Did I cause nerve damage to my hand by sleeping on it?

When I fell asleep Sunday night,I must've slept on my left arm wrong,it's tingly and weak.I've woke up to that before,but it always goes away,and this hasent.I fell asleep on my couch Sun. night a tad intoxicated(my Sun. night thing),and woke up today with a useless left arm,my fingers are numb,and I can't lift with it.That's happened to me before,but it's always gone away after 10 mins,and this hasent.It's been with me all day and night.I'm having trouble typing this because of it.What did I do?Is sleeping on your' arm supposed to result in being semi-crippled for the whole next day?Why is my arm still messed up?

yes, sleeping on your hand causes nerve damage.
If you sleep on it enough times you will loose all connections and not be able to regain blood flow.

it may take awhile but it will eventually recover. you did slightly damage your nerve by cutting off its blood flow for an extended period of time. it happens to patients in the operating room if they are not positioned correctly.

Before going to a doctor, I would get in a shower and let the spray of water hit all up and down my arm, then massage it firmly, and continue trying to use it. You would have damaged any nerves sleeping on your arm. It sounds more like a pinched nerve in your shoulder area.

If your nerve is snapped or broken, then you would be feeling incredibly intense radiating pain, it is not. You've just pinched a nerve, and because nerves heal slowly it could take weeks or months to fully heal.

i experienced that before, but not the whole arm, but my left middle and ring finger only, no matter what im trying to move it, it doesn't move, until i massage it with my right hands, and it is back to normal, it last 12 hours, but when i do the massage, slowly it came back to normal. so do a little bit massage to the affected area

You probably pinched a nerve and that may be why its taking so long. Take a heating pad to it for awhile and it should help and if it still doesnt take lotion and massage that arm and see if it goes away if not you need to call the doc so they can do tests.

you are cutting the circulation off so your arm is not getting a good blood supply. have a nice hot shower ,do some exercise with your arm it will be feeling better in no time 1 ps try not to sleep on your arm !
