Im sorry, no offense, but u surely do need to check a psychiatrist and he'll give u medication to stabilize your brain... Yes, and what will surely help... is lessons on religious education... Perhaps there are discussions conducted in ur churches nearby or something like that... Or may be u could read a bible!!! we Learn and love because our soul would be incomplete w/o it! |

It is actually very common for someone of your age to be afraid of death, after all, you are still young and have your whole life ahead of you. As you get older, death isn't such a fearful thing. I was bit like you when I was 18, but I had to reason with myself that I was going to die at some point. There is no way out of it and if I spend my life stressing about it, how can I live my life to the full. try to stop fretting.....enjoy life!!! |

Your thoughts are very very common among perfectly normal people... I figure too much time spent alone and/or not really getting up and doing things with your day are confounding factors to this. I wouldn't suggest that you suffer from depression as a result of these thoughts, but I'd certainly agree that they can have a major effect on your life while you're having them. It's a phase most people go through at some point, when they come to realise the brutal reality that they won't be here forever - realising their own mortality. I'd suggest having a chat with a counsellor or even your GP. Some people can't seem to put the thoughts to the back of their mind even after a lenghty time... these individuals may benefit from a very moderate dose of prescription medications such as Xanax, which is an anti-anxiety drug. Usually a course of low dose over perhaps 1 to 3 months is sufficient to give your mind time to put a perspective on life and ultimately help you to stop suffering from your current mindset. Once the drug is withdrawn, usually the problem ceases to be so prominent, allowing you to get on with the more important things in life, such as your family, friends, work/study, etc. Don't think you are alone anyway, there's an enormous amount of people feeling exactly like you are now. Indeed, i suffered from it myself, the Xanax helped me profoundly, and i only took it for a month. check out the link below for more info. there's loads of other similar info on the net http://www.easydeathbook.com/fear-of-dying.asp |

you're right, life IS short. So you can either fear death like you do and waste your entire life in bed scared to do anything in fear of...the inevitable. Or you can go out and ENJOY life while you still have it! To some it seems pointless, what's the point of life when you die anyways right? Look beyond that. The meaning of life itself (in my opinion) is to take the good with the bad. With life comes death. With love comes heartache. Take life as it comes, and keep a positive attitude. Everything happens for a reason, it's how you choose to REACT to it that defines who you are. So stayin in bed all day in fear you're going to die...well if that's the life you're going to live then you're already dead. |

Most people are afraid to die. read Deepak Chopra: 'life after death'. It helped ease my fears. Remember that the time you waste worrying about death you might as well have been dead. PS: DON'T use medication that's ridiculous, this is a rational fear that all human beings need to deal with. |

I am the same. Except different. I am scared of dying but not afraid to live. When we die there has got to be something after. We do have souls so where would they go. Its almost exciting. Your exactly right we do live here on earth for a very short time but you are going to make it the worst time ever if you dont go out and live your "short" life to the fullest. think about it. where is it going to get you? At least have fun. |

this is what you should do accept it...i know im going to die...me personally i want to die in some really cool way like falling from a plane or off of a cliff...i want to die and have people notice i dont want to die and have no one notice me...just because you are going to die shouldnt matter...what you should do is start doing things that make you feel like you are cheating death for a little bit, like start smoking, start bmxing, skateboarding, skydiving, it sounds to me like you need to cheat death a little in order to fully understand what it is |

your realization is one that most have, or have gotten. Death is nothing to be scared of, 23000 days i dont think is accurate, but dont look at it like that. just enjoy every moment of live, live without regret and just have fun. thats what lifes about. |

I would speak to your doctor. He may be able to give you something for anxiety. I think most of us go through periods where we are afraid of dying and what comes after. You are more than likely experiencing this bc you are about grown up and realizing that life moves very quickly. On the other hand, if your fear is controlling your life, I would think you have a real problem. I would suggest focusing on what is positive and enjoying your life, instead of dwelling on something you can't change. Also, you may want to talk to a minister in addition to your doctor. |

I was like you when I was young....it's sad too. See, the thing is, while you are on this earth, you should enjoy every single day. You are alive right now, you've made it 18 years and you will more than likely make it another 60 or so years....now think about how much time you've spent worrying about something that has not happened to you yet. How much time have you wasted fearing something that we all know is going to happen someday and when it does happen, you aren't going to know the difference anyway so it doesn't matter. You need to be a person on earth -- and remember worrying about something you have no control over is a complete waste of time, bad emotions and energy!!! |

You sound like you need a professional to get over your feelings, but I will try to help you. You have one life - live it up! why waste it worrying. Go out and do fun things. Yes, we all die, but it is so far away so don't worry about it now. |

In my opinion everyone has a life-task...and that's to enjoy the time on our earth. Isn't it a good feeling to love and be loved? You shouldn't think that much about death...it's a waste of time. Nobody knows what comes after death... But I believe that it's not the "real" end of our life! |

Enjoy life while you are 18. to think of it, how long have you lived from when your were born and now till you are 18 and the millions of things you have done. |

I would suggest you speak to a therapist or psychiatrist, sound like you may have a problem with depression. Yahoo answers isn't exactly a great place to get yourself well, go speak to a trained professional........ |

Anxiety med's can help with this. And if it makes you feel anybetter I only have between 365 days and 1095days left according to the doc. If you have insurance then you can call to get an appointment for a shrink. I know you don't wan't to call because I sure didn't but what the hell,You are going to be dead someday so whats the difference? I have felt the way you feel for many years and now I am better. Thanks to med's and a shrink. I hope you can come to peace with yourself. your friend,Lee |

i have been through this in my life aswell, the best thing you can do is seek professional advice. Please do not take this the wrong way, a mental health professional will be able to help you find ways of dealing with this phobia and hopefully you will be able to control your fear and enjoy life as you shoud. You are right, it is very scary, but we only get one chance, dont spend the whole time you are here worrying that its not long enough. It will ruin the experience for you... my suggestion is to head to a mental health professional asap.. good luck... |

Physical death comes for us all. There is no way around that. The best thing to do is life life to the fullest, and trust in God for the rest. If you believe in God, talk to Him about your fears. He will help you. Make the most of your life, make it count for something. When all you do is live in fear, you are not living at all. |

Try religion, it helps. I'm a Christian and my belief in an afterlife helps remove the fear of death because I know I'll go to a better place. |
