UTI'S ARE MORE COMMON IN WOMEN BUT SEE A DOC TO GIVEA URINE SAMPLE. AND IF YOU HAVE AN INFECTION ITS TREATED WITH ANTIBIOTICS. ITS NOT A DISEASE BUT IT CAN BE CONTAGIOUS SOMETIMES..

You can't really diagnose a UTI by the 1 symptom that you describe. And if it comes and goes, it definately is not one. If you have one you will know because it is painful burning upon urination. If you do have one,, you need antibiotics from the doctor, Cranberry jiuce won't help at all.

If you had a UTI you would be in pain. Your lower back would hurt because of your kidneys. You will feel that you have to go to the bathroom all the time, but don't. If you really think that you have it, go get a UA done at a clinic and if it tests possitive they will put you on some meds for it, and it should clear up in about a week

Why would you have unprotected sex?
If you have a UTI, you usually know. It burns like you wouldn't believe to pee! Maybe what you have is low grade though. Either way, DO NOT self medicate. UTIs can go from zero to HORRIBLE quickly and then you want to die. Go to the doc. Drink a lot of water and Cranberry juice in the meantime.

Cranberry Juice will help. So will Alka Seltzer, it has never been advertised for uti, but it works also.

Honestly, if you have one, you need to get an antibiotic to treat it. I would drink tons and tons of water, Cranberry juice, and it didn't help. So go to the doctor or it will turn into a kidney infection. That's even worse! I get them quite often- they say once you get one, your chances of getting another increase highly. So I'm on a medication to prevent them... Women tend to get them more than men.
Anyways, go to the doctor- and it's not necessarily from sex- it can be from a few factors- but here is something I got from www.webmd.com
"Most urinary Tract infections occur when bacteria enter the urinary Tract and start to multiply in the bladder. Women may be more prone to UTIs than men because their urethras are closer to the anus, the source of UTI-causing bacteria.
Many women find that sexual intercourse triggers an infection though researchers aren't sure why. Studies suggest that women who use a Diaphragm are more likely to develop a urinary Tract infectionurinary tract infection, while other research shows that women whose partners use a condom with spermicidal foam also have overgrowth of bacteria within the vagina, perhaps making them more prone to infections.
Whatever the cause of urinary Tract infections, antibiotic-resistant bacteria are raising many women's risks of repeated infection."
if you do a little research at webmd, they'll tell you what you need to know.
Goodluck

Plese get checked for STDs just to be safe...an orgasm in not worth spend the rest of your life on dialysis. An untreated UTI, urethritis can lead to ascending infections that can potentially damage the kidneys. (Worse case scenario...but it would suck if that happened to you.)
Go see a healthcare provider.

It is common if it is indeed a UTI. You can buy a pretty cheap test at the pharmacy (Walgreens, CVS, etc) that is basically a test strip you pee on that says if you have one.
Antibiotics clear it up pretty quick. You can try Cranberry juice, but if it does not clear up, get to a doctor before you get toxic.
Avoid this next time by peeing before and after sex (whether its protected or not). The infection usually is flushed out with urination.

Cranberry juice can help prevent a UTI, but if you think you have one see your doctor as soon as you can. If left untreated, a UTI can cause a kidney infection, which can be quite serious. If you do have a UTI your doctor will perscribe you medication that you take for a few days that kills the bacteria.

I don't know if it's the same for guys, but Cranberry juice works great for girls. UTIs are very common but it may be something more serious. You could have an std. You may want to get it checked out if it doesn't go away in a few days.

A UTI isn't a disease. It's a infection. And, yes it's fairly common. The signs of having a UTI is the frequent urge to urinate, but nothing comes out, or if it does it will hurt, like a burning sensation. If it's a mild UTI you can cure it by drinking lots of water or Cranberry juice. I've also heard that Cranberry pills help alot too. If that doesn't clear it up after a couple of days, I'd suggest going to the doctor and getting some pills. It will usually make you feel better after 3 days of taking the medication, and turns your pee a funny color. LOL.

It could be a UTI or nongonococcal urethritis, but most of the time in men it is a more aggressive infection like gonorrhea. Men have a longer "tube" for organisms to crawl up to get to the bladder, so men don't get UTI's like women do after sex nearly as often.
Men and women can carry gonorrhea and be asymptomatic, so your partner may not know she has this either.
I would go to the doctor and find out what the infection is and get antibiotics. Then I would tell your partner to get treated as well so you don't get reinfected.
I see that you don't say you're in pain, but if it is bugging you that bad to ask this question I am assuming you have discomfort. If you don't have discomfort, well, then you could just be drinking more coffee than normal. Cut the caffeine in that instance and see if it stops.
