All the more reason to enjoy life. You only get one chance at life-- make it good. If you're too freaked out to make it good for yourself make it good for others, and ironically then you'll make it good for yourself then, too. Take responsibilities and do a good job fulfilling them and you'll be too busy to be obsessing about death.
There are lots of people who fight for life every day, or think of the people trying to stay alive in the Halocaust or present day
Burma, they would give a lot to have freedoms and opportunities that you have. Make the most of what you have. Do great things!!

Yes death is a part of life! But if you are obsessing over it your life will be miserable. The best way to cope with it is to seek a minister. . He/she will be able to put your mind at ease. I can guarantee that! I used to be scared of death. After talking to ministers- I'm not afraid at all now. Chances are if you are a young healthy person- you will live a long life. Stay away from friends who want you to do stupid things like- Driving recklessly, drugs, drinking. I know this is a serious problem for you- but I promise it will get easier.

You should not be thinking about this. I believe it is enough that we are all aware, that we must all go through this process one day. In the meantime, you should enjoy your life to the fullest. You don't know when this day will come so this should not be a problem for you. Life has its own daily problems that we need to deal with. That should be enough for now. Also, perhaps you are going through a phase of something and if this is so, this will pass. You should get busy with positive things and keep outdoor activities on your schedule. You do not need to worry about this, and this day is not near, and you should not fear this at this time in your life.

I was exactly like this, one day it was like i suddenly realized my own mortality and thought about the fact that eventually ill die or the people i love will die and give it a few hundred years and there'll be no trace left of me, like i never existed. then i started thinkin give it a few million years and the earth may eventually die taking all evidence of human existence with it and it would be like did we ever exist? like a tree falling in the forest with no one around to hear it...anyway i was petrified of this realization for ages until gradually i just had to get on with life, I'm OK again now but every so often the thought creeps back in a scares the heck out of me! x

Well, if you are told your life will not be long and perhaps quite short, you can allow yourself to think about all this. I cried a lot and found it hard to function well in the beginning. As I go along with this I am much calmer. I talk to my family and close friends. I am fortunate for the supports I have. I am trying to live my life as best I can until I can't.

every one knows that they are going to die one day, so they just accept it thinking it wont be any time soon.
you dont talk about it though, cause it hurts to loose a loved one.
but if all of a sudden you do to the doctors and find out that you have cancer or some other serious illness like that, yes it may be harder to function that usual.

Because it really is a topic that we have NO control over. It is in God's hands. Be thankful for everyday that you are alive and live each day as if it was your last one.

They don't know what death brings to them (they have certain beliefs), there is no point of talking about it to much because it stops you from living your life to the max, and because you don't know the exact hour of your death. I think that living your life scares the heck out of you as well, to the point you're wasting your time by thinking about something that'll happen to you and me and everyone else anyway, no matter how scared we may be of it. So instead of being scared, choose not to be scared, accept death as something inevitable, or do a research on how different cultures and religion perceive death, perhaps you'll find something there that will put your mind at ease.

I buried my father on January 8th and had to come face to face with this very issue. I was there with my father when he passed. I am also expecting my third child and, for me, it was such a miracle to be part of the two miracles of life at the same time. That's how I encourage you to look at death...we come into this world from "somewhere" and we'll exit this world to "somewhere" else when we die.

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting,
And cometh from afar:
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home
By William Worsworth
When we die we will go back to God where we came from because of Jesus Christ 's atonement.

I would see a professional if you are thinking about death too often. You could suffer from anxiety or any number of problems. Death crosses everyones mind occasionally and it is scary. You can't live if you are constantly thinking about death.
You deffinately need to see a professional if you are obsessing. Because as you say, most people don't talk about it, because it is not at the forefront of their mind, and for good reason.

Because today you are ALIVE. That's why you try to live each day to the fullest.
I've learned in relationships-ALL relationships-this is why you have to be very careful about what you say..it may be the last words someone hears.....
I never let my husband leave angry (though we rarely argue) and I always tell my mother that I love her.
I worry about death----not my own---of those that Iove...that's why I LOVE THEM everyday that I have them.

If you obsess over death its because you have no hope for your life, or belief in your existence outside your body.
You have two choices. Either accept the fact that you have 80 years in which to make yourself happy, and stop wasting time over knowing its going to end. Or find faith in the belief that you are eternal, and your body is a house which is not, and when it dies you will go on.
Or, adversely you could just go on freaking out and doing nothing with yourself and die anyhow.

you function simply by accepting the fact that it happens to everyone and it is simply inevitable there is nothing you can do to prevent or halt death. the only thing you can do is live life to the fullest and take care of ourselves ie dont do things that harm health--drinking smoking drugs driving recklessly. also eating well and exercise promotes life longevity.

I know, it's hard to think about.
My mother died a year ago and it makes it that much worse when someone close to you dies.
But, you can't live your life thinking about death or it'll pass you by.
