Will pushups make me "beefier"?
My body is fine,I'm slender, I just need to make my arms larger. I dont have weights, I cant afford them, I dont have a gym to go to and I dont know anyone that has weights. I've thought using "sandbags",something along these lines, in lue of weights. However, I like pushups better. I find them a little bit more fun and easier.

When ever I do pushups I do about 120, but I will increase the number after some time. I do regular pushups, knuckle pushups, diamond pushups and elevated pushups. I try to vary up the way I do pushups. I also do sit ups, dips, crunches and lunges for other muscles. I watch my diet and eat fairly healthy as well and I drink lots of water.

So anyway, will I get "beefier" this way? Thanks!

120 pushups? Just make sure you get the form right first before going for the high numbers. If you can do 60-70 good pushups in one sitting, then thats very good. Even 50 is still good. But pushups are not normally great for "beefing up", but they will build muscles and tone your arms. I know big, huge guys that go to the gym every day that bang out 40-45 pushups, its really a different exercise combined with endurance. But a good push-up consists of 90 degree angles in the arms, moving your body as a single unit, no slouching your back, no bending your legs. Look for some military tips and diagrams, those should help.

Why so serious?
Yes you will. Sounds like your doing everything right to me, but you may also want to do pull ups on a bar. (you can find bars anywhere...even a local playground!)

To answer your question? Yes. Don't forget pull ups. They are key to larger arms. You can secure a solid bar across a door way to have your your pull up bar.

Make sure you're doing your push ups the 'correct' way. You may want to ask someone professional if you have the time and money, because if you are doing your push ups the wrong way, you might not work out the muscles that you intend to.

You have to do them as slow as you can. U can even fill up a backpack with stuff, put it on, and use it as resistance. Also, if you want more, before u start doing ur pushups, stay still with ur body still in the position where ur arms are stretched out. If you do this for a minute, once you go down to do the pushup, u will muscles will start shaking because they are so stimulated.

yes defiently will get a bigger chest and bigger arms... u are doing a good variety of pushups and that helps.. seems to me u know what u are doing..

u should also use the sandbags.. i saw in a mens health magazine that it was a good workout, as your body does not get use to it, and the weight is always shifting in them..

make sure u are also eating more protein, and good carbohydrates.. u cannot get bigger if u are not getting enough calories..

pushups will bulk up your chest more than your arms. try doing some curls with dumbells, and those backwards curls to work your tris.

Absolutly not, Pushups isolate the shoulder and chest area. Triceps and biceps are NOT being worked in pushups. I recommend Dips: http://www.myfit.ca/exercisedatabase/images/dips.gif
for triceps and pull ups for biceps

Slightly, but push-ups work arms and chest. If you want mass, eat more protein.
You can check classified ads for dumbbells. Second hand, maybe 10 or 20 bucks. You would want 60 lbs in weight minimum!

If you want stronger arms, then yes, that will make your arms stronger. And while push-ups work out many parts of your body, not all of them are included. So perform some other exercises if you want your entire body (mainly your legs) to be "beefy." Also, if the two-handed push-up gets boring, you can always alternate between arms doing a one-armed push-up: try one, you'll see what I mean. :P Good luck with your training! ^_^
