Ok I had the same problem. Do not go cold turcky it does not work. try limiting yourself to once a day. Then when you can control yourself that much try once every three days. so on and so fourth until you are only doing it once every week or two. then just stop. also try to take things out of your life that make you want to masturbate like girls that say they will have sex with you ect. ect.

Don't worry so much about the sin aspect, you should stop (or at least cut way back) before it ruins your life. Doing it that often will lead to you not doing other things. You will not have a lot of friends and you will not meet girls. You will not get layed and you will get frustrated. Eventually, you will think of seriously bizarre things to get yourself off and you won't be able to masturbate very often.
While masturbation is normal at some level, it is very easy to over do it and mess things up. Most people don't even realize that a lot of masturbation over a long period of time can have a damaging effect on a person. So, cut way back. Maybe once or twice a week.

NO seriously think about this the bible was written over 2000 years ago times have deffinitly changed an god takes that into concideration there is so much stuff out there its not a sin and if it is its not a very big one not something you should be worrying about, The only reason its a sin is because its done by yourself and said to be selfish iw ouldnt worry to much about it if you really want to stop and feel like you need to ask for forgivness from god you can talk to your preist in the confessional.

whoa man 2-3 times a day? that's over doing it. Anyway....yeah go ahead. Its OK too feel sexual pleasure. Maby it was just you're teacher who said its wrong. But, I also heard in religion related stuff that we are all born sexually and God gave us a gift. We may use that gift anyway we want. Unless you're selling you're body off the street or something.
If you still are confused maby try cutting back. 2-3 times a day is alot. Maby once everyother day or twice a week.....

I'm a Catholic, too, and I jack it at least a couple times a day myself. Don't worry about it. I can't imagine God cares if you play with the goodies he gave you.
The Ten Commandments are a basic good outline of how one should live your life - and there's nothing in those about tickling-the-turkey. Enjoy!

Just continue until you get sick and tired of being sick and tired.. I use to masturbate at least 2or 3 times a week. now I probably do it once a month..Now that you know it's a sin, your conscience is not going to allow you to continue to commit the sin. until then just try and not do it so much..

If you are a free thinker like I am, and yes, I am also a Catholic, you will understand that the male body is made to ejaculate. If it does not happen from masturbation or sex, it's just going to happen from a nocturnal emission (wet dream). Frequent ejaculations also relieve pent up sexual tension, reduces stress, and some studies indicate that it may reduce the risk of prostrate cancer.
So.... why would God make your body to preform this function, then tell you you ain't supposed to do it? For me, what I think matters the most is that you don't let masturbation become a domineering factor in your life, as long as you don't let it interfere with your normal daily activitys and social interactions, keep it private and clean up after yourself, I don't think God is going to doom you to Hell. I am sure you have done some things in your life far worse then masturbating.

although i do respect people religions.
i cannot not have any respect for hypocrites.i know some of the catholic religeon and they were both alcoholic children abusers..how many priests have you heard about on the news that are pedafiles..mastubation is completely normal and healthy.Dont let any religeon make you feel guilty or sinful.Also in many other religeons the same thing happens a lot.You should follow your heart and soul in descions in your life..but dont be brainwashed into someone making you feel dirty and sinful for being the normal person you are

excus eme but I am goign to tell you somethign not many people want to hear - go read your bible and find the passages where god or jesus spell out that masturbation is a a sin. And if you cannot find one go ask your priest to cite specific passages that are the word of god (not merely the laws of man).
My guess from my reading of th ebible is neither you nor yoru priest can find any reference to masturbation in th e10 commandments or in th eteachings of jesus. The best any of you are goign to come up with is some obscure reference to spilling one's seed on the ground being a bad thing. But if you read the entire context of that one you will see that was a rule of man that was correct under the political, economic, social and other conditions at the time. However it is not against masturbation; it is opposed to a man who would not marry his dead brother's wife and make her pregnant.
So, in the absence of god or jesus declaring masturbation a sin, I wonder how the catholic priests decided they ahd the power to. Would that not be trying to assume the role of god? Isn't that in itself a pretty naughty thing to do?
So, whiel priets and others may be on solid ground when it comes to some sins, they get themselves way off base on others.

There are many sins that we commit daily, not one is worse than another. Be happy that you're not having sex out wed lock. Masturbation is not that bad, just enjoy yourself and know that it could be worse.

I am catholic as well and I definitely masturbate. You'd be hard pressed to find a catholic that didn't! How seriously do you take your religion? If you are very serious and think it is a sin, then don't do it...but c'mon-- do you REALLY think you are going to hell for masturbating??
