Doctors don't like for patients with heart conditions to drinks soft drinks because of the caffeine. (Sprite, root beer and Ginger ale are okay - because they don't have caffeine)

there's too much sodium (salt) in them. And they promote other things associated with heart problems such as weight gain.

Soft drinks are not reccomened to heart patients for many reasons.
One reason is obvious, they are plain and simply not good for you. Also because of the caffine which is not good for your heart it is almost a false adrenaline rush, also coffee isnt reccomended for heart patients sometimes. Next is because of the high amounts of sodium. Finally is because of the amount of sugar in one can of soda its amazing if u let a can of soda evaporate, an average can of pepsi will be 3/4ths full of pure sugar.

Not all soft drinks. Only those which contain stimulants like caffeine.
