I feel like there's no point to life.?
|
Okay, I'm just going to blab a bit, if anyone can figure out what's going on in my head, please notify me, because I have no clue.
I am 15 years old, and I have no idea what is going on. I'm feeling drained and depressed more and more often.
I'm tired of feeling so depressed. I'm not like this all the time, I have some fun times too. But since 9th grade started, I feel like there is really no point to life: we're born, we live, we die. I hate this belief but I can't shake it. I really just want to be happy. That seems impossible right now though. I feel like I'm missing out, while alot of other people are having a great time. I don't want to waste a day of my short life, but I can't find anything to do with it.
I'm just confused.

basically your coming to a sad realization that life is temporary and nothing is permanent. But you are forgetting about the first point in life, go down in history, be it by starting a family, becoming memorable by doing something greatly important, or just doing your part for the next generation. If you give up now... you will fail. so dont give up hope, and keep on trying, never divert your eyes from your goals, no matter how small they may be

You should realize that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God.
You should try to find a good Bible belieiving church and get into God's Word. It is full of encouragement and it is full of TRUTH! It is definitely a confidence builder when you see who you are in Christ....after you give your life to Him!
Take care and smile!

i seriously had that same feeling. i was going through a rough time and always felt horrible.... i just talked to my bff about it and she seemed to know exactly what to say....everyone will tell you talk to your parents, or go to a doctor. but really if you have super good friend just talk to them about it. they always seem how to make things right. i dont think a stranger from the internet will really be able to tell you exactly what to do. you need to go to someone you trust and love. good luck! feel better!

It's normal to feel like this for a while. I mean, your going through a big transition right now...from girl to woman. You've got hormones going crazy, pressure from friends, pressure from parent, pressure from yourself. I can tell from the way you constructed your question that you are intelligent and mature. Maybe more so than those around you so you feel like fish out of water.
I am a little worried that you say you are always tired. That might be a sign of depression. If this does not get better soon you might need to talk to a doctor. You are at a risky age for drug use now. Please don't get caught up in trying to "escape" with drugs and alcohol. Any problems or hopeless you feel now will be waiting for you 10-fold once you come down from your high.
I have times of depression. Sometime you just cannot control how you feel. But you can ALWAYS control how you act. This might sound crazy but when I really feel low, I force myself to skip. I mean actually skip around the house! It is impossible for me to feel bad when I skip! Before I know it, the mood has passed. I know that when I feel bad, if I just gave into it and layed in front of the TV I would be there 2 hours later and just feel even more depressed.
It might help if you set some goals for yourself...something to set your sites on and bring purpose to your life. Here is a wild idea... What would you think about spending a year abroad as a foreign exchange student? That would give you something to look forward to and offer some hope of a little escape and the experience of a new world. I wish I had done something like that when I was in high school. And it would look good on your resume!!
I wish you luck. PS don't be afraid to talk to your parents about all these emotions!

im 13 right now, having a similar problem, its because theres nothing new anymore, 15 is actually the laziest age, and our schools make us work a lot harder at the wrong time. you have to find something new such as going to a new entertainment park or driving a car (thats a few months away for you), i was kinda drained for a few weeks but all you have to do is find another great memory, which may take a while sometimes.

Being a teenager is really tough, but being a depressed teenager is even worse. You need to see a proffessional and sort things out while your still young. Remember at your age the brain is still forming, you are still growing and there is a lot more in life to learn. You will do a lot of maturing in the coming years and you will start to firgure things out.

take a moral inventory of both what is good and bad in your life. it can be surprising to realize how many things are right ... we just don't always see them.
ask parents about counseling for you. it's not just for crazy people. i believe everyone can use it from time to time.

It's true that we're born, we live, and we die, but the key word there is LIVE. You have to find what awakens the feelings of passion and fire within you. Then DO it. Pursue it, because if you follow what you love, not knowing how you're going to do it but being unwaveringly sure that you're going to succeed, then you WILL. Do some soul-searching.

Well, I felt the same way back then too. but I realized there was more to what I was telling everyone. Not that you are leaving anything out.
Life isn't short. Go on and live life looking forward to what you are going to do tomorrow. and not what you are going to do that day. Because that is what you should be concerned about. If you feel like your wasting the day then be prepared for it one day in advanced. (But don't spend ALL day thinking about what you are going to do tomorrow)
The point to life is to set a good example for the people that are coming after you. You are born, you live a great life, you die feeling satisfied.

Woah.
Creepy moment there. I felt the same exact way just a few weeks ago!
Okay, for 3 months I kept on acting sad, thinking about life and how we die and everything that you said.
Then I went out and had fun for one night with all of my friends. We had a great time, and I laughed in what felt like years.
Now, I feel much better, and I'm getting back into my regular schedule. I'm not usually such a depressing person, but I think it's just a stage in life that everyone goes through. I went through it, you're going through it right now...
Please, don't think about suiside or anything. Go out and have a great time with family or friends. Listen to some new songs. Do something crazy, like get your hair cut (I did right after I felt better) or eat a whole cake.
Do whatever you feel like, and enjoy it.
Yes, life's short.
Yes, we don't have time to do everything we want to.
And yes, we are going to die someday.
But think of living in the now. You're young, I'm young, we still have so much left to live for.
I hope this make you feel better.

You just need to find a reason to live.
I felt like you but after these I AM SO MUCH BETTER
1. Good music- i recommend Gym Class Heroes, Amy Winehouse, and Michael Buble
2. Good Reading: I recommend- Francesca Lia Block, and fun novels like Gossip Girl
3. Poetry: I recommend Andrea Gibson, Shihan and Shel Silverstein (search the on youtube)
4. Good Friends- Email me, and put yourself out there you can meet great people
You need a more full, fun life, yes we all die eventually- but don't we want our lives to mean something? If not for us, but for those who couldn't?

There is definitely a point to your life hun! You and only you can do whatever it is that you were put on this Earth for. The problem is, being a teen is tricky bc your brain is not fully develped and you are getting more and more hormones and chemicals. Teens also suffer more from lack of serotonin, the chemical that helps you feel good and happy. I went through this at ur age too, it sucked soooo bad! My mom sent me to a therapist and I hated it. I'm 30 now and can say that there is a reason to live. I went through a divorce and battled feeling that way again but this time I stood up to it and went out and found people who were less fortunate and helped them. I sponsored an orphanage in Thailand and just knowing that little old me is making just a teeny difference helped me feel better. Try writing, a new sport, cooking new foods, volunteering, and reading. I just read "The Alchemist" and its a short fiction book that deals with finding ones Personal Legend. It's a good read, pick it up sometime. Just hang in there and you'll get through this. Try to keep your eyes fixed on a goal and remember that one day you just might have kids to and they might face the same issues. Thats why we go through things like this, so we are better able to help others make it through too. Take care!!!!

It's normal, going through an identity crisis. Just use your output for stress, whatever it might be. You're going to feel really crappy for the next couple days, then you are going to appreciate little things in life. Then, it's going to go away like a bad dream.

First of all honey, Happiness is a Decision!
Not a Symptom of a Disease!
Each Day you wake, You have a CHOICE!
Love it or HATE it!
It is all up to YOU!
You will decide your day!
Whether you know it or not!
Eat good, rest well and each Day gets better!
Take care! Good luck!

"What's the point ?" ---- exactly the same line of question asked in the first episode of Boston Legal, Season 1...maybe you should check it out....same in the movie "Rebel Without a Cause" ---- James Dean was self-destructing , dead drunk...the old man allowed him to sleep and said to the people around looking concerned...."There's nothing wrong with, his problem is he's way too young to understand" ....at 15, if you have an idea of what's going on, then tht I guess is the right time for you to ask that question

The truth is that God is necessary for life to have a point or purpose. Here is what one brilliant atheist had to say:
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell
That is a fact that won't ever completely go away. We can busy our lives with careers, marriage, kids, hobbies and sports but they are all to keep us from thinking about a meaningless existence. Happiness is the same as not thinking about death and a pointless life. We long for joy but without God, we have to settle for busyness.
But the Christian idea is that God created us to be His sons and daughters and for us to seek Him and find Him. To seek God is the greatest adventure of all time.

You're either going EMO, Pregnant, or a normal teen. Most teens feel like you so don't feel bad. All teens have problems. You can waste your time by playing the online sensation of World of Warcraft. I started playing it at the mid of 9th grade and it really helps waste time.

Think of it this way - you were born to live and die, BUT in the mean time you have been given a challenge and opportunity.
You are suppose to see how much you can do with the time you have. How much can you infulenance others and how much can you make out of this "travel". Go for it, when you feel tired and down, think to yourself what should or COULD you be doing, pick up the phone, call a friend, where should you volunteer? There is stuff out there with your name on it....go find it...

It's because you are either at the end of middle school or your first year at high school. (freshman year, we were on high school campus) Because the sociology and dynamics there are already developed, you might feel a little like an outsider and just going through the motions. Try to get involved just a little more, get more comfortable. Stay tight with your known friends and treat it as more of an adventure. I can't promise you will feel better immediately, but you will soon. Any drastic change from routine can cause you to shut down a bit.

have fun, make friends, find a hobby and interests. All these things can help make ur life meaningful. interests will then lead to a job and jobs lead to money. if you make friends and find things that you are interested in, then your life will seem more fun and worth living. you will start to appreciate it more.

I totally know how your feeling, I have been there many times. I think this is more a spiritual issue than a physical one. Your soul is lacking God. You need to have faith, because life is hopeless with a belief. Science has yet to prove that a person doesn't have a soul. Jesus Christ is truth, and I would suggest you read the bible and find that truth, I have and I'm much happier, and I have a reason for life and eternity. A far cry from where I was at when I was suicidal all through my teen years. God gave me another chance at life, and now i see why. I can't explain it, its a miracle!
