Some do for health reasons, and that is fair enough, the media is constantly putting pictures of skinny girls in front of us and it makes us feel not good enough. The fact that most men will say that the models are hot does not help, on the one hand they say they like girls curvy, on the other hand none of them would kick Kate Moss out of bed for being too skinny, so how can we win?

Ive never been on a diet and dont have any intention of being on one. As long as I know Im eating a (fairly!) balanced diet and doing a bit of exercise then I dont see the point in fighting my body. I was tiny at school, like a 6/8 but now Im a busty 14 on top and 10/12 bottom half and I LOVE my curves! Seriously! and everyone comments on how well Im looking. :O) Dont deny yourself babe, your body will find its ideal size eventually and even tho it might not be what you think it should be, till be the healthiest size :O) xx

It's not about men, its about women.
All women compete with each other to be the prettiest flower, that's biology for you. At the moment the vogue is for thin so women compete to get thin.
Stick 5 women who don't know each other in a room for 2 hours with a cream bun. That bun will still be there at the end of the day as no woman wanted to look 'weak' in front of others.

Because being grossly overweight is not attractive or healthy. However much the media is playing on the fact that being overweight is attractive , they are lying.
I don't feel good or healthy when i am too overweight that is why i eat less, i never diet , i still have what i want just in moderation.

Women are constantly watching their figure due the pressure put on ourselves through the media.
An emphasis is constantly put on celebrities who are generally thin and if they put on a small bit of weight the media cricifies them.
Women are constantly trying to look like their favourite actress or pop singer.
Women have to remember that the average size in britain today is 16/18. We don't like in LA so why do we want to be a size 0.
Curves are in ;-)

Worst problem of my life. I suppose because clothes look better on skinny girls, pressure of the medias, models, etc... Good luck to every girl who's on a diet.

God knows !!
All red blooded men like a bit of flesh. I would defy any man to go bag to a bag of bones once theyd experienced some beautiful curves...
I actually get repulsed if I see a really skinny girl, with no bum, and I think deep down inside at the "deep rooted instinct" level, its because I feel that they wouldnt be a healthy mother to my children..
If your a little large, then being confident with it is VERY sexy,
work on attitude and confidence instead of weight, and then youve got it for life... concentrate on size and you may get skinny, but youll put it on and be even worse than before.

The reason that we diet is to look and feel as good as we can. The same reason as wearing nice clothes and make up.I am sure that every woman would like to be thin and I am sorry but I just do not believe people that are really large and say they are happy with their weight.

Beats me, I feel much better when I am thin even though when I lost alot of weight, my husband told me I looked awful with no clothes on, all jutting out bones. It's all about how we see ourselves and striving to look as perfect as the models and actresses we see (usually airbrushed) in the magazines. We are a very strange species

It's been years since I was a size 10!! I want to slim down so my clothes fit me more than to be attractive. Ok I was more attractive when I was a size 10 and it felt good, but my boobs sagged after having my baby!
If I could choose which body parts I could slim then I wouldn't diet and just focus on what I have to do. But if I had to loose weight I'd get all saggy. I'm kinda stuck!! My partner loves me the way I am and he knows I want to be thinner too. But at the end of the day, I want to be slimmer for me, and so I could fit into those I kept by, just in case.

To fit in and feel confident. I was bullied for being too big in my teens, so I constantly now keep an eye on my weight, getting too big brings back bad memories. I'm a 12 but am quite short. I would kill to look like beyonce, or to be a 10, stupid I know, but emotions are not sensible.

B/c we all have body issues (even the gals who say they don't), we would all like to be 10-20 (OR 50) pounds thinner (even the gals who say they don't) and we are all teetering on the brink of an eating disorder.
We're all f**ked, even the gals who say they aren't.

I'm on a diet right now but its a very sensible one and the reason I'm doing it is because I have put too much weight on recently, I just want to feel healthier and better, I'm at the age were things like arthritis and osteoarthritis can kick in and I really don't want to be carrying the extra weight round if that happens as both of those ailments are painful enough as it is, I will never be as slim as you simply because I don't think I have the willpower to do it, but my hubby loves me as I am now but understands for health reasons I need to lose a few stone, I honestly think diets are part and parcel of our makeup these days and an obsession for some woman, as long as you diet very sensibly and never get below your BMI then your fine, good luck but you sound like the perfect weight to me.

I have spent most of my teenage years and the first few years in my twenties constantly worrying about being thin and starving myself to the point of silly just to look half as good as I thought the models in magazines look. Now at 25, I have decided sod it. I am never happy when dieting, I spend all that time thinking about food and never touching drink, anything with the word calorie associated with it, and it has always been a miserable time. I am 5ft 4in, weigh ten stone and although I do have some parts of my body that do get me down sometimes, fat days are never a thing of the past eh??, I have decided to just eat healthy and still enjoy the odd pizza and chocolate bar. I don't think I will ever be happy with the way I look completely, although I love my curves and rather plump breasts (as does the other half!!), but I can at least be comfortable in myself, which is what I am now and I eat junk food some days and healthy the others but I am the ideal weight, according to my doctor, I look healthy, feel comfy and don't stress anymore about food. I just wish I had felt like this when I was younger because even at my thinnest (8 1/2 stone, not a good look!) I was not as confident as I am now. It is silly to stress about food, we are here to eat and enjoy ourselves, do we really think that being super skinny and famous is a good combination??

Because, when we gain weight, we usually don't look like beyonce, we look flabby. And it is more important to us not to be flabby.

Good question. I want to lose weight for my health. I don't want to be skinny. My husband likes boobs and a butt. Skinny girls have neither. I just want to be healthy. Size 10 is amazing. Just eat healthy foods and be proud of your small size.

My partner has said the exact same thing. I once dieted too far, and I would often clip him with my hip bone.
Fashion gurus are to blame. They want all women to look like school boys. Not excess fat, no boobs, hips, or bum.
All the men I know love Beyounce. She is a woman's woman. The scrawny ones look as if they are ready for the grave.

I would never diet for a man! I am a size 14 and I am generally happy with myself. If I feel a bit sluggish and bloated I diet to make me feel better physically. It is important to look after your health. Exercise is the key.. diets do not work unless you exercise. Be proud of who you are and lose weight for yourself and not for the benefit of anyone else.

its a self constraint of the feminine society have put upon themselves.
i think it the self image idealism of woman that is the problem.it also can be seen in "i have nothing to wear" though the closet is full of clothes. there is no clothes that are there that meet your idea of the perceived way you think society thinks you should look.
it annoys me that my girlfriend says to me that she is fat and she clearly isnt.when i try to say she isn't, she attacks my sincerity. she defends the illusion not the reality of how she really is.
