yamugushi	Listen a lot of people online are against circumcision because they are anti-Semitic. Truth is most people are circumcised, at least 50% are. The reason for it is to help stop infection in babies, and for religious purposes. But honestly I can't imagine getting one at the age of 14 that might hurt like ****. there must be another option. rebecca	Ok, don't freak out. That's just one side of the story. Lots of parents choose circumcision for their sons at birth, and they (the kids) never even care that it happened. If your doc recommends it, it's probably for the best. If you do nothing, you could be prone to infection (and other problems). If you don't want a circumcision, ask if there are any alternatives. At 14, you're old enough to pipe-up in the doctor's office - you have a right to understand what's going on and your doc should be willing to explain it to you in your terms. Omer	I got circumcized at the age of 12. I was given anesthesia and it healed in 2 weeks. It is good. Because it prevents u from many genital diseases. YOu should get it done by professional. Krish the Fish	well, if the doctor is right, would you rather have a healthy penis, or one with foreskin? The doctor was saying that the foreskin was apparently cutting off circulation to the head of your penis, which isn't healthy (cutting off circulation to any part of the body isn't healthy). If you're so worried about the circumcision, ask your doctor and your parents if there are any alternatives to getting a circumcised. PS: circumcision isn't all that bad. all it is is the removal of skin. It doesn't change anything about the anatomy, but if you're uncomfortable with it, then talk to your parents and doctor to see if there's anything else you can do and still correct the problem. Alex K	More than 10-15% of men are circumsized. There is nothing wrong with circumsision. Once the cyst is removed, just live with it for a while, and see what happens. matt	cirsumcision isnt so bad...of course i had mine done when i was an infant...but yeah all that extra skin (i would imagine) is to much and can be hard to clean. its more clean to be circumcized. pple say its mutilation but there are alot of health benefits to it. N	I have 3 nephews, my husband and my son whom all are not circumcised. One of my nephews has a bit of the same problem as you. He was told to constantly try to retract the foreskin back and stretch it out over the head of his penis.. Foreskin does stretch. Look at it like wiggling a tooth loose, the more you wiggle it the more it loosens. Also, some docs are against uncircumcised penises because of the whole cleanliness thing. Your parents didn't circumcise you probably because they didn't feel it was necessary to put you through that. Talk more to them about other alternatives beside circumcision. Try to stretch out that skin by retracting it. Skin does stretch. Look at those people who have those large ear plugs in their ear lobes. They actually have ear plugs that start out really small and move up in gauges to stretch out the earring hole so a bigger plug will go in. Stretch stretch stretch!!! Harriet	Circumcision should not be needed for that. If you're not getting any pain or problems urinating then how on earth can the dr tell just by looking if it's too tight? You saw him about a testicle issue, not your foreskin! At age 14 your foreskin might not be fully separated from the glans yet, which is normal. It will happen in time. You are correct for being wary of circumcision for this. There are many alternatives for a genuinely tight foreskin. Firstly, simple stretching works in most cases. This is where the guy pulls it back as far as it will go in the shower every day. After a while it loosens. If that doesn't work, a steroidal cream applied to the area works in 90% of tight foreskin cases, and fixes it for good. Speak to your dr about Betamethasone 0.05% (or better yet see another dr). If stretching and the cream don't work, they can do surgery (a dorsal slit) to Loosen the foreskin, without removing it. jim t	Hey Scott - don't worry. The condition you have called tight foreskin or phimosis is fairly common -it usually sorts itself out. Some foreskins only become retactable at age 18. The penis is like a balloon. When you get an erection the 3 arteries in the penis fill up with blood. This stretches the skin out. The main thing you can do is to just leave it alone - try not to masturbate too much or exert a great force on it. Excessive masturbation could damage the blood vessels so it won't stretch the skin aswell as it should. Also aerobic exercise would be good, as this will increase the blood flow to your penis and will stretch it out more. Circumcision never cures anything - even if your doctor tells you to do it, say no. Most doctors are clueless when it comes to the dangers of circumcision. Neil C	My suggestion is completely different to others. I firmly believe everything is there for a reason. I mean why would you have a foreskin at all if it wasn't for some sort of use? If you are having problems with it then sure get it removed but if there is no evident problems then speak with your Doctor and ask "Does it really need to be removed?" However, if you have to get circumcised, well, then, you have to. Would you rather loose your foreskin or your whole penis? The reason it's called "genital mutilation" is because the majority of the time it's done to children at a very young age against their will - in Africa, hundreds of thousands of young girls are forced into female genital mutilation without medication at ages around 5. Some (but very few) Jewish families still get their sons circumcised when they're about two weeks old. If you agree to it, then it's not really genital mutilation - it's a medical procedure that you need in order to keep everything working down there. I feel that it definitely shouldn't be done to someone if they're a child or if it's against their will! I hope everything works out for you, I can't imagine what it's like. nebit214	Don't worry, there is no reason you need a circumcision. First, you're only 14. Its pretty common to have a tight or non-retractable foreskin at that age. As you enter puberty, the hormones will help to Loosen it up naturally. Some guys don't retract until they hit 18. It's perfectly normal. If you want to have it retract sooner, you can help it along by gently stretching it every day. Your doctor can also provide a steroid cream that will help Loosen it. Even if your foreskin never retracts, so long as it causes you no pain and you are happy with it, its ok. Your information is correct by the way. Most of the other answers refer to Americans only. In America, most men are circumcised. However, worldwide, only 20% of men are circumcised. The foreskin is a very sensitive part of your body. It contains the most sensitive parts of your penis! Joseph O	It is not your parents nor the doctors choice for you to get cut. Yes it is genital mutilation and yes 80-85% of the world is uncut. With a little time you will be able to pull back your foreskin just keep what you have and if he try's or your parents try to get you cut without your permission you could get them in a lot of trouble (sue). deb	You may want to start trying to stretch the foreskin yourself. Be sure and do this in the shower( cleanliness is very important) but you also should apply a Gentle lotion afterwards because soap can cause drying and worsen the problem. Duncan H	Scott, please don't listen to these folks who say you should get circumcised. It is NOT the best thing for you, at all. The foreskin serves a valuable function to your penis. Without your foreskin the glans will be become less sensitive over time, and the foreskin serves as a protective covering keeping your glans safe from the elements. As far the tight foreskin, that can easily be treated with steroid creams that will relax the skin or by doing stretching techniques. You should view circumcision as a last resort! bienrad	yeah circumcision is only popular in israel and in the united states other than that no one does it because its kinda mean and unecessary. circumcicion isn't necessary, bud if it is really a problem maybe you can get your frenulum removed (which is the little tiny elastic band in the back side of your ween) for some people at this age the foreskin is still tight but it will end up losening up, so yeah Was this answer helpful to you? Michael	Its highly unlikely you'll need a circumcision. Ignore all these people saying it is a good thing. A tight foreskin is surprisingly common and can usually be self-treated at home in private. Circumcision is always the LAST resort. It involves stretching the foreskin (ideally in the bath) to make it easier to pull back. Be patient, because it may take several weeks, but it will be worth it in the end.
