Aloe is wonderful. It stops a lot of the burning. Sunburns also take time to heal. It all just depends on how bad the burn is. If your burn is really really bad, do not use Solarcaine. One of my friends told me to use it last year after I got a very very sever burn (It took over 3 weeks to heal) and it was extremely painful. It just made everything worse. It even says on the bottle not to use on burns.

usually you just have to wait because the skin has to grow back since it's now dead. all of those work too. alot of aloe- drink plenty of water. take a vitamin C tablet or supplement because it helps the skin grow back

All of that is what I would suggest!
DO NOT use regular lotion on it though! It brings the burn up and makes it hurt even worse!

aloe and an aloe based product is definitely the best and quickest remedy for sunburn. It will be very cool to the touch on the sunburnt area and may tingle, but it just means its working.

i would use Aloe cause its also good for relief. Aloe is known to be good for burns and your skin in general so if you use Aloe it'll be really cool on your skin where you got burned so it provides relief while healing the burn and is also good for your skin. As for what Aloe to use, there are medicated ones like the clear bottled green one at walgreens which I hear works really well.

The fastest is the Lidocaine spray with Aloe...the Lidocaine
quickly, almost instantly, numbs the sunburn while the Aloe helps to heal.

Ok, so you are feeling guilty about over doing the sun, and under doing the Sunscreen. Now your skin is flaming red, and you are feeling the pain. Natural health practitioner recommend, essential oil, herbs, and folk remedies, to help you heal.
First, drink lots of water to counteract the drying effects from the sun. Then head for the fridge, get a cucumber, cut it into thin, flexible disks, wipe the cool slices over the sensitive areas, using circular motion. Also try applying sliced, or grated cucumbers to burned eyelids, cucumbers contains anti-swelling compounds.
Apple cider vinegar is a time tested remedy for sunburns, you can dilute with an equal part of water, mix, then pour into a spray bottle, mist your skin. This remedy can help prevent blistering, and peeling.
Aloe Vera can often be misused when it comes to treating sunburns. The problem is that applied by itself; aloe vera is an Astringent and can be drying. Herbalists and Aroma therapist often advise sun burned patients to mix aloe vera with a Vitamin E caps{simply pierce the Vitamin E caps}then mix with aloe Vera gel and apply {often the store bought aloe vera cream with Vitamin E mixed into it is such a small dose that it will not be as helpful.}
Aloe Vera sunburn spray:
20 drops Lavender oil
20 drops Tea Tree Oil
20 drops Chamomile oil
4-ounce aloe Vera juice
Mix aloe vera and oils together, pour into a spray bottle. Shake well. Spray affected area several times a day.
Aloe Vera and Honey spray:
This spay helps relieve the heating effect of sunburns
¼ c. dried Calendula flowers
¼ c. dried Lavender buds
¼ c. Peppermint
¼ c. honey
2 c. water
Place water in pan, bring to a boil, turn down the heat, add herbs heating them on low for 10-15 minutes, strain , add aloe vera juice and honey, mix well, pour mixture into a spray bottle, and spray affected area several times a day.
St John’s Wort
2-3 teaspoons of dried flowering tops
1c. of hot water
Steep dried flowering tops in hot water for 10-15 minute, the water will turn red, strain, cool, pour in spray bottle and mist your skin or apply to the skin with a clean cloth. St John’s Wort has wound-healing properties and is an anti-inflammatory; reduceing pain and speeding healing of minor burns.
We all would like that golden suntan, but the risks are just to high, we have all heard the warnings, and know the golden rules on protecting our skin. Practicing commonsense now can protect you later.
The alternatives: Sunless tanning lotion or salons tanning spray. Always scrub well before applying a self-tanner or before going to a salon tanning spray any dry patch will absorb too much color and your tan will look uneven.
Sunlight can be very good; all life forces and plants depend on the sunlight for energy. The sun gives life to the earth and gives us images of great beauty. There is no reason not to enjoy a bright summer day and have to pay for it later. Just put into action, the golden rules on protecting your skin

Try to find something by the name 'foille'. (pronounced foil -e) It is an over the counter product used widely by fire departments for burn victims. I recently tried to find some and finally resorted to locating it on the internet. Long ago I got such a bad sunburn that I wound up in the hospital ER with 2nd degree burn and in the waiting room there was an elderly lady that told me about it. She said her deceased husband was a firefighter all his adult life and this was the product of choice by fire departments nationwide. Also the Dr in the ER told me to apply cold wet cloths soaked in ice water with a bit of vinegar in it and repeat the application over and over to provide relief along with 2 Aspirin or ibuprofin every 4-6 hours for pain and inflammation etc. Good luck, I definitely feel your pain .... OUCH!!

100% pure aloe vera gel--alcohol free. Slather on generous amounts and stand right in front of your fan or air conditioner.
Most sunblocks will tell you, right on the bottle, to apply BEFORE going out. Sometimes it says 15mins prior, or it just says before. Always do at least 15 mins before exposure, to be safe. But what do ppl do? They put the stuff on right when they get to the beach, not realizing that they already started burning in the car on the way there!

i use something called "ocean potion" you can get it at wal*mart, walgreens, and other places like that. it is a green and/or blue gel that you rub on it. then put on some lotion to moisturize it. Ibuprofen will do NOTHING stay away from it! or there is something called "solarcaine" that is a green minty gel. stay away from things with any types of oil because that will feel good at first but then after it all rubs off it will burn lke no tomorrow and oils just lock in the burning and stinging while it helps the burn for awhile but in the long-run its the worst....trust me i have been through it all!
:]] hope it helped
