay a chicken egg. And now I'm totally confused with myself, so heres a quote from Harry Potter: "Which came first, the phoenix or the flame?" "...I think the answer is that a circle has no beginning." "Well reasoned." - Luna, answering the Ravenclaw riddle [ch.29][Deathly Hallows] |
