Is it possible to die of a broken heart?

--->&&UMMA dO ME!	well.... not literally but the reason you could have died was because your heart was broken.... i mean, you know, some people are so depressed when they are heart broken, that they end up taking their lives at times... thats a time where i guess you can say that they died from a broken heart...know what im saying?

♥.Storm Girl.♥	I'm not sure if its possible to die from a broken heart.. and as much as it hurts and u just wish the pain would go away... getting over a break up is something you have to want to do... because if you dont want to.. then you wont! I am currently getting over a break up.. well trying.. i just have to force myself every day to be positive and strong... xx

lora	It is possible to die of a broken heart. Johnny Cash died within a few months of his long-time love June. What happens is that love is as addictive as a drug and the presence of a certain person gives U that "high" feeling and when that person is gone and can no longer give U your "fix", U can die of withdrawls. Which is usually considered to give up hope.

SuddenlySimple	when something traumatic like that happens. especially if its someone close. it can weaken your heart muscles. So in a way it can kill you i guess.

vapors67	well it can lead to chronic depression which could probally kill you or make you very ill I have had my heart broken pretty bad and it hurts real bad for a while but if you just hang in there it will eventually fade

In my research I have learned that Some persons may die of broken heartedness because of a close relationship , Of a possible remembrance of him or her , Or needless to say , Some people who are obsessed with the one who has passed away or broken the relationship and contact of themselves may commit Suicide or Murder.... 2.Sometimes the reaction to it causes sudden Heart attackes Fatal Distress Or may cause one to sit in a corner and cry .... Lady Luck	Yes. I know of people who have done it...Usually spouses who have been together for 50 or more years, and after one goes, the other loses their will to live, and dies. Also, we had a bird, whose "spouse" died. He became depressed, and just gave up on life. Vet said he died from a broken heart! How sad is that!!!!!

BigJake418	I'm beginning to wonder the same thing. I've heard of it actually happening to couples who have been married for a very long time. When one of them dies first, especially the wife, the other doesn't last much longer.

Digital_Diva	I'm not sure, but it sure feels like it when you have one! Although I am now in a much better serious relationship, I was with my previous boyfriend for six years and I now can appreciate girls who are crying over a breakup! I lost my appetite, didn't want to get out of bed, cried constantly, and called him over and over and pretty much drove myself crazy. If you DO have a broken heart right now, don't worry - you will get over it. It takes time, and you need the support of friends and family, but you will get through it.

due [9/15/2008]	Yes it actually is, due to the right membrane cell in your brain which is the productive side, if that doesnt get enough expression out due to a release of your significant other aka your girlfriend/your oyfriend, you can cause that to just stop pressure to your heart. and therefore dying.

Kristta	I believe so, because when you are that depressed your body does not want to continue anymore, and the stress it puts on your body, it will slowly start to shut down. My uncle's baby died on Christmas day of SIDS in 2004, 6 months later in 2005 my aunt died on June 25, then on chirstmas day of 2006 my uncle died. I would say that my aunt and uncle died of broken hearts because they were perfectly healthy. The autopsys found nothing wrong with them either.
