trouble sleeping? he needs to go to the doctor. has he lost much weight? I would tend to go with the acid reflux but it could be something more serious like irritable bowel syndrome, crohn's disease or the like.

When you mentioned burning stomach feeling, the first thing that came to my mind was an ulcer as my brother had an ulcer and he seemed to have those same symptoms. The most common symptom of an ulcer is abdominal discomfort. This discomfort usually is a dull, gnawing ache that comes and goes for several days or weeks, occurs 2 to 3 hours after a meal, occurs in the middle of the night (when the stomach is empty), is relieved by eating, is relieved by antacid medications, causes excessive burping, bloating, nausea and vomiting. One type of ulcer, called peptic ulcer is actually caused by a bacteria known as Helicobacter pylori. This type of ulcer can successfully be treated with antibiotics but I think that the diagnosis would have to be made endoscopically for accurate results.
Other problems could include cyclical gastritis, gastritis, stress, food poisoning or many other things. A visit to the doctor would be the best things if these symptoms do not settle down within 24 hours, as any type of abdominal pain should be taken seriously.
Lots more information, on abdominal pain, at site below. Hope that helps!

Ulcers? Acid reflux? Both treatable by physician. after it's under control then you can probably take good care of it with diet and herbal supplements so as not to have to take medicine for the rest of your life.

could be a rumbling appendix or possibly an ulcer. I'm no expert by the way. I'd get him to check it out. If he won't ask if you can speak to his or your doctor and explain the circumstances. If you're in the UK you can speak to someone at your local hospital - I think the number is under something like NHS Direct. I phoned it a few years ago and they were very helpful. You don't have to reveal your identity. It should be in your phone book.

there are a few things this could be. it could be ACID REFLUX, HEARTBURN, STOMACH ULSERS or more seriously GALL STONES. either way your boyfriend should seek proper medical advice. get him to make an appointment ro see a doctor as soon as possible! the sooner it is diagnosed the sooner he will be on the road to recovery and feeling better.
i had similar symptoms a few years ago and it turned out i had gall stones and had to have my gall bladder removed. it is a very simple procedure. you spend only 1 or 2 nights in hospital and the recovery period is only a couple of weeks. it made a big difference to my life having this done! good luck i hope you get this sorted out!

Definitely ulcer symptoms. If he has dark poop, or coffee ground looking poop, he needs to get to a doc right away.
