yes cracking your knuckles is bad for you. every time you crack them air goes into the place where you just cracked them. if that makes sense. but it will lead up to bad arthritis. you shouldn't crack your knuckles anymore.

First of all cracking your knuckles isnt your bones grinding together, it is air being released from between your knuckles
And yes, cracking your knuckles is bad for you because it damages your ligaments and it erodes the cushion between your fingers which will hurt you. The safe way to crack your knucles is pull at them untill they crack.
I used to also crack my knuckles all the time so at first it is hard but later it will not be botherish.
I also have some sources that you should see

Yes and no. It may not affect you personally but another that does it down the road it might. The cracking sound is from the fluid near the joints. You may eventually set yourself up for stretched ligaments or dislocating your fingers.
You may enjoy cracking them now but may be in pain one day when either of this happens and may not be able to reverse the problems.

I have worked in an orthopedic office before and there were many cases i saw where people had severe arthritis from popping their knuckles. I dont suggest popping them unless you want to spent the rest of your life with good ole mr. Arthur. however i cannot say much because i do the same thing.

No evidence has been found to confirm the theory that it is bad for you. In the medical journal article I read about cracking joints, a man cracked only the joints in one hand for over 50 years and observed no differences in joint health.
The scientific community currently believes that people who make a living doing something that is rough on the joints (such as typing or manual labor) are more likely to crack their joints than the average person. They are also more likely to develop arthritis.
Basically, if your line of work is rough on your joints, you are more likely to develop arthritis - you are also more likely to crack your joints - but joint cracking is not what gives you the arthritis.

NO, its not. its just a common misconception. I crack my knuckles too, and who cares about people who think its bad. its just releasing nitrogen gas, so NO, its not a bad for you.

No. In fact, it's not dangerous at all, said Dr. Jonathan Kay, clinical director of the rheumatology unit at Massachusetts General Hospital.
"The cracking sound you hear when you pull on your fingers is caused by the release of negative pressure within the joint," he said. Technically, this is called cavitation. Inside every joint in the body, a gooey substance called synovial fluid coats the surfaces of cartilage to protect them. Just as two discs coated with Mineral Oil stick together and can only be pulled apart with a bit of force, so it is inside the joint. When you pull, you break the vacuum seal created by the synovial fluid and the breaking of that seal causes the popping sound -- from the bursting of bubbles of gases dissolved in the fluid.
Curiously, it takes about 20 minutes for the seal to re-establish itself. So crack your knuckles all you want. You might stretch a few ligaments, but you will not give yourself arthritis. But it'll be no fun unless you wait 20 minutes between cracks.
