Wacko Psychologist Tom Cruise says that there is no such thing as a mental disorder and that you are just being told that you have panick attacks. Please, trust Tom Cruise and his GED, he "know(s) the history of psychology." Follow the advice of a Scientologist that believes that Aliens are comming to enslave us soon. Our Hollywood stars are never wrong.

You need to see a psychotherapist, psychologist or a doctor. Trust me, it will help, and it's the best thing you can do, it really is. Do NOT try alchohol, not only will it not help, it might give you more problems. Good luck!!

You should visit Webmd.com and search panic attacks. You need to find out what's causing them. Once that is discovered you may be able to treat this with relaxation techniques depending on what it is. Medicine in my opinion is a danger, esp. newer meds. They have many side affects that you may experience. Take 10 minutes to breath alone, away from the stresses of your day. Do this every day as many times as you can.

The Bach flower remedies are actually wonderful and are all natural. Each one can be taken for different things, they do have specific remedies for panic attacks, but try with their general spray first, their standard Bach remedy one, and spray on your tongue every time you feel stressed. It really does work so well to calm you down, and is recognised even by the medical profession as a great treatment.

Klonopin!! It is an anti-anxiety drug. Works great, but be careful, it's addictive. Good luck!

1st of all, go see a doctor. They may prescribe different things. Mine prescribed Xanax for the immediate relief of panic attacks and then put me on lexapro which totally helped get rid of anxiety and panic attacks. It may take a few different meds to find one that works best for you, but keep trying and I highly suggest exercising alot....exercise really helps with anxiety and panic attacks...

HEY! LISSTEN! YOU MAY NOT NEED DRUGS. TRY THIS FIRST!!!!Yes. It seems odd. ButIT WORKS!!! It is a way of resetting your energy meridians. It took me twenty minutes to read the intro and explanation, ten minutes to memorize the sequence. You can just read the first part of the training literature on Adobe, on screen and just print the re-cap page for Part One... It envolves tapping points with your fingers. The routine takes maybe 6 minutes to do. It usually works instantly. Sometimes, more than once. You'll find other emotions to neutralize. GO TO EMOFREE.COM. Page one, click link "Start with 'What is EFT'?" On next page scroll down a ways and click link "Free get started package." Then read part one. All you need is there. Be patient. Gary is long-winded. Dude, IT WORKS!

Try controlling your breathing - and not drinking caffiene. When I feel an incipient panic attack I take a bathroom break, go somewhere quiet, and breathe slowly in through my nose and out through my mouth. Not so slowly it's painful, but slower than you were breathing. Focus on the thought of a blank piece of paper - now it's covered in scribbles - with your breathing, blow all of those scribbles away gradually until you are envisioning only the blank piece of paper. Hold this image in your mind's eye and open your eyes. Take a minute to get back into the swing of things mentally (if you just run back to work, you will feel worse) and think of something good about yourself or your day or your life. Return to work (school, etc.) with no one the wiser and in a much better, calmer mood.
And cut out the caffiene. It will definitely cause panic attacks. More than 200 mg. caffiene a day (two cups of relatively strong coffee) can make you freak out, especially if you have a tendency to do so already.

Try changing your diet if you do not want to take medicine.. Caffeine can bring on panic attacks, lack of sleep and just not taking time for yourself... Try and take time to relax.. Yoga, streching and working out will help as well... Just remember to breath and don't let your mind get the best of you...

I had panic attacks. I don't take anything for them. When I did. I didn't like the side affects from the medication.
I fould that if I medation works for me. In the past 6 yrs, I only had 4 of them. Instead of several a month.
I breath deeply and work through the stress that is causing the panic attack. I find a quiet space. There are books on how to do this.
But if you are depressed and having panic attacks, I would still see a doctor. A good counselor can help without go to a doctor for medication. We have become a pill popping society. Becareful what you do get if it is a pill.

I have had panic and anxiety attacks for nearly 13 years.
I was SO bad I couldn't even take meds. Till I was introduced to Ativan.
It won't fix you but It gives you a break from it.
The really cool thing was I didn't feel like I was on anyhting. It just kept me from having anxiety. Amazing stuff and unfortunately Highly addictive because of its amazingness.
After my experiences I gained this theory:
Something in your life causes it. Job, girlfriend, family, hell it can be anything that stresses you bad. I think that repeated stress may cause a break down in the chemicals in your brain that help you cope.
If you can get a long enough break or figure out the cause and fix it then you will be able to get back on your feet again.
Ultimately Life changes made me better but Ativan helped me get through some tough times.
I had tried a number of other Depression meds like Paxil and others but nothing worked. (I wasn't depressed so I wasn't suprised.) Some of them made me worse or gave me depression.
One thing is for sure, you are not alone with this.

I would speak to your physician about possible medications to take. He might suggest counseling to try to manage these emotions, especially if they are situational.
There are several kinds of med alternatives. One is a long-term depression/anxiety medication that you take each day (such as Prozac). Another variety is the med you take for acute attacks of panic and anxiety (such as Ativan).
Either way, you will need a prescription and to get one you need to see a doctor.

Alot of good advice here, but the truth is that diferent drugs work differently on everybody, only you and you Dr. can decide what is best for you based on your symptoms, history and allergies. There are alot of antianxiety drugs out there. klonpin, Vistaril, Valium, Ativan, simvalta(sp)? Slow, contolled, relaxed, In through your nose and out through your mouth breathing helps sometimes.AND NO CAFFINE!!! caffine increases anxiety!!
