No thats not true, if this were true whats the max capacity? Lets say you only had 30 memories, you really think you'll be able to hold a LIFE TIME worth of experience in just 30? No way.......Human mind is endless :) LOL I still have memories from when I was 5 years old, other things I guess I didnt think were so meaningful or I wasnt paying attention, but generally if you REALLY REALLY think about it or something 'triggers' the event, you will be reminded of it :)

Yes it is true. Try real hard not to have any original thoughts that way you won't forget anything. You will likely go right to the top of the corporate world as well.

Your brain can hold more memories than you'll ever be able to create. Even if you lived for 500 years.

Your brain remembers in your short term memory that way. As you put in info, the old stuff just slides out the other side. But the things that are important for you, either on purpose or automatically get sent to long term memory for storage as long as you live. Some of these memories may fade or become corrupted but if they are used regularly they should remain clear all of your life.
The memories are stored in parts according to what type they are. Like if you see a woman singing you will store different parts of the sight as say vertical lines in one part of the brain and the color in another, certain tones in one area and others in another, etc... You will remember she was pretty in another place and the day you heard it will be stored in a different place and way. The brain is really complex in the way it works, and the fact that it can store a life time of memories is amazing, but true.
If I am wrong you will forget this as soon as your brain is full and starts dumping the old stuff so no harm done...

no. memories don't "go out" but they fade or are stored in temporary memory. long term memory is tricky, as it can mean remembering the name of your own child orrrrrr the color of a beautiful girl's hair at a bus stop ten years ago. it just depends on how it registers, man.
if you're so paranoid on losing memories, may i suggest taking photographs or keeping a journal.

The brain has so much unused capacity that there is no danger of an information overload.

NO! the more you learn, the more your brain can retain. As you learn more, your brain develops more folds, which is apparently where memories and facts are retained. The more wrinkles on your brain, the smarter you are. its amazing, and nobody knows how it works, but its true

your mind is very large and you only use about 10% of it... I'm sure there's room for more memories...maybe you don't always think about them, but they're there somewhere... like you know those people who have a traumatic experience and they don't remember things that happened? but then all of a sudden they do remember? the memory didn't just reappear out of nowhere...it was always there...
same with you...your memories are yours forever...sure, that 10% of your mind can't be thinking of all of it at once, but you'll get a trigger that reminds you...

memories fade however unless you damage your brain somehow they should still be there regardless of what goes in...the brain can store an amazing amount of information.

The brain works like a high fidelity recording. Back in the 30,s Freud theorized from his clinical practice that memories were never lost and could be recalled by a person under hypnosis or with some voluntary effort. In the 50, s Dr. Penfield , a neurosurgeon , proved Freud's theory correct by stimulating a persons brain in waking during brain surgery. Penfield stimulated specific areas of a patients brain using a probe with slight electric charge. His subjects had vivid recollections of long past events supposedly forgotten long ago. For more info on the subject read Dr. Eric's Berne "I'm ok your ok"

God designed and created the brain to have an unlimited capacity to store information. We never really use even half our brain power in life.
Unlike man's design of a computer which is limited in storage, God does not create junk!
Rest assured even as we age our thoughts may get a bit fuzzy. But God still sits on the Throne watching out over all his people.

not really....think of it this way....when u are a child, your brain is like a school blackboard, all black, nothing is written there...as soon as u are able to do things and remember, is like writting in the blackboard, but without erasing anything, so daily, your thoughts, experiences, conversations and all that, is being accumulated in your brain....by the time u are an adult, you have so much written in that blackboard, that to think what u did in 1987, for the whole year, sometimes u can do the search, it's too much there...sometimes u will not remember what u did, or said...the brain is not like a computer, that u can update or delete anything...but it is like a harddrive, that you cannot get rid of things, you just forget or memories fade away in time.
this is my own theory, the brain and how it works to me is still a mystery.
