breast feeding is a natural process for babies to be fed. It should be no cause for concern for a woman to feed a hungry child in public

Standards of polite behaviour are changing. I think most people are ok with it these days, although some find it tasteless.
There are a lot of things it used to be considered tasteless to do in public but which are now becoming more acceptable: Women putting on makeup, couples kissing, breast feeding, arguing, public fornication and the like.
We all just have to move with the times.

The same thing I think about people eating in public. Try not to slurp (just kidding). But in all honesty, this is the best food for infants. Societies/Cultures who are disgusted by this, need to re-evaluate their position. Viewing the breast as disgusting or needing to be hidden is just bunk. People need to grow up, and the best way to start is for infants to be breastfed.
I think women who breast feed are doing the best they can for their babies.
You wouldn't want to eat in a public restroom, don't relegate babies to that.

What do I think about a woman who nurses her baby in public? The same thing I think of a man who eats a hot dog in public. No big deal at all. I don't understand how some can be uncomfortable with this issue. It's not like anyone is surrounded by nursing mothers...Look somewhere else.

i'm not a fan of exposing oneself in the name of breastfeeding, but if the baby is hungry and its done modestly- then i'm all for it.

I think it is fine as long as she not exposing herself.
Breastfeeding is the best thing that you can do for your baby. When the baby is hungry, you have to feed it no matter where you are at.

I would prefer that they do it in private. However, I also understand that when a baby needs to eat, he needs to eat. So the mother is compelled to feed her baby, wherever she is... Just don't look :-)

Only if the child is hungry in public! There are ways to cover mother and child so as to not over expose those minds not developed enough to handle it !!!

I think that it is perfecly natural for a mother to feed her baby wherever she is when it is hungry. Mothers milk is the best thing for a baby to drink. I do not see why people get so offended by it. The mother can do it discretely. My wife breastfed all 4 of our children.
I have a question for those who say it shouldn't be done in a restaurant. WHY NOT??? If YOU are paying attention to what is going on in YOUR booth or table instead of what someone else is doing, you probably would not even notice that a mother is breastfeeding an infant.

I really get uncomfortable. There should be portable breastfeeding tents that should be set up so that they can do it in private. Or at least something umbrella-like with an opaque or semi-opaque screen to shield them from the public.

I can see how it bothers some people. So I think women shouldn't do it. But I don't think it should be a law or anything.
It's like flag burning. It will bother people, but it shouldn't be a law.

Perfectly natural. That's what breasts are for in the first place. No question. Uncovered, covered makes no difference. I have no clue why this is an issue. The female body in no way is ugly or disgusting or whatever. If people don't like it or get embarrassed, they shouldn't look. I'm a guy, and it doesn't bother me at all. I find it odd that people protest something so NORMAL. Mind boggling.

Well, would you rather listen to my infant scream? That's kinda how I look at it...
Now don't get me wrong, if you can see nipple, then she should be more descrete, but otherwise there isn't a thing wrong with it other than certain people's preconcieved sexual notions.

They have every right to do so. People will pick on anything, from smoking, to sneezing in public, to THAT. They're snobs who can't mind their own business.

Are you one of those who are ashamed of natural human functions? Go to church regularly? Preach the gospel, sing in choir? Believe in sex with the lights out?
For goodness sake, let the baby eat.
Here is one for you....WHat do you think of mothers who feed their baby bottles of fake milk when the real thing is best for babies. And they do it in public!! Why not just starve the baby? ANd what do you think of mothers who give their children fast food and school lunch every day and breakfast cold sugar cereal and for all of us to see. How disgusting. I wish they would do all that in private!!! We don't want to watch them creat another generation of diabetetic fatsos milking medicair in their old age.
What do you think of people eating their lunch in public? Can't they make little hide-aways for them so we don't have to look? Especially if they are eating something we want!!
Does this help you see the light at all?
