Kukoc	Ice. See a doctor to make sure you haven't caused some damage that won't heal on its own. One concern is that it could bleed so much that it will build pressure and hurt more--you might need to have a doctor drill a small hole to relieve the pressure. Note that I said "a doctor, not you. I was then told to tap on it, sort of like flick it, 3 times, and it helps relieve some of the pressure...but nothing will take the pain totally away until it heals! Good luck, hope you feel better! Kells	stick it in ice water. It'll hurt for a few days at least, probably longer. You're just gonna have to stick it out. Take some Ibuprofen. IF you can only get one I would recommend this one. "Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicines" by Stephen Cummings, MC and Dana Ullman, MPH . jonshaw9123	if youre fingernail is just blue and not totally busted that means theres blood underneath it and you need to get that out to relieve the pressure. i did that many times when playing football and dad told me what to do... you have to get a needle or a drill bit or something sharp to make a hole in the nail and get the blood out... this is gross but it helps i promise you. and it will look normal when youre fingernail grows out of it. i hope i helped! good luck man. Soccergurl15	yes! i did! my nail turned purple/black within 10 minutes and it felt like a throbbing pain in my finger. i ended up having to get a doctor take a hot needle and put it on the nail! it was so painful but soo worth it! i relieves the pressure big time!! LadyOverdose	My best friend smashed his fingernail with a hammer once. Best thing to do right now is place it in ice for the time being. It helps with the swelling. Maybe take some Ibuprofen for the pain. If the nail turns slightly redish-purpleish its bleeding inside. Dont freak. It will turn black and through the growing of the nail it will fade.
