Well.........you can always take your own life. However, I would pursue other things before own life taking. I, too, feel the same way about life, and have had similar feelings on and off for a good portion of my 28 years. You can try exercise, keeping busy(hopefully with something you enjoy/find satisfying), try therapy and anti-depressants, sleep as much as possible, turn to alcohol and/or other intoxicants. Also, it depends on how long you've felt this way and how often and if there is a particular thing that made you feel down, or an ongoing situation which is depressing to you.
I've often wondered if beating the ***** out of homeless people would lift my spirits........worth a try. You might try having a meaningful relationship with a dude/chick(depending on your sex), maybe he/she would "complete" you. Though, I once had a shrink that told me I should be happy w/ myself and on my own, before looking for a chick to fill a void in my life. I'm feeling real down today and I'm probably gonna get back in bed soon.

You go on and this is why.The fact that you belive that your life is pointless tells me you care and have insight . Too many people think that their life has a point when it doesn't.. they have no insight.. and do bad things and don't care.

A pointless life is better than being dead...at least LIFE gives you choices. Try to do things for other people who need help.... you won't have so much time to think about yourself then.

I'm not kidding. Start with a big bowl of spinach. Eat it. Something in it helps the melancholy. Then see a doctor. You may just have a little chemical imbalance. Easy enough to treat. Talk to your pharmacist about who prescribes the new generation of meds . No sense seeing someone who is stuck in old ideas.
Also knock off drink (beer etc) sugar(candy) excess starches(french fries) and get in the sun every day. Let the sun beat on the back of your neck for 15 minutes(unless you are white white) or so.
Stay away from negative people as they will worsen this. Let me know how you fair .....it will get better...good sign is you asked for help and we are here and care.

Think about what could give your life meaning again. If you are feeling very down you could be suffering from depression. Talk to your doctor about how you are feeling and see if you can get some counselling. This can really help when life seems pointless.
Also, think about what gave your life meaning in the past - is this something you could regain. Or, if you have never really found a meaning for your life, start thinking about what it could be. Start with something simple; what small things do you enjoy about life. It could be listening to music, walking in the park. Start with the small things and the bigger things will follow. But I do recommend counselling.

I am in a very similar situation. My life feels pointless too. Some people suggest to learn new things. Maybe it helps but WHY should anyone learn new things when everything becomes pointless. The main problem is depression but I don't advice going to a doctor and fed up with pills. The answer is love or to fill your life with what you need (traveling, friends, satisfying job, etc).

1) Get some help, medical intervention in depressive illnesses is proven to work 2) be healthy and active this is good for your mental health 3) accept that some times things are good and sometimes they're bad and that you just have to be patient and things will pick up 4) be pro-active, try new things til you find something you enjoy or that excites you.
