I'm with Lilia. You need someone who is certified! Opening up someone's chest isn't a job for guess work.

Please contact your primary doctor and get a referral to someone board certified.

Normally any type of surgical procedure requires the patient (you) to Pre-register at a hospital or surgical facility, normally a hosp. and that you are required to go through certain screening procedures when you go for your pre-reg chest x-rays, blood draws, etc. if necessary, depending on your health. You didn't mention what type of facility ie: hospital that you're having this done at. I can tell you that any hospital worth its salt is going to make darn sure that ALL of it's surgeons ARE completely Board Certified and highly qualified to do this or any other type of procedure!

I'm suspicious of this question and if in fact it is just a query question, you got your answers in concert! That means all of us!

[[[[Do NOT ALLOW HIM TO DO IT! You cancel that appt. and call the local Medical Board and let them direct you. Didn't you get a referral for this so-called Surgeon from your GP? Gen. Prac. and if so, go back to them and make them refer you to a Board certified Surgeon!
Another thing you can do is call the hospital where this clown works and ask them why they allow him privileges at that facility and what is their stance on NON-Board Cert. Drs.?

Remember, it's YOUR body! Make sure you get the proper care for it! And trust me, you're not going to make anyone mad by looking out for NO.1!

P.S. Haven't you ever heard or read about these so-called Drs. who say they can do this or that and set up office and then turns out they FAILED their state board exams? That's what this means!

If you allow him to touch you and he's not Board Certified, you in essence are his guinea pig! Didn't you see any Diplomas indicating his Board Certifications on his wall or what kind of clown is this? DO NOT DO THAT! ]]]]

Absolutely you should be more than concerned. Board Certification is extremely important. Please find another heart surgeon to do this. It sounds like you need to have this done pretty quickly. So please you can call the AMA for a referral or your regular MD. Please Take Care!
