You got the right idea , just not going about it the right way. Here are the basic foods you should incorporate into your "diet", especially for men, these foods should go along with whatever you are eating or instead of: almonds, beans, spinach, dairy, instant oatmeal, eggs, turkey, peanut butter, olive oil, whole grains, protein powder and berries. If you are allergic to any it goes without saying , dont eat them! Moderation is important, dont eat peanut butter sandwiches all day and think its healthy, but if you are having one have it on multigrain bread, cut down drastically on sugars and sodium, and cut off fried foods completely. Your metabolism has to be going full speed the same time that you are awake, so that means 3 meals are a must, and so are small snacks in between. Not sure how big the meals? General rule, eat like a king in the morning, like a queen at lunch, and like a peasant at dinnertime, 3 hours before bedtime. Snacks should be fruits or vegetables in between meals, if youre still hungry. Water is important, and make your body work when you ingest something, cold water has to be warmed up by your body before it goes through your system, just like choosing an orange over orange juice, body has to break down the orange first before it passes through your system, orange juice is already broken down, not much work involved to pass it through, eat smarter. Hope it helps! Good Luck!

This is a great diet compared to many others.
Best result for food intake is to eat every 2 hours and no food after 8pm (after 6 is even better).
Fasting 1 day a week helps clean and regulate the body, if you are so inclined. And regular exercise is a good thing.

3 balanced meals a day, snacking on fruit and/or veg would be a balanced diet. Everything in moderation. It sounds like you eat a lot of carbohydrates, like pasta and bread. Your body needs food from all food groups - carbs, fats, protein, vitamins and minerals. I'm sure there's another group as well, but you get the idea. It doesn't sound like you're eating unhealthily, but I think you would benefit from eating a bit more during the day. It's okay to sin sometimes!

Keep in mind the following when choosing diet plans:
Every year Americans invest billions of dollars in weight loss diets and gimmicks, many of which yield few results. However, the lure of quick, easy weight loss is hard to resist. Despite ineffective tools, most hopeful consumers are willing to give the next weight loss fad a chance. If you're planning to start a new diet, it is important to remember the following information.
Food-specific diets: Have you ever tried the Cabbage diet or the fruit-only diet? These are just a couple of examples of diets that promote one "specific" food that causes weight loss. No matter how much you think you'll enjoy ice cream at every meal, inevitably you will get bored with eating the same food repeatedly. As a result, you'll eat less food than needed to maintain your weight. This type of diet will not teach you healthier eating habits or provide a balance of nutrients, and consequently is not effective for long-term weight loss.
High-protein, low-carbohydrate diets: One of the most recent trends in dieting, these diets are based on the concept that carbohydrates are "bad" and that everyone has some degree of insulin resistance, resulting in poor carbohydrate metabolism. Many proponents of these diets suggest that including carbohydrates in your diet will cause weight gain. The reality, though, is that eating more calories (whether as carbohydrate, fats, or protein) than you burn will cause weight gain.
High-fiber, low-calorie diets: Fiber-rich foods play an important role in a healthy diet. They are a helpful ingredient of weight loss efforts because they provide bulk to the diet, which helps you feel fuller sooner. Be careful, though: if you plan to increase the fiber in your diet, be sure to increase your fluid intake at the same time or you may experience cramping, bloating, and constipation. High-fiber diets will help with weight loss only if you restrict calories in conjunction with addition of extra grains, fruits and vegetables.
Liquid diets: Consumers face a couple of different liquid diet options. Your local grocery store and pharmacy sell over-the-counter liquid meal replacements, which can be expensive and frequently add extra calories to daily consumption if not managed carefully. On the other hand are liquid diets that require medical supervision. These diets are usually very low in calories and may result in metabolic abnormalities if dieters are not carefully monitored. Neither type of liquid diet should be used for long-term weight loss unless monitored by a health care professional. Radically changing your caloric intake in this way will not result in long-term behavior modification and healthy eating patterns.
Fasting: As a way to cleanse the body or jump-start a weight-loss program, fasting has been recommended for years. However, all that fasting really does is deprive your body of nutrients and decrease your energy, leaving you feeling weak and lightheaded. If the right nutrients are not available for your cells to use as energy, your liver will convert fat stores to ketones for use as energy (ketosis). Long-term ketosis can be harmful to your health.
No fad diet or gimmick will work magic for safe and effective weight loss. The following are some suggestions for ensuring a long-term healthy eating plan and getting your weight loss efforts off to an encouraging start:
Eat a variety of foods. Remember, a balanced diet will ensure that you get all necessary nutrients.
Get some physical activity every day. Calories in must be less than calories out to ensure successful weight loss. To keep "calories out" at a healthful level, make you get at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.
Include sources of fiber in your diet. They will add bulk and give you a feeling of fullness.
Choose a diet low in fats, saturated fats, and cholesterol. You do need to consume some fat for good health. Aim for no more than 30 percent of your total calories as fat calories, of which no more than 10 percent should be saturated fat calories.
Choose foods moderate in sugars. Foods that are high in simple sugars usually offer little nutritional value and will add unwanted calories.
Choose foods moderate in salt and sodium. Remember that salt has been added to many foods during preparation or processing, so it's not necessary to add extra salt at the table.

For breakfast weetbix and low fat milk along with say banana or grapes added would be good.
Lunch you should eat chicken or fish , boiled, grilled, baked or steamed. You could pep it up with some nice olive oil and lemon dressing, and eat salads as well. For tea you can have a boiled egg a slice of brown whole wheat bread along with salmon or tuna paste taken moderately.
Dinner should be light. Soup and sweetcorn since you like it along with boiled or steamed vegetables and if you wish some turkey. I think you should stop snacking in between meals on toast, cerealbars. Fruits and nuts are good for health so take it moderately.
I think this diet I suggested is healthier than the one you are on presently.

Don't skip dinner. Skipping meals will make you gain weight unless you're anorexic at which point you are simply destroying your body. Snacks sounds good though.

Skipping meals is a MAJOR no-no. After 4 hours your body starts to enter starvation mode and slows its metabolism. You need to spread your food intake more evenly between the meals.
WIth the possible exception of your tea and supper, you have little or no protein intake earlier in the day, and too many sources of carbs and sugars from your sports drinks. Including a source of protein (fish, lean chicken meat, eggs, steak mince, lentils, pulses, quorn) will help you feel fuller than carbs alone.

This diet isn't the worst I have seen but it isn't particularly healthy either.
What's bad
Skipping meals is never a good idea as this can cause a dip in your blood sugar levels. If your blood sugar levels constantly dip and surge, you could end up pre-diabetic.
Sports drinks contain a lot of sugar so I would cut them out completely. If you must have something sweet, stick to fruit juice diluted with water.
You are not consuming enough vegetables and there is very little variety. You need at least 5 pieces of fruit and veg a day and these should be different pieces (to maximise nutrition). You should eat more vegetables than fruit as fruit contains a lot of natural sugar. For this reason, it is possible to overdo fruit consumption.
Cereal bars are not dreadful but they tend to contain a lot of sugar. I would limit your intake to 1 a day.
Eating foods like tuna pasta and eggs without vegetables or salad isn't good. Eggs are binders and are renowned for blocking you up. If you do not eat more fibre, you risk constipation.
What's good
The water is good. When you are thirsty, your body is demanding water. It doesn't need sports drinks or anything other than water (although I appreciate plain water can seem boring after a while!). Aim to drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day.
Fish is good. A variety of fish is even better. Oily fish contains essential fatty acids and omega oils so this is most nutritious but all fish (especially organic fish) is great protein. Just make sure it doesn't come in batter or breadcrumbs...
Nuts are great. A superfood. But you should only consume a small handful each day. The best nuts to eat are brazils, pecans, walnuts and almonds.
Fruit is good but don't eat too much (see above). Try to ensure that there is plenty of variety too and add berries (for example) to your Weetos in the mornings.
If you are a snacker, think about having 6 small meals a day instead of 2 large ones and a bunch of snacks. Ensure there is a balance of protein, carbohydrate (preferably wholegrains) and vegetable fibre at each meal - roughly a third of each on the plate. And when you snack, have a small handful of nuts and one or two pieces of fruit. Other than that, snack on raw vegetables and humus (very good for you). And don't forget the water!
