Queston about stitches...?

I have stitches on my knee, some gauze and stuff over it. Is it okay to get it wet (I.E. taking a shower), or do I need to cover it with something else?...

You don't want to get them wet. Try just taking a spongebath. You will get clean and not get the bandage wet. It's what most doctors recomend you do for such an occassion.
Good luck!

No don't get them wet, if you do, make sure to change the dressing and keep it dry.Try plastic wrap or take a bath and keep your leg up?

Yes! It is recommended that you wash the area to keep it clean to remove foreign debris or dirt.

Then, change the dressing and apply ointment, if there is any. Stitches (Sutures) material is classified as absorbable or nonabsorbable, if absorbable, it will help the sutures disolve over time as the wound heals.

Keeping the area clean helps your wound heal correctly. However, if you notice any signs of infection, visit a hospital emergency room if you can not see your doctor, today.

Hope this answers your question!

what discharge instruction if any where you given at the hospital?
if you where not given any then go ahead, I would be careful you still could catch an infection.

The first several days you need to cover it with something water tight. After that time has gone by, then you can leave the wound uncovered all the time, and a shower won't be a problem. You need to make sure you do some walking, that way your knee doesn't get stiff. Hope you feel better......best of luck to you.

No because you could infect it because it's not fully healed yet and you don't want to take a shower take a bath a put that leg out of the tub so nothing doesn't get in contact with the cut.

Do not get wet, you could wrap with plastic wrap and tape it down well
