Even though everyone does pass gas it can be very rude to do it in public. If you do say excuse me that makes if more polite but then people around you might start talking about that bomb of a fart you just ripped!
I think people began to be ashamed of passing gas when all ladies were supposed to be perfect and proper so if they did they were considered rude and so were their parents for not teaching them otherwise.

Because of the way people are raised. It is socially unacceptable, but it is better for you to pass it than to hold it in. You can cause an anurysm in your intestinal track by holding it in.

I'm ashamed, because it comes out of my anus. I won't even pass gas in a public restroom if I think anyone might hear. God, how terribly embarrassing. I flush the toilet hoping that it muffles the sound or hold it in until I’m the only person in there. Did you know that in some foreign countries, they actually have mechanical devices that women use in the bathrooms that make a flushing sound to muffle the noises? Companies install this device because it saves water, since the women no longer flush. Though I am embarrassed to fart in public, I love talking about the stuff! *smirk*

I only do it around my closest friends and husband. I believe it's because it smells bad. There was this skit on In Living Color where they farted, and it smelled like potpourri and so they just kept on farting because it smelled good. I honestly think if they made no noise, and smelled like roses, we'd all do it more in public. Don't you agree?
