Don't keep letting go and checking on it. Give it a good 15-30 minutes of constant pressure. Don't have your leg hanging down from a chair, keep it propped up. The blood has to travel against gravity in this case, and particularly in your lower extremities, it doesn't have the pressure required to pump higher than the level of your heart. Sally Can Wait	Injuries involving the most painful and difficult to deal with. Go to a doctor, he will drain the blood out for you by drilling a hole in your nail. You could do this yourself but I wouldn't recomend it. Of course if you lived in Canada you could've just gone to a clinic and got it done for free. Ah ha! Life is good up here. garylsmih1973	go to your local emergency department. in the UK contact the nhs helpline 08454647 for there advice if you think you can resolve this yourself. you may have a broken bone or other problem that is preventing your blood from clogging. i thought county facilities in the USA helped anyone who walked in. am i wrong? bandage the toe as tightly as you can stand it, then get to your nearest emergency facility. go in and pretend to feint as you get in the door, they will treat you before they ask you for your details. just a thought. Quenby	OUCH!! You ought to put pressure on your toe. Give it some time. I'm just surprised you didn't state your toe was also broken. Avoid walking at this moment or if you need to get up, don't put any pressure on that foot. guitar814girl	if its cut: put super glue on the cut. if its bleeding from under your nail: ouch! ive done this 6 times now i think. it will hurt.... theres a posibility that it will bleed so much it will pop your nail right off. if that doesnt happen, the pressure under your nail from the blood with create alot of pain. i had to drill a hole in the middle of my nail... (i dont know why, but someone told me to, so i did.) this helped release the pressure. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Μαѕκεδ Çђαηφσ	believe it or not, alcohol wouldnt be the best thing to do, it does clean the infection (if one were to form) but i also kills the skin cells!! put a band-aid!! Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No
