Start a project you've been putting off, like cleaning out a closet, dresser or rearranging something or putting miscellaneous pieces in their proper places - starting is the key - once begun, your mind should evolve toward the project and away from what is depressing you.

it can be really hard to cope with, especially when no one knows about it, you can feel very lonely
and when people do know about it they always ask you things like "are you o.k?"
"are you sure"?
it can get really frustrating!
go to your doctor and tell him about it, he will refer you to a specialist and you can get the help you need!!
in the mean time, spend your time with friends and family!
good luck!

Well you can't just say - I think I'm depressed. I mean fist of all is it serious? Have you dealt with a recent death of a loved one, or have you been ill, just been pregnant etc...
Or are you just loosely depressed - which I think we all get sometimes. As in you've had a bad day at work, maybe your having a bad day etc
''Depressed'' Is a word that needs to be used carefully... as people do suffer from depression. But people like you & me might use is everyday when were feeling a bit down.
So if you have been like this for a while or have suffered something serious - Go see a Doctor asap, or maybe see a family member, bf/gf first...
If your just having an off day - grab a bar of chocolate, put your favourite dvd on and relax!!
If I were you though - just talk to a family member/best friend first - for your own good =D Good Luck!

what you have to do is not let it get a hold of you. I suffered from really bad depression for 8 years couldn't go out didn't want to do anything then one day decided enough was enough. Something must of triggered this feeling of depression in you. What you have to remember is there is light at end of tunnel.Go to see your doc talk to him he'll know if the depression is severe enough for meds but you have to remember they don't cure only mask.Things will happen in your life that will depress you but you have to fight it things will be good trust me i've been there and come out the other end.

If you really do feel down in the dumps, it's often because you aren't spending enough time with people who are happy. Spending too much of your time with people who aren't the best with their attitudes can really make you look at your own life negatively. Get involved. Meet new people. Maybe your not the most social person. Well, strangers don't know that! Take a class locally about something that interests you, like pottery, painting, or cooking. You'll meet new people, and even if you have no talent what so ever (just take a beginner's class), you'll still have fun.
Another way to brighten your mood is to carefully watch what influences your day. For example, if all the entertainment you get is music about how unfair th world can be and movies that horrific or definitely don't have happy endings, you may be making yourself sad for no reason. Lighten up and watch a feel-good comedy with some of the new people you meet!

Depression comes from a lot of things. I would start by finding out what that is. It boils down to self esteem and being in tuned with yourself. A lot of things will not go our way forever. Life is full of trials and tribulations and it is how you handle those things that come your way. You have to believe in God and know that he won't give you no more than you can handle. It may seem overwhelming, but it is only temporary. I was depressed after my divorce. I was literally sick. I wanted to crawl under a rock and never come out. I even had thoughts of suicide and FOR WHAT? It is never that serious. I am happier now than I have ever been. I love me and you should love you. Focus on yourself and find other things to keep your mind occupied. Life is too short! You will only have one and make the most of it while you are here on this earth. Always remember there is someone in the world worst than you just drive by a cancer hospital or a grave yard. Smile and no matter what keep your head up.

If you can, talk to someone close to you like a family member or friend. Ask them if they'll go to see your Dr with you, it will be easier with someone else there to explain how you feel. If you THINK your depressed go to the Docs, But don't let him turn you away or just try and fob you off with pills. Most of the time, all you need is to offload to someone about all your hang ups. The best person to diagnose depression is a councillor or therapist. They, if they think you need it, will put you in touch with the right person to help. But the only way to see any one like this is usually if your doc refers you to them. That is unless you can afford to see someone privately. Good luck sweet, hope your well! M x

best advice is go see your GP...it may not be depression.
do you normally get it this time of year...if your Uk...it could be cos of the days and nights getting darker and you may have SAD (seasonal affected disorder) which is pretty easy to help.
depression is a looooot harder to deal with....but please go see your doctor ASAP...better to be safe than sorry!

Depends whether it is temporary or not. If it has been creeping on for a while go to GP get happy pills and counselling and after a while you will feel better!
If it is sudden then I would suggest comfort food, movie and duvet day!

Get help! find a free clinic if you don't have insurance!! Really, you need someone to talk to. Why do yo think psychologist are RICH?? They help! Also, if it is a chemical imbalance try L-Tyrosine in the morning with a B-complex 30 min. later. They're vitamins, so it's natural stuff. They-together- help fight depression.

Get off of the computer, find a therapist to talk to and work to feel better.
Getting out in the fresh air, exercising and doing some things for others can take you away from the depressed and lost feeling.
There are always others in the world who need our help and time and doing something positive will increase your feelings of self-worth. This activity will build up positive chemical reactions in your bloodstream which will lessen the depression.

SPEAK!!!
If your depressed the worse thing is to keep it inside.
Wether its a relative, friend, doctor or work collegue then talk to them
Once the feelings are shared with others its such a relief.
I suffered with post natal depression badly and now Im back on track with support from my doctor and parents and partner.

Try to find a therapist. Even if you don't go for more than a few sessions you might find that it will help a little and of course the therapist will be able to tell you for sure if you're depressed or not.

Definitely talk to your doctor about it. He or she will determine if in fact you are depressed and formulate a plan for you to help bring you back to health. Could be medication and/or therapy.

Go to the dr. now. Not to scare you but depression can worsen quickly, start doing something about it now before you don't have the will/desire to help yourself later. There is no shame in asking for a little help every now and then, even if it comes in pill form.
