wow, that's harsh! It sounds like you are probably a very muscular person and your mom is really mean! no offense, but that is so hypocritical! I have about your exact physique and I am totally fine with my body. My legs are muscular and they LOOK FINE! I don't know why people are so critical of people like us. it'snot like we can really lose the muscle that we've worked long hours to gain! But that's just me. I think that about 125-130 is an ideal weight range for someone of your build. don't let her get you down. :) I hope that helps some!

The funny thing about weight is that whole weight : height ratio is sometimes inaccurate about revealing obesity and overweightness (I think I made that word up). I have a good male friend who is 5'8" and weighs between 190 and 210. He is a wrestler, rugby player and elementary school gym teacher. His weight : ratio puts him far into the overweight chart but he is the most in shape, healthy person I've ever met.
The reason his weight : height ratio is offscale is because muscle weighs more than fat. Therefore if you are working out 5 days a week dancing, you may be burning fat (weighs less) and replacing it with muscle (weighs more).
Secondly, your BFF will not be wearing a two for much longer. You probably just developed your hips before she did or if she never develops hips, good luck with a painful child birth. I wear about a size 7 due to my hips but Im thin and healthy. Plus you probably look better than her when you dance because you have some curves to flaunt.
Lastly, don't worry about what your parents think of you; think about how you feel about yourself, the person you want to be or already are, and your dreams for your life. Your parents are probably saying mean things because they don't want you to end up out of shape like them.

Ok first of all. Whatever you feel comfortable with matters most. I don't think your overweight. I fit a size 4 to 5 and I'm a model. Some say oh you should be a size 1 or 2 but no the new thing is being as tight and fit as possiable not weight or starving yourself. Just stay healthy. You said you work out alot. Okay well the areas you feel you are gaining weight do exercises just for those areas too. You can look on youtube it helps alot. Just keep up the working out and maybe watch what you eat a bit during the week but STAY HEALTHY. Dont starve yourself because once you eat again you will gain it on like crazy and when you dont eat regularly its harder to loose weight after awhile. Trust me I know. Just eat healthy and stay fit. So what if people say your friends a size 2, she probably has a different body frame then you. Just think healthy, I really don't think you have much to worry about at all.

im sorry :( i know that sucks to be told that by your mom :( anywayss from what you've said ur pretty much fine with your weight and height and excercise. if you really wanna get in shape all you can do is eat healthier and by that i mean portion sizes and better choices food wise and knowing your limits. but for excercie, make sure you do ALOT of cardio. mostly cardio. like tredmile, elimpticle.. ect.. make sure not to do anything unhealthy! also maybe up your excercises to 5 out of 7 days a week for an hour a day. also make sure you dont loose more than 3 pounds a week.. thats just bad..
also about your mom; confront her by saying basically you asked her for help with a diet and she said your fine how you are then she said you DO need to diet and that it bothered you.
i really hope i helped girl!
keep me updated!

Your mother is an idiot. She's rude and, I'm willing to bet, the real fat *** in the family.
Why can't you just hate your mother like a normal 16 year old? I really think teenagers are too mature these days. Jeeze.

I think you are fine and your mom should have watched her tongue. I guess that you talk to your mom and let her know that she hurt your feelings.
And as for dieting it is not healthy for somebody your age to take on a diet. But it is very reasonable for you to work out and eat a well balanced diet. Do not eat a lot of junk food and stay away from the soda pops and high calorie coffees.

OK, here's the deal:
#1 Your mom was dead wrong for saying that to you!!
#2 Your bff is too skinny, sz 2 IS TOO SMALL, your mom was wrong about that too!
#3 You are just the right size
#4 Don't worry about what other people think
#5 Don't obsess about your weight! I'm sure you are very pretty!!
#6 YOU DON'T NEED TO GO ON A DIET!
#7 You are working out PLENTY!!
#8 Find something else to occupy your mind
#9 Be positive and love yourself for who you are INSIDE
#10 Tell your mom how you feel about what she said

FORGET your mom, that was completely unnecessary. Why do women (and especially moms) do this to other women? There is absolutely nothing wrong with being 5'2" and 123.
Muscle weighs more than fat. If you're working out and doing dance, then you're just fine. Don't let this crap get into your head, just concentrate on eating healthy and exercise.

First off tell your mom to shut her trap, no person let alone your mother should make you feel like you need to lose weight. For your height you are right where you need to be. If you have a small frame you are supposed to be between 108-124, a medium frame 118-132, and a large frame 128-143. You are at a good weight, the only reason you should want to lose weight is if you are unhappy with yourself. Honestly, don't worry about the number, think about the image you see. Are you happy with yourself?
As for your friend, she either lied to you about her weight or she's not healthy. A girl at 5'7, even for a small frame should be between 123-136. Tell her to eat something!

Don't let people tell you how you should be. Unless you are like 400 pounds there's nothing wrong with you. As long as you like the way you are no one else should matter.

hi nessa~
i'm so sorry that your mom was insensitive about your weight. you are actually within normal limits for your height. current standards say that a female who is 5'2" should be a MINIMUM of 110 lbs, and 145 lbs on the higher end. so you are 100% normal. sometimes even parents are brainwashed by our culture of stick figures. and it's a real shame that it's getting passed down to kids. i don't blame you for being hurt. it's really hurtful to hear that, and i've been there.
i have never, ever been tiny. i've always been on the higher end of normal for my weight.... you are not even near the higher end. my best bet is that you look absolutely great. i swear to you that some people would die to be your weight. sounds like you are healthy... you get exercise. stay strong and realize that even parents don't know what they are saying sometimes. you may want to remind your mom that your friend is actually UNDERWEIGHT for her size. she should be a MINIMUM of 135 lbs!!

girl you are fine.. thats not fat.. Your friend is actually pretty slender.. if your mom says anything else about your weight.. tell her you appreciate the concern...but you are not fat...and if she insists..tell her that you two should go on a diet together..
b/c she isnt in top shape either.. that should shut her up..or get you kicked out.. :)
but maybe just sit her down and talk about what she sd... b/c a size 2 is pretty small. I wear a 6/7..

I am 5'2. I am 125. Normal weight for people our height is 110 to 130. So you are fine....its your friend i'm worried about, she is a stick! That's not healthy. You are healthy, and guys nowadays like curves. I know my bf loves mine! You'll look great in everything you wear, with no worries. Be happy, i think you have an ideal weight!

Oh god...I can't beleive she said that. I grew up with constant criticism about my weight from my mom and I think I can understand how you must feel. She had no business doing that and I can't beleive any mother would do that to her child...it is akin to bullying, but when it comes from an authority figure in your life it is way worse. Your weight is perfectly fine for your age...height etc. You are obviously very active and you certainly can't go by your friends height and weight. Bone structure has a lot to do with it and with all your exercise you probably have a lot more muscle which is heavy than fat. Don't listen to other negative talk...they are just feeling bad about themselves so they lash out at others...even their children. It is them you must feel sorry for. Be yourself and be happy and proud of who you are.

That would totally hurt my feelings. It makes your feelings of insecurity explode when two people you totallly trust act and say something that comes out of nowhere and is hurtful.
You can never compare yourself to someone else when it comes to body size. You can just try to be the best you can be. Learning to like yourself is hard for a lot of us. But you're active and just not a carbon copy of your BFF.
I'm upset that your mom would compare you to someone else. I have a 16 year old daughter and I would rather shoot myself in the toe than to ever, ever betray her feelings of trust and love. She's beautiful, as I'm sure you are, and I'm always telling her that. No, she isn't a size 2 (thank God) but she is shapely. And she has a beautiful heart. You must, too, because you're sensitive.
Stay active and eat healthy. Everything else will fall into place. Let your mom and BFF know that your feelings are hurt. And please don't take their words as the truth. I know you're great.

You are a great size and weight for your age.
If you work out three times a week that means you weigh a little more because you are muscular not fat.
So they need to suck it.
Haaa.
