1. Avoid alcohol. Of course, you probably wouldn't be reading this if you had decided to avoid it completely. Just realize that excessive drinking of alcohol is what causes most hangovers. The next steps assume that you are planning on a night of drinking.
2. Eat a good dinner before you go out. If you can stomach it, drink some milk or olive oil. The food will absorb some of the alcohol you are about to drink, and the milk or olive oil will line your stomach, creating a protective layer.
3. Choose clear alcohol like vodka, white wine, and light rum instead of red wine, whisky, brandy, and sherry. Similarly the dark beers have more consequence the morning after.
4. Continue eating as you drink. Fats and carbs will put a brake on alcohol absorption, while eating sugars will replace the sugar stores that the booze removes from your liver.
5. Drink a glass of water after every alcoholic drink. Alcohol dehydrates your body--this causes the headaches and other aches you feel during a hangover. One glass of water in between every glass of alcohol is a good principle.
6. Know your limits. Avoid getting into buying rounds among your friends, as this will just encourage you to drink more. Instead, just buy your own drinks at your own pace, or agree to a certain budget with your companions.
7. Drink another glass or two of water when you return home, and, if possible, have something else to eat, especially a banana or two.
8. Take a Multivitamin or liver salts before bed to replace the vitamins and minerals lost as a result of drinking alcohol. If you ate a good meal before going out, this step may be unnecessary. But better safe than sorry.
* While you shouldn't mix types of alcohol, if you do always drink the hardest type at the start of the night, and the weakest at the end. Remember this rhyme to help: "Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, you're in the clear."
* In terms of amount of alcohol consumed, 12 oz of beer = 5 oz of wine = 1.5 oz of spirits. Don't think you're drinking less because you're drinking white wine instead of Jack Daniels and Coke.
* Cheese and nuts are good foods to take while drinking because the high fat content slows the absorption of alcohol. Bar snacks are your friends.
* Avoid smoking. Smoking constricts your lungs and decreases the oxygen flow to your blood stream. Less oxygen means more hangover.
* Vitamin B helps replace the nutrients lost while drinking. Take a b-Complex vitamin before you start drinking and another before you go to sleep.
* A good source of vitamin B is brewer's yeast, which is in homebrewed beer and bottled conditioned beers. Therefore drinking these might give you less of a hangover. It can also be found in some energy drinks like Red Bull but be careful of consuming too much along with alcohol, as it can cause the heart to beat too fast.
* When deciding how much to drink, always take the ratio of stomach contents (food you've eaten) to alcohol into consideration. The more you've eaten, the more you can drink without feeling light-headed.
* Don't drink on an empty stomach.
* Don't drink and drive. If you are planning to drink a lot, have a designated driver handy.
* Just because you've taken preventative steps against hangovers, that doesn't mean you won't get drunk. Always drink responsibly.
* Always read the label on vitamins or any other drugs, especially the health warnings, to ensure that there will be no adverse side effects when mixed with alcohol.
* Never take Tylenol (Acetaminophen) for a hangover; it can cause severe liver damage when combined with alcohol because Tylenol alone taxes the liver considerably. The resulting liver damage is permanent and cumulative.

Always eat before you drink. The food that you've digest absorbs the liquor instantly. Try not to drink too much, it's not good. Ladies don't drink, we sip. LOL. Remember that. And never try takin any pills before drinkin, this can be fatal. Never mix dark liquor with light. Stick with the same thing that you've started with. Also mix your liquor with juice, or ice. Chasers are good.

Drink a glass of water for every drink you consume. Dehydration is really the culprit--that headache is really dehydration! Every single time I didn't drink lots of water before I had a drink, or didn't do the drink-to-water thingy---I always woke up with a headache.
Drink UP!!

Stay away from any sort of pain-reliever. The water suggestion, pedialite, and gaterade according to a 1:1 schedule. That is, 12 oz of beer 12 oz of aforementioned. Multivitamin, add extra b-complex, c, and e. Should be good to go.

You get hangovers because you are dehydrated! Therefore, for every alcohol related drink you consume, you need to drink one glass of water. You will feel much better the next day!

Don't drink??? Lots of water before bed is good...and I wouldn't go with Tylenol..you've done enough to your liver already. And eat while you drink..it will absorb the alcohol. Know your limit, you can drink and have fun without getting completely wasted.

YES!! whatever you do don't mix drinks. whatever you start off drinking keep drinking it throughout the night and please what ever you do don't mix dark and light liquor. If you get up in the morning and you still feel a hangover coming on drink a cold beer and it will be gone and no time....it works Ive tried it a thousand times!! my grandfather told me this and so far hes been correct.

before you go to bed, drink a little water and take 1 Aspirin. If you think you will be too drunk to do this, then prepare it before your party and put it by your bed or in the bathroom.

It's all about hydration. Alcohol in large quantities can cause dehydration. The best way to avoid a hangover....other than avoiding alcohol....is try to drink a glass of water to every 2-3 drinks of alcohol. If you can keep yourself hydrated then you will avoid a hangover. Hope this helps.
