s2pified	Be careful when you ice it. (I gave myself frost bite when icing a broken pinky!) Take an Advil (or Tylenol) to reduce the swelling and help with the pain. Tape your pinky to your 4th finger. This will act as a splint to immobilize it. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

donna_honeycutt47	Do you have any popsickle sticks or anything like an emory Board (finger nail file). If so take the Boards or sticks and hold this against the outside of your finger and wrap tape around them, you need to keep the finger straight and not move it. Also take a couple of Tylenol until your parents get home. Honestly not much a Doctor can do for it except put it in a finger Splint (which you can buy at any drug Store) and keep you on something for pain relief. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

CowgirlUp	Either keep it on ice or in cold water or tape it and keep it above your heart so it doesn't throb as bad. I've done the same thing before, and I'm sorry to say, but there's not much you can do about it except tape it and let it go. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

SAK	If your parents work, do you have their work phone numbers to call them? Otherwise, you could take Tylenol or Ibuprofen to help the pain, etc. Plus, the ice, 20 min on, 20 min off, repeat. If your parents can't come home from work right now (at least one of them), can you call them and get the okay to call 911 to have the medics look at it, and maybe transport you to the emergency room? jrsgurl62	Self-Care at Home Make a splint (immobilize your finger even if that means putting a popsicle stick or pen next to it and wrapping something around the stick and your finger). Apply ice to the injured finger as you head to an emergency department. Do not apply ice directly to your skin. Put a towel between the ice and your finger. FaZizzle	Take some Advil, put some ice on it, and stay calm. Pinkies are REALLY hard for a doctor to put a cast on. Chances are he would splint it (tape it to your ring finger) for the time being. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Ralfcoder	first - calm down. It's not an emergency. If you're not bleeding, you'll probably live, and be able to play the piano as well as you could before. Second - DON'T PUT ICE DIRECTLY ON IT. You don't want to add frostbite to the list of injuries on your hand. Put the ice in a plastic bag, and wrap the bag in a dish towel. Then hold that against your finger. Put it on for 10-15 minutes, and leave it off for 10-15 minutes. Third - if it's obviously broken or out of joint - ie, it has a funny bend to the side somewhere, or maybe it's bent backwards in the middle - splint it with something to keep it protected from further injury. You can put a couple of popcycle sticks in either side of it, and wrap it with gauze. You can wrap it with some printer paper or newspaper folded up to about the length of your finger. Or you can just wrap it with gauze or an ace bandage a couple of times, and then wrap the gauze around the next finger. This will help keep it from being bent, and being injured more. 4th - go find a doctor, readycare clinic, or (last choice) the emergency room of a hospital. The last one will cost you the most, and you'll potentially tie up valuable space that a real emergency could need and use. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No
