kara b	it is probably nothing but i wouldn't be so sure. I had to have my leg amputated from something that my parents and I thought was "Nothing" sorry to scare you there... but that actually happend. the even worse part was that i am only 14 and the procedure was done 4 weeks ago. Anyways... I got bitten by a spider (i think it was a brown recluse) and well... I didnt think it was anything so I didnt tell my parents, a day leter it got really bad so I told them. We went to the doctor and they said that I had gotten a bad infection and my lower leg had to be amputated. :( so... no more gymnastics, no more tennis, and no more being a normal kid again. Hot Chick	Try putting ice or a cold pack on it if it does not go down within a couple of hours I would go to ur doctor. if u notice any drastic change in skin color, temp. or breathing take him to E.R. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

tlbrown42000	As a healthcare provider I believe that the problem with this situation is : Unless you actually saw the insect, how do you accurately know that this is what is occuring? Insect bite...and cellulitis are two very opposite things. Getting to see a healthcare provider on a weekend is no easy task usually (I just got done working 4 hours in an Urgent Care Center and now we are closed for the weekend) An evaluation would be appropriate in my opinion. But unless it gets even worse...more swelling, discharge, visual changes, increasing pain, or any of the symptoms you previously mentioned...I don't believe it warrents a ER visit. But if no changes are apparent by Monday morning, a call to the healthcare provider is a good idea. The problem with possible cellulitis to the eye area and face area of a child is that infection (if this is what it is) needs to be treated ASAP because the bones in this area are very thin. And behind them lies the brain. Which you do not want an infection to spread to. So cellulitis of the eye/face of children is taken very seriously by us. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No
