Can you drink alcohol on any anti biotics?

are u allowed to drink on anti biotics doesnt say not to on box just need to no got 2 bdays an chrismas coming up aswell? tablets are called . OXYTETRACYCLINE ....

natalie r	i wouldnt recomend it. i was on steroids for posion Ivy and i was drinking at a party and woke up with the lead singer of some band.
meloni o	I have always heard, you should not drink when taking antibiotics, it will weaken the antibiotics, and will not do the job they are supposed to do! You can call the pharmacy and they will answer this question for you!!! Good Luck!!

Ms Minger	It's Metronidazole that you can't drink alcohol with. You should really check with the pharmacist, but it would probably say on the box if you're not supposed to drink.

crazymental	its really not advised. numerous reasons really, alcohol affects how antibiotics work and antibiotics affect how alcohol affects you. you'll get drunk quicker, but may vomit which will make the antibiotics ineffective probably meaning you'll have to have another course.

heleni	I don't know about this specific antibiotic. But there are two problems that you may have: First, it may stop the antibiotics working properly. So whatever problem they are treating might not clear up. Second, some antibiotics make you violently sick when mixed with alcohol. Not all of them do, but unless you know a specialist to ask, you won't know for sure. Personally, I don't think it's worth the possible after effects just for a few drinks. If you can't have a good time without a drink in your hand, what does that say about you?

janeysmithster	dont. Some anti biotics have side effects when used with alcohol such as getting you more drunk, or drowsy. This might seem like a typical sat night out but what alchohol also does is dehydrate you and flush out the medicine out your system more. So the anti biotics dont get to do their job right and you could remain ill. Saying that i have drank moderately on anti biotics and i was fine,however, i have heard some horror stories such as an infection coming on ten times worse so best check you chemist and your doc or stay sober
ninaol	It is never a good idea to drink alcohol while on antibiotics. It could increase your sensitivity or intolerance to alcohol. Take your antibiotics as prescribed and finish them.

pooterilgatto	While at one time long ago Alcohol was often used as medicine, that was before we had any Antibiotics and other modern Medicines. Now it is enough to use the Medicine that are prescribed, and abstain from Alcohol while using the Medicine. A good thing to ask now is am I addicted to the Alcohol, and feel the need to have it even when I am using medicines for the condition I am treating? Definitely do not drink Alcohol when taking Medicine and it is safer.......
elsie1912	You can drink whilst on them. Won't do you any harm but it will stop the effect of the tablets. Best not to drink and stick with the medication. Don't just miss out that days tablets either so you can drink, as that is going to affect the treatment too.

JCA	NO. Rule of thumb when on prescribed medication -- no alcohol period. There will be plenty of soda, koolade and other non-alcoholic beverages around so step aside and leave the bottle alone. There's always next year if you're off medication. It's not like this is the Last Christmas on Earth! Never put a season or other thing above or before your health. That's immature.
Smoky'dad	!st place asking in here is pretty stupid..sincewe are Not Doctors or pharmacists I would suggest You call your pharmacist and ask him... what the effects are as well as your doctor ... who prescribed them for whatever sort of condition you need them for... typically when one is given antibiotics its forsomething fairly serious and given how antibiotics andthe human immune system work together and alchohol effects the imune system Its safe to say YOU knew the answer is no before you asked .....If the infection is minor enough that youarenot concerned about your own health consider thenext time you get sick and antibiotics dont do the job for you again at whatever level that is at...bad or REALLY BAD.. .. Chances are your getting drunk at the two bdays and xmas arent worth the long term potential...But ts your choice.... its your body ... why not just not take em at all? and if "it goes away" then itcouldn't have been so bad, if it doesn't go away ,tell the MD you had to getdrunk..
