If you're just having nose bleeds, it's probably from dryness. For that, you'll need a humidifier.
If you're coughing up blood, that's no where near normal, and you need to seek medical help.

Go and see a doctor right now! I used to have frequent nosebleeds. Every morning, when I would wash my face (with warm water) my nose would bleed. It would also bleed periodically throughout the day. I finally ended up going to the hospital and had to have an operation. This worked for a while, but then I ended up having to get another operation. Now, finally, I don't have this problem any longer. Just see a doctor, okay?

It can be especially if you put your head back
the correct way to stop a nose bleed is to pinch the nostrils shut and lean slightly forward keeping your nose above your heart.
If it dose not stop bleeding in fifteen minutes go seek medical attention, If spitting up blood dose not stop soon do the same.
because of heat and colder temps the air is dry and causes the nose to dry out. try getting a humidifier or placing a pan of water under your heat vents

Sounds like you swallowed a bunch of it.
Sounds like your nasal passages are really dry, you may want to consider using saline to keep every thing nice and lubed and that will keep the membranes from rupturing.

That blood is running from nostril to your throat and causing you to spit up blood. I don't want to scare you it may be nothing but a lot nose bleeding in any time of the year means you need to get your blood pressure taken. People with high blood pressure noses will bleed and even you will a red spot in your eye. I had that both the nose and eye and I found out I had high blood pressure and I have to take 2 different blood pressure med. everyday. It still stays high on the top part, but lower is almost normal. I get very high stress it causes the top to stay up.

Bleeding is never normal.
You may have just swallowed some blood.
Have you ever had this problem before?
Ice is a good way to stop the bleeding, use a bath cloth and put the ice inside, tip your head back just a little and hold the ice to your nose until the bleeding stops. If that doesn't work go to the ER.

hey mrs. tinkerbelle,
In some cases that is normal, but if it doesn't stop after 4 hours or after you've cleared your throat go to a dr. Most often it is because the blood has gone down into your throat. Get a humidifier to stop winter nosebleeds. Good Luck!

I use to get nose bleeds a lot as a child. The blood you are spitting up is the blood that ran into the back of your throat and that is normal. Your house is too dry, try buying a humidifier and at night put something like a Vick's ointment around and under your nose it helps keep it moist while you sleep.
For bad nose bleeds keep your nose pinched and use an ice pack and keep your head forward not to the back so the blood doesn't run backward that's what my doctor told me. I hope this helps.

It is normal since your nose and mouth are connected and about the nose bleeding it can be caused because the dry air for preventing this to happen you should buy a humidifier for the environment where you live, but if you cannot afford it just leave half of your bathtub filled and it would help the humidity in your house much better.

It drains down your sinus passage and into your throat. Or you could have swallowed some too. Don't be shocked if it's in your stool.

When you have nosebleeds, it is very common for the blood to run back and down to your throat and stomache, therefore you would spit blood up, HOWEVER, if this is a recurring thing, there could be other issues going on, clotting disorders for instance, which can be serious. It would be good to have a visit with your doctor, or go to your local urgent care.

If you get them during the winter, they are probably caused by dry air. Try using a humidifier, and maybe a Moisturizing (non-medicated) nasal spray too. The nose and mouth are very much connected, so yes, it is normal that some blood could get into your mouth.
Avoid blood thinners such as Aspirin or Ginseng.
If things don't improve, consulting a doctor is never a bad idea.

Yes it is normal. Your sinuses are connected to your throat. Get a humidifier for your room in order to add moisture and prevent your sinuses from drying.

it could be that the blood dripped down the back of your throat and you are just spitting out excess, however, if it continues see a dr. right away.you could have a broken blood vessle too. keep a couple humidifiers going in the house whenever possible especially near your bed. that should help with the dryness.

i feel ya... drink plenty of water.. as this will keep your nose moist, like your skin.. and wont scab up.. i know.. its gross. but the blood you spit up was just from swallowing it. a cool, moist towel is nice with your head back. a cookie might make you feel btter, once its all over. Now..go back to bed.

Yes. Your sinus cavity is connected to your throat.. in other words, any fluids in your nose are bound to drain through the throat and possibly enter your mouth. This is normal, for a typical nose bleed. However, if it is from an injury then you should have it checked.
Good Luck.

Your nose is connected to your mouth, so its possible the blood could of gone through like that (e.g when you swallow your boogers when your sick or something)
but if its prolonged, you need to call your doctor.
drink PLENTY OF WATER, and keep hydrated on the outside too.

The blood you are spitting up is just residual blood that drained down your throat through your nasal passages.
I have the same problem. The best thing to do is to get a humidifier. During the winter months, the air inside of your home can become rather dry because of the furnace running all the time heating the air, and drying it out. A good humidifier will do wonders to keeping your nasal lining moist.
If you seem to get nosebleeds often, you actually should see your family doctor. Nose bleeds are one symptom of High Blood Pressure. So, it would be a good idea to have it checked.
You can also purchase nasal sprays in just about every drugstore or supermarket. They contain no actual medication, they are usually just made up of saline Solution (salt water) You can spray a few squirts into each nostril to keep things from becoming too dry in there.
I wish you well in finding a method of stopping your Nosebleeds, I hope I was able to help you out!
