Swimming is a good exercise to tone up. If you really want to lose fat in your tummy...you should mix swimming once a week with outdoor jogging twice a week!
Also do weight exercises such as push ups, bicep curls, planks etc.

swimming is a good exercise, but you should also be on a diet and try other activities as well such as running, sit ups, push ups, pliometrics, yoga, and many others. As long as you have a computer its really easy to look up ways to get healthy.

At one hour a day you will burn some serious calories, that is IF you do it non stop. unlike jogging on a treat mill to swim for an hour straight is exhausting and not as easy.

hey, your on the right track, but it's not gonna go away by just excercise, you have to eat right also.like instead of ice cream, eat fat free yogurt, it's healthier and tastier! it has NO fat in it, which makes it better. the main thing is to eat right and you will be fine, but that doesn't mean you don't need to excercise, you need to excercise atleast 1 hour a day. but i'm giving you a warning, do NOT become anorexic, which means don't excercise or eat only healthy things crazily, and by the way, eat a little fat each day because humans need fat in their body.
hope you take my advice.

Losing weight is difficult. I think cardio would be way more effective than swimming. Swimming may be relaxing and fun, but I suggest running first. Run for a couple miles, then hop in the swimming pool for some cool down laps. Eat real healthy too! Jackrabbits aren't fast 'cause they eat junk food all day, its 'cause they eat salads and such. Stick to wholesome fruits and veggies, an incredibly physically active lifestyle, and you should kick that 40 lbs off your stomach area in no time.!! HOPE THIS HELPS!

Swimming is good exercise if you make it be good exercise. I mean, you've gotta push yourself a little, whatever you do. Two advantages of swimming are that the water helps keep you cold, and it's easy on your joints because there is no impact from jumping up and down.

Yeah, swimming uses up a lot of calories and is really fun to do. If you are overweight, you might not want to start of with swimming vigorously for an hour everyday, but as long as you get tired you should be losing weight soon. Good luck ;}

Swimming is excellent exercise! You'll use all your muscles, but it's a low-impact workout (so there is less risk of muscle strain). But, you'll only lose weight if you also watch what you eat.

Swimming is an excellent exercise to get involved with, since it increases blood flow and uses muscles we don't regularly use. Start a swimming program and try to do it at least 3 times a week. You will feel excellent and rejuvenated!
But to lose "belly fat", keep these in mind:
Don't eat late at night.
Eating late at night can cause you to store more fat in your waist and stomach. Stop eating 3 hours before your go to bed. If you need a snack, eat something healthy like a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts (unsalted).
Eat often, but in small portions. The less your body peaks and falls on the blood sugar scale, the less likely it will be to overeat and/or store unwanted fat. Ideally, cut calories, but don’t starve yourself. If you eat the right foods and eat often enough, you won’t find yourself eating huge portions and overeating in general.
Eat fats like fish oil, sunflower oil, flax Seed Oil. Also whole grains, legumes, and vegetables and limiting meats. Ease up on the salt and gassy foods that cause you to bloat.
You can also try these exercises:
Belly rolls strengthen your vertical abdominal muscles. Sit with your legs bent, with feet flat on the floor and arms straight in front of you. Exhale and roll back until your lower back touches the ground and stop for a moment. Inhale and roll back up. Repeat 15 times.
In the same position, exhale and roll back until your shoulder blades touch the ground and momentarily stop. Inhale and roll back up. Repeat 15 times.
Tummy curls work on your horizontal abdominal muscles. Lie on your back and bend your knees at an (almost) 90-degree angle to the floor with your feet raised slightly higher than your knees. Breathe out, lifting your butt and rolling back to your shoulder blades. Inhale and roll to your tailbone and stop. Try not to let your bottom touch the ground. Repeat 20 times.
Cross crunches are hard work but they're miracle workers at cinching waists. You will need a liter bottle filled with water for this one. Lie on your back with your knees bent at a 90-degree angle with the floor. With your left hand cradling your head, hold the water bottle in your right hand. Lift your head and shoulders off the ground and reach across your body, so the bottle is outside your left knee. Pulse 20 times and then switch sides and repeat.
Tailbone lifts work your lower abdomen and can help reduce a belly pouch. Lay on your back, with your arms stretched straight over your head and legs fully extended and crossed in the air. While breathing out, lift your tailbone then slowly lower as you inhale. To get maximum effect from this, don't let your bum just drop, you want to resist on the way down. Repeat 30 times.
This is a favorite of mine as inverted crunches work your lower back which improves posture and strength. Lie on your belly with your arms in front of you as though you are flying like Superman. Exhale, lifting your right arm and left leg as high as you can. As you inhale, lower slowly. Switch, lifting your left arm and right leg. Repeat 20 times.
In the same position, lift both arms and legs twenty times.
Yoga.
Yoga exercise can help reduce the fat around your waist and strengthen your core while helping you maintain your fat levels. Yoga will also help you develop good posture.
Posture.
Stand up strait and hold in your stomach. This will strengthen your abs as well as keep your stomach from bulging out. Maintaining a good posture will instantly make your stomach look slimmer and your waist smaller.
Computer time.
When you are sitting at the computer, be aware of your posture. Are you hunched over with your stomach bulging out? Make sure you hold in your stomach so you don't develop a pooch.
Good Luck!
