It's a trait found in very few animals. I think it's a relic trait past from our times as early humans. Than everyone was more cocncerned with food, and shelter and warmth than concern, and politness.
It has a lot to do with your location/environment. Southerners are world wide known for their being friendly and polite. Northerners are (especially New York) for being rude especially towards southerners. It's a long running item with them resulting from fibious media reporting. Many northerners who move to the South are surprised to learn that most of what they have been told all their lives is untrue.
fact. At one time there were as many slave holding northerners as there was southerners. fact;
Southerners do not today own of daily punish blacks.
Southern blacks actually get alone with southern whites better than they do in the north.
The message is misunderstanding and how you were brought up.with the influx of new people both northerners, and foreign, cable tv, video, intergration, has resulted in a lesser degree of politness in the South.
Most new arrivals simply show little respect here because there was not much where they come from. New yorkers for some rare off the wall reason only they understand take pride in being rude, and aggrerssively unpolite.
A friend who once lived in New York 10 years walked his dog every day down an elevator with his neighbor and his dog, and they never once spoke to each other after doing this all those years. The guy was either scare dof him or just rude. He tried to be a good neighbor.

This really isn't a Diet and Fitness question.
For emotional fitness you should certainly avoid even thinking mean thoughts about other people. If you avoid mean thoughts, you will not speak mean words. If you avoid mean words you will also avoid mean actions. Thoughts, speech and action are the "clothing" we put upon our soul. Watch what you are "wearing" and make sure that it is all good to look at.
This advice doesn't help you with those who are mean to you, but if everyone would practice this the world would be a better place.

Lack of self esteem and jealousy. It's sad but true. People talk about world peace but yet they grew up making fun of the "fat kid on the bus".

Sometimes, when someone is mean to you at a young age, you grow up mean...but you aren't really mean...you are hurting. This is why it is important to be respectful to all you meet.
