Children's art supplies are non-toxic for this very reason. I would recommend a call to his pediatrician or to poison control just to be on the safe side though. Chances are it will pass.

A crayon does not have any chemicals that you need to worry about intoxicating your son. They are pretty much just wax and different colored dyes. So long as he chewed it to some extent or swallowed a part of it less than about an inch and a half long, you can just wait for it to pass out in his stool. Any color on his teeth is a sure sign that chewing has occured.
If you did not see how long the section he swallowed was, just keep an eye on him for a possible bowel obstruction. If he starts to have some abdominal pain, runs a fever, or his bowel movements suddenly stop occuring for a few days, take him to you local hospital's Emergency Department for evaluation. This is not a likely scenario, but anything is possible.

If he's choking or having difficulty breathing, go to the ER. If it's just a small portion of crayon, no big deal. They are non-toxic. If it was a big chunk, just watch to make sure it passes (gross, I know.) Anyway, good luck. Enjoy your little boy.

No crayons are not toxic. I am going to assume that it was a piece of a crayon and not the entire crayon.
As long as it is not blocking any air ways I would not be concerned.
It just has to work its way through his system.

If it was a whole crayon take him to the hospital. If it was just a bite size piece I wouldn't worry about it too much. CRAYOLA'S ingredients are suppose to be non-toxic... it was a CRAYOLA brand right?

Luckily crayons are non toxic. i think kids have been eating them since they were invented.
The worse that could happen is he may get slightly constipated. Mostly likely though, you won't see a single symptom of anythning wrong.

be ready for crayon poo! seriously though. it is ok. my kids have eaten crayon. it will be pretty gross and very difficult to wipe when it comes out the other end. you can call your doctor or your doc's nurses if you're still concerned. or if you live in the us you can always call poison control at 1-800-222-1222
and in reference to the above poster, you never ever induce vomit in a child. you should never give them Ipecac either. ask your doc

call poison control and let them know - they'll let you know what you have to do - if you have to do anything at all. My 8 year old swallowed a quarter and after a million panicked doctor appointments that I drug him to, he never had a problem. He was fine, I'm sure yours will be too!
