This is kind of embaressing....?
I'm kind of embaressed to ask that, but I'm a bit worried and I don't want to go and ask my doctor.....

Sometimes, when I go to the toilet for a poo, if I push hard I get really light headed and dizzy. Is that bad? What could it mean? I'm 15 and I'm not on any medicines and I don't have any illnesses.

Sounds like constipation. Look, i had constipation b4 believe me, now im taking some fiber pills helps me and now its regularizing... anywho, what i used to do is i wud never go poo till i knew i had no choice to go cuz even when i went nothing wud come out. Constipation is a B*tch. Do not push nothing out. If nothing's comin out, just leave. Personnaly, i hate stayin on da bowl 4 like an hour when i got stuff to do so i wud leave and later on i wud go when i had no choice and then it wud just come all come out in one shot and ur done in 10 minutes.

Just remember, when it's dat time 2 go, do not hold it in and u'll b fine. If u can, just eat a little more fiber or if it's easier, just buy some natural Fiber pills and take some whenever u eat.

Just my 2 cents.

Not sure what the other (1st) two answers have to do with your question but - I do not think it's a real problem. Get you some Cranberry juice - drink you a glass or two a day for the next two or three days and see if it helps.

can be that u are holding your breath for too long when straining. however there is a body response called Vasal vagal characterized by the heart rate droping quickly and is associated with valsalva maneuver( pushing or straining when attempting to have a bowel movement) this could be the reason u feel dizzy, don't mean to scare yu but sometimes u can pass out. maybe u should consult with your family doctor just in case

well if i went "hruuuggghhhh!!" for 10 minutes I'd be out of breath and fainting too. Way to show them "Who's Number 2's boss"! Make sure you're not talking to someone on the phone when you're doing this, too.

Well, if you aren't acutally pooping, just trying to, that probably means you are constipated, and if you are, you just have to try too hard, I have no idea and you should probably go to the doctor.

If this continues you should consult a doctor. Any neurological symptoms (light headedness, fainting, headache) that persist for more than a week should ALWAYS be diagnosed properly.

You should also stay hydrated by drinking at least three glasses of water per day. Make sure you are eating enough fiber. This will make your poopies soft and manageable.

Take some milk Of Magnesia. It is not harmful and it is a stool softner. Eat more fiber.

WOW that could be serious...it could be high blood pressure or you may be having a bunch of mini strokes...go see your doctor, you may need at CAT scan or a PET scan of your brain. In the meantime don't push so hard.

you can ignore eggman; having a dump doesn't cause a stroke. Puh-lease. Drink more water, MUCH more, and take something like Fibogel daily that helps to retain some of that water in the intestine (that's one way that Gentle laxatives work). Or try those little yoghurts with the bugs in them.

You should eat a cereal every morning like weetabix or bran flakes. Also have orange juice. A pear is very good. Sometimes you have to take a laxative if you are badly constipated. You can buy one to suit your age without a prescription. Ask At your Chemist. If you are too embarrassed. Your Mum or close relative will be glad to help. Don't suffer in silence.

You may be forcing too much. Poo should just flow out. If you're poo is hard, you should drink more water. Take some multivitamins to make sure you aren't malnourished. If this doesn't work, then you should consult your doctor. Don't be embarassed. ; )

To explain the anatomy, food goes through your mouth to the stomach to the small intestines to the large intestines and out your colon. The small intestines soaks up the nutrients from the food and the large intestines takes water from the food before discarding the brown thing we call poop. That's why I suggest drinking more water.

What is actually happening is that you are pushing with your neck, and tightening the muscles around the artery traveling to your brain so the oxygen rich blood is not traveling with the typical ease you are used to. Rather than push with your face and neck, try to push with your butt. If you fall over or pass out go see a doctor, or if you just want to make sure, however it sounds like what i have just suggested. Also, don't forget to breathe, its very important. Eat more fiber.
