David H	The Oedipus Complex is just a myth and Freud is full of crap. Over the past decade he has lost almost all respect from other pyschologists. His ideas have no proof and he was a sexist who blamed most of societies mental issues on women. Its a FACT that very few psychologists actually believe much of what he thought was true. john h	You didn't say if you were married or ???? but I would guess you're a single mom. I would venture a guess that your son has a very bad inferiority complex. Is he shy, or afraid to be on his own? A lot of boys ( fortunately I was not one ) have a crush on their moms. Does he have an uncle? The kid needs a father figure to buddy around with. darkcommando456	sounds as though he is a little cofused about the role of women. does he have a positive male role model or has he been humilated by a fellow male. according to freud males develop a "romantic" feeling towards there mother as late as about 7 or so, but with proper subliminal conditioning the child learns that this is inappropriate by contact with other males. Perhaps sit down and talk to him about if he is interested in any girls at school or a similar conversation. if you are scared of him or fear his intentions in anyway you would not be a bad mother to have him evaluated by a mental heath professional.
