Well, the saying is "Too much of anything can kill you." So i wouldn't go around carrying a canteen of Diet Coke with you, haha. Like any soda, diet will also eat away at your teeth (and stain them) as the years go by, but i have a feeling you weren't asking for info about teeth. There have been tests that prove that you might as well go ahead and drink the regular 'pop' because when you DON'T drink the sugary drink and go with the one sweetened with "Splenda" or sacrine, you'll just crave the sugar and eat it in some food later. Maybe late at night. I am a 'large' guy, and i don't trouble myself about it. I drink diet if it's there, but if it's not then i don't worry TOO much. But to answer your initial question, there have been no tests that prove that "diet pop" is harmful.

Diet Coke is very dangerous to drink, i have heard a story that Diet Coke got sent to Iraq to quench all of the U.S Soilders thirst, but the Soda has a chemical called asperteme that when it heats the chemical mixes with the sugar and other ingredients in the mixture and makes the Diet Coke very dangerous if it is warm, now in this case the pop that was sent was not cool at all and 60% of the soilders got a disease so i would not recommend any Diet soda, asperteme is probably in all Diet Sodas.

Very bad for you. It has "sugar substitutes" which are artificial chemicals. These chemicals have been found to increase the risk of cancer in research tests. Who knows what else these chemicals will do after long term use? On the other hand, we know from thousands of years of use of sugar, honey and juice what those do to the body. You can get pop that is sweetend with honey or fruit juice too in some health food stores.
Better yet, if you are wanting to really lose weight, stop drinking sugary and even the 'diet' drinks all together. Your body breaks down the dissolved sugars so easily that it stores much of the extra energy it recieves from the pop as fat. That's right, sugar, especially dissolved sugar, makes you fat much more easily than eating actual animal and plant fats (if you don't think plants have any fat in them check out the fat content of peanuts and cashews for example) does.
Also, cut way back on pasta and bread. The carbohydrates in these foods are easy for your body to convert to sugar.
Eating a diet high in fiber and protein and low in sugar, starch and carbs plus any kind of excercise has always been the best way to lose weight and keep it off.

yes it is. although it is made entirely of synthetic chemicals, disrupting your body it is of most daanger to your teeth, the acid, although no sugar, disolves the tooth enamel, stains them, drys out the skin, dehydrates the body etc etc also many of its chemical ingredients are still to be investigated. knowing this i myself do drink the odd glass of pepsi max lol, everything in moderation.

It is terrible for you. Instead of making you skinnier like everyone thinks it does, it actually does the opposite. In fact diet soda is worse for you than drinking ten milkshakes in a row. Not only does it make you gain weight it also increases your chance for certain cancers and diseases. It gives you headaches frequently also. And it is all because of the fake sugar, or 'sugar alcohol', in the diet drinks. Also you can find 'sugar alcohol' in food with 'lite' on the packages. In fact 'sugar alcohol' can cut down on the number of years you live.

Its not bad for you, but it isn't good either.
First off, you have the whole mess with artificial sweeteners possibly giving you cancer, and whatever else what-have-you.
Recently studies have been showing also that your brain doesn't react to the fake sugars the same way it does real sugar. It doesn't register the diet soda as doing anything for your appetite.
In turn, they believe artificial sweeteners end up making you eat more too.
There are better options to quench your thirst. :D

Yes, it is bad for you...
1) When your body tastes something sweet, it prepares to handle sugar. Your pancreas releases insulin into your bloodstream to metabolize the sugar that is coming. Diet sodas are sweet, but they don't contains sugar. They fake out your system, and all that un-used insulin in your bloodstream is actually bad for you.
2) Aspartame is made of two amino acids fused together with methanol. at 86 degrees Fahrenheit, the molecule breaks down- the methanol breaks free of the amino acids and becomes a free radical- (Free radicals are what cause us to age, develop certain chronic conditions, and eventually die).
Yes, diet soda has fewer calories, but is it really worth it? I don't think so, but it's a personal decision.

the artificial sweeteners used in most diet soda breaks down to embalming fluid and woodgrain alcohol in the body . so yes it is extremely bad for you. there have even cases of people going temporarily blind from the side effects (although its rare) its better just to drink regular soda if you gotta drink it.

A quote from Ravi Dhingra, M.D., of Harvard Medical School.
"Taste buds are built to experience a range of flavors, from sweet to sour to bitter," he notes. "If a person eats more sweet substances - whether natural or artificial - the body gets accustomed to it and begins to crave more sweetness. That, in turn, can lead to increased consumption of unhealthy products, like soda or candy."
A quote from Susan Swithers, Ph.D, a researcher at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
"Sweet tastes trigger the body to believe that nutrients are coming," she explains. "When you consume artificially sweetened prducts, the sweet receptors of your taste buds are activated, but your stomach never receives the anticipated calories. That could disrupt the body's physicological response, possibly causing people to eat more food overall."
Not only that, but diet soda is also linked to metabolic syndrome. It was formerly believed that only regular soda was linked to this, but recent studies have proved that both increase the risk of developing metabolic syndrome.
Metabolic syndrome is a term used to describe having 3 or more of 5 cardiovascular risk factors: elevated blood pressure, increased waist circumference, low HD (or "good") cholesterol, and higher blood-glucose and triglycerides(sugar and fat) levels.
So yes.
Water is better.

Yes! It may seem fine for you, with no sugar or carbs or calories or fat, but it's really bad! How do you think they get it to taste good and be "just fine" for you?!?! Chemicals!!! Asperteme, a sugar substitute!!! Asperteme is very bad for you because it's an artificial chemical that can make you sick( and even temperairaly blind!!!) Artificial sweeteners break down embalming fluid and woodgrain alcohol in you!!! It's especially bad when warm. One day scientists will find out exactly what it does and you will be sorry you drank it. They don't know for sure now, but rumors are it can cause cancer! Good luck , I hoped this helped!

It has aspartame in it, that's what replaces the sugar. Which is bad for you. :)
So you might as well drink the whole sugar filled pop, then the diet stuff. It all has its cons.
