its a symptom of stress, some people are affected in this way, years ago l was the same weight dropped to 45 kg, basically you need to force your self to eat something even if its half a piece of toast or a orange, you also need to try and get rid of as many things that stress you as you can for your own well being, good luck gal

People deal with stress in many different ways. Some people can't stop eating when they're stressed. Others could be given thier favorite food during a stressful time and they wouldn't touch it. That's just how people deal. :3
As long as you don't starve yourself for too long, you should be fine. ^_^ Try finding an outlet when you're feeling stressed, like listening to music or... something. When you're feeling better, try having a snack. Maybe something with a bland flavor. Just try to relieve your stress, and you should be fine.

I have the same problem when I'm stressed. It is so funny to me that when obese people are stressed they eat more and society accepts it. But when stress makes one lose their appetite it's always, "she must be sick or anorexic." People are actually easier on larger people than they are on thinner ones. The bottom line is that we all handle stress differently. And to most of the males who have commented on this subject in a negative manner.........lose the computer and get a job. Most of you wouldn't be on this site if you knew anything about women.

you just answered your own question. if it makes you sick then you know its bad! i know your more intelligent than that. plus, when you starve yourself your body goes into a starvation mode, which then your body stores as much fat as it can, so the next time you starve yourself, your body can get its source of energy from the fat storage. bad bad bad!!!

When someone is stressed out, they have a million and one things on there mind, and at the time, food isnt something you need.
But yes its bad.
Next time you get stressed out, you should do something soothing, like listening to some soothing music, while eating little by little, something small like fruits, and sooner or later, your appetie will be normal again.
good luck!

This is actually quite common. I used to have this problem where I would starve myself because I simply was not hungry due to stress. It got so bad I wouldn't go to the restroom and when I did the my feces were discolored (black and grey). Coming from a nursing student (me), remember that stress has its cumulative effects. Stress kills! When your stressed out try to engage in something to release it. I myself have finally found my outlet...swimming. I swim every other day and it really helps me to center myself. Find something to do...that would cure it.

been there.... and yup.. it is bad to stop eating. ya need the nutrients that come from food to keep ya going. stress doesnt only effect yer mind... but can have huge effects on yer physical body too. and it could lead to eating disorders
i use to not eat as a control mechanism... and after a while of not eating... i just had no appetite... and it eventually made me sick and made it harder to start eating again.
its important to eat regularly... even if its just small meals... try to make em health ones too.

We all get stressed at times. Try to keep some fresh fruit on hand like seedless grapes, navel oranges, apples. Grapes are great because their small. its not much but its something. Try drinking some warm tea and listening to some soft music to get your mind off of things. You might want to think of just taking a weekend trip by yourself or a long drive..

that's quite normal.
other's who get stressed start eating and don't know when to stop.
relax.. allow yourself to be calm before you try ingesting.. don't force it. stress does quite a bit of damage to the body over time. remember this is quite normal and always relax and if it's bad just start out with light stuff like a small bowl of soup or sip some cola.
if it's real bad and no matter what you do... doesn't get better with time.. talk to the doctor.

It is bad for you depending how long these episodes last.
Stress can cause over or under eating, and can lead to obesity or anorexia. See someone about it for your own safety

Yes. It's better to keep to a pretty steady eating schedule.
If you don't feel like eating, at least have a whole-wheat roll plus some V-8 juice; a bowl of oatmeal and juice; or a granola bar & a piece of fresh fruit & a little cheese.
It'll be better for you, in the long run.

That is really bad, but normal. I have heard a lot of people say that they eat more when they are stressed. Usually, minor stress has caused me to eat more but, major stress has caused me to stop eating completely. This happened to me not too long ago. I didn't eat for a while. I lost a lot of weight. Then, when I started to get an appetite back, everything went right through me! I had horrible stomach pains and constant diarrhea. I would not let it go on longer than a month. Get yourself to a doctor.
Before I ate, I used to drink a small cup of milk to help coat my stomach. It didn't take all of my pain away, but it helped. Vitamins were a great help too. When you do start eating again, make sure that it is healthy food. Your body will probably need some replenishing!
Remember that your physical health can make a huge impact on your mental health. Not eating right can make a person, especially a woman, depressed. Your stress could get worse on you just because your body is stressed out. Make sure that this does not last long.

That's how I am. It's like there's no appetite at all during times like that. It's not totally bad, as long as it doesn't last for a long time, like 3 days or longer at a time, saying your getting enough fluids though!!!! Take Multi-Vitamins and drink planty, til it passes.

Well, yes it is a bad thing. Food is the fuel that keeps our bodies running. If you are stressed out and not hungry at least have healthy soup, fruit, or even eggs and toast. Perhaps there is a physical answer for your problem, such as heartburn, acid reflux, etc. If this condition continues you must see your doctor. You don't give your age, discuss your problems with your parent(s). Good luck.

Make sure you drink enough water and juice though. You should talk to a counsellor or doctor if it keeps happening, or if it is affecting your sleep and daily routine.

I had a similar problem like this. I would get very depressed and would never really have an appetite, but the thing to do is to find a way to release your stress and depression such as things you enjoy to do like sports, activities, etc.

Well, since I myself have gone through this while being stressed...I must say that the professional help I received told me that not eating was in fact a bad life choice. The reason it makes you sick to eat again...is because it basically overwhelms the body's systems and well, quite frankly it begins to reject the energy received from food. So, I hope that you begin to eat regularly...because that would be healthy...and in the end...it will help with your stress because you will have the energy to want to get through the day and will therefore be a happier person.
