put an icepack on the back of your neck to lessen the blood flow to your head lean FOWARD into a tisues and pinch your nose close with a litle rom left for the blood toc come out.
People may say lean back but the forces all the blood into places itis not meant to be and causes clots.

I'm a unicorn.
Let it keep going till it stops by itself. If you try to clot it on your own, it'll bleed again later.

One nice way of stoping nose bleeding is talk some tissue and wipe away the blood and then just lay backwards for about 10 minutes...
It ought to work.

Apparenty you have to compress the uppernose, like inbetween you eyes, and hold your head backwards a little, the hard part you should be squeesing, apparently that compresses and slows down the blood flow to your nose.

I used to have nose bleeds that could last for hours.

No joke, I actually had to get surgery for it. I get nosebleeds now maybe once every few months. My doctor taught me to curve my pointer finger and push it against the side of my nose that is bleeding really hard (from the cartilage down) for about five minutes. It cuts off the circulation to your nose and it actually feels like your nose fell asleep. Make sure to blow out blood clots.

pinch ur nose with tissue paper and put your head down.... dont tilt ur head back!! it makes the blood go down ur throat! it takes some time to slow down, so dont keep checking if it stopped or else it will just keep bleeding. u should hold ur nose for like 2-5 minutes. i just took a first aid course, so im 100% sure.

tissue to your nose - pinch it and bend forward -not backward.
you want the blood to run out of your nose - not down your throat.
if it won't stop- you may need to go to the hospital and get it cauterized, but that's rare.
You can do tissues in the nose - but be careful removing them - it can break the clots and start the bleeding all over again - so I don't recommend it.
Gauze works good too....

This is gonna sound crazy, but it does work.. Take a brown paper bag, like one youd get at a store or something, and tare a small piece, and place it under your upper lip, it really does help stop the nose bleed.. I dunno what it is, but its something in the paper.

pinch under the bone on both side of the nose and lean your head forward because if you lean it back it drains into your throat... hold it for a minute and dont blow it after or during cause it stops it for clotting and you want it to clot...stay away for asprin products because it thins some peoples blood well mine for sure...

putting tissue in ur nose is ok but cotten wads work better, best idea is to just give the blood something to form clots onto. Think about the ananomy of a nose bleed, it is just a trearing of a blood vessel in your nose from high blood pressure, dry air, too much sniffing, sneezing, or anything that causes the lining of the veins to break. a cotten wad will collect blood and help it to clot and form a "scab" over the broken part of the vein. tissues can sometimes make the bleeding worse and doesn't always hold blood over the broken wall of vein.

Pinch the nostrils together and hold it.Never lean your head back as this could lead to drowning. In first aide classes they teach to pinch the nose closed and hold pressure until the bleeding stops.

Put damp tissue paper or toilet paper up the nose; and be sure to put a little salt on it- it works. Other than that just lay down and tilt your head up, this way you've got gravity on your side making it harder for the blood to come out.

Well since I have nose bleeds I know what to do. Don't put a lot of tissue in your nose because that will not help. The blood will just end up drowning the tissue. But all you do is pinch the nose where the nose begins. Then you tilt your head back. Then you can put ice in a damp cloth on your nose to chill it. That should stop it. That is how I stop mine. But I was told that the inside of the nostrils so there is something that you can put up your nose yo keep it from getting dry. You can find it at Walgreens and ask for nose bleed cream or something like that. Hope this helps.

Assuming this is not from you being punched in the nose - or if you HAVE been punched in the nose - tilt your head back and press firmly on the side of your nose that is bleeding... until it stops. Some notes - nose bleed can be caused by dry warm air which is encountered in cold/winter weather. For this - run a humidifier or a candle warmer that needs water in it. Anything to add moisture to your air. If your nose bleed is because of dry air, this will help you!
If it's from an unfriendly fist, go back to the pressing firmly and holding advice at the start! And - good luck to you!
BTW I keep reading Not to tilt your head back but think of it this way...tilt your head back and your nose is at it's highest point - your blood is now NOT able to get to the bleeding part as easily. With your head back, all blood (that can) will naturally run down. That may be down your throat but isn't that preferable to running out the spot in your nose that will keep your nose bleeding? And remember too, since you are pressing on the sides of your nose, you have already stopped the flow of blood...nothing to drip anywhere!

The other thing that worries me - PLEASE do NOT put anything up your nose to stop the nosebleed! The blood will just fill up your tissue or cotton and then, when it does clot, that clot will get ripped out when you move or remove the tissue! Then you're back to square one!

Pinching Method

1. Pinch your nose just below the bridge. There is a vein just below the nose bone that is the culprit in 99% of bloody noses. Pinching puts pressure on it, which arrests the bleeding and speeds the clotting process.
2. Find a bathroom as you continue pinching. Now that you have slowed the bleeding by pinching, you should find a bathroom where you can clean up once the bleeding has stopped.
3. Keep applying pressure for at least 5 minutes at a time. Don't check to see if it is still bleeding over this period of time as it is important to keep continuous pressure. After this period of time let go briefly to see if the bleeding has stopped. If not, give it another 5 minutes. (This is also a good time to quickly wash any blood off your hands and get a paper towel or toilet paper to pinch with so that blood gets on the paper and not your hand.) If it is, continue pinching. Don't check every 30 seconds, as the key is constant pressure.

Pressure Method

1. Find the two very slight depressions on the back of the skull, approximately four finger-widths from the base of the skull (in line with the tops of the ears) and four finger-widths from the mid-line of the back of the skull. If you had eyes in the back of your head, this is where they would be.
2. Press the spots firmly, but gently, and if you have connected correctly, the bleeding should stop immediately. Keep up the pressure for about five minutes and then release. If the bleeding starts again, just repeat the process, but hold it longer: you may have to keep up the pressure for ten to fifteen minutes to stop it completely.

Upper Lip Method

1. Roll up a piece of gauze or tissue into a "cigar shape" approximately 2 inches long and a little thicker than a pencil. Folding it into a small, thick square also works well.
2. Wedge the tissue under your upper lip where it's tight and close your lip over it.
3. Apply light pressure by compressing your lip over the wad. Tilt your head forward.

Just put pressure on your nose and hold.. just wait. Shouldn't be much longer then minutes with bad bleeds.

DON'T tilt your head back, its a common misconception and just puts blood in your stomach.

Lots of people say tilt your head back, DO NOT do this, it will cause blood to drain back into your throat and that is really gross, or it is to me, at least, and can make your stomach upset.
Lean forward and pinch the middle of your nose, sort of there the bone ends, and just wait for it to end.

Take a piece of brown paper bag, fold it a couple times, and stick it under your top lip so that it presses up against where your lip meets your gums.

The main artery that supplies the inside of the nose with blood flow can be blocked momentarily by doing this and your nosebleed will end. (notebook paper folded a few times works too)

Putting any type of stopper in your nose will either stick to the clot and break it free when you remove it, or the blood will find another path to exit.

I Have Answers
To take care of a nosebleed:

* Sit upright and lean forward. By remaining upright, you reduce blood pressure in the veins of your nose. This discourages further bleeding. Sitting forward will help you avoid swallowing blood, which can irritate your stomach.
* Pinch your nose. Use your thumb and index finger and breathe through your mouth. Continue to pinch for five to 10 minutes. This maneuver sends pressure to the bleeding point on the nasal septum and often stops the flow of blood.
* To prevent re-bleeding after bleeding has stopped, don't pick or blow your nose and don't bend down until several hours after the bleeding episode. Keep your head higher than the level of your heart.
* If re-bleeding occurs, blow out forcefully to clear your nose of blood clots and spray both sides of your nose with a decongestant Nasal Spray containing Oxymetazoline (Afrin, Neo-Synephrine, others). Pinch your nose in the technique described above and call your doctor.

Hope this helps! :)

My daughter used to get frequent nose bleeds and the doctor told her to go stand over the sink and put pressure on the side that was bleeding up by the corner of her eye on her nose and let the blood drip in the sink. Sometimes I would get scared though and would make her stick a tampon in it, I would be afraid she was losing to much blood and his remedy was not working fast enough.
