It's really very simple.

There are 2 categories of workouts and you only need to focus on one of those for weight loss.

1. Resistance training - weight lifting, sit-ups, push-ups, etc.

2. Cardiovascular Training - walking/running, swimming, jumping jacks, dancing to the oldies, etc.

You need only to focus on #2 for weight loss. #1 is good for muscle tone but does little for weight loss.

Cardiovascular exercises are simple and you don't need any fancy equipment. For successful weight loss, all you need to do is any body movements that get your heart rate higher than normal. That's what cardiovascular workouts are all about. They simply get your heart rate up and burn off fat.

You will need to keep your heart rate up for longer than 20 minutes per session in order to achieve a successful burn. The body takes that much time to warm up and begin the burn. Any huffy-puffy activity will work such as walking, running, going up and down stairs, vigorous dancing, jumping rope, just anything that makes you huff and puff. That's the key - huff and puff for over 20 minutes a session. This is how your body burns off fat.

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR FOR ADVICE ON THE SAFEST WORKOUT FOR YOU.

Don't get discouraged!

Contrary to popular TV, there is no such thing as "targeting" an area of your body for weight loss. The reality is that you will see the fattest part of your body lose weight last! You will notice it first in your face. The thickest fat is the last to go so don't lose heart if you don't see your “targeted area” going anywhere at first.

Simply create a huffy-puffy workout for yourself that lasts over 20 minutes per session and stick to a daily routine for best results.

Another tip is don't rely on what the scales say everyday. That will discourage you. The better way to monitor your progress is to observe your clothes getting looser. The scales can be misleading because as you lose weight, typically you are also building muscle mass. This dual change may look like you are not losing fat when you actually are.

Checking your heart rate. Take your fingers of your left hand and place them about an inch to the right of the center of your right hand wrist as it faces palm up. This should be at your right-hand wrist below your thumb. You should feel a pulse there. Now count the number of beats in a 6 second period. Multiply that number by 10 and that's your heart rate. A reasonably safe and effective heart rate during an exercise burn is about 120 for most people 30–50 years old.

A bland diet will speed the weight loss up for sure. But if you're like me, starting a daily exercise program plus starting a bland diet is just too emotionally stressful (wink, wink). So, I say, for those of us who want some type of reward for working out everyday, continue enjoying your favorite foods - just cut your portions down. Train yourself to learn when you are satisfied as you eat a meal and stop eating at that point rather than eating until you feel full. You'll be surprised at how early in the meal you are satisfied. So, just stop eating at that point. Make a habit of it.

I am a 52 year old male and I am using a programmed treadmill which uses a combination walk/ 5 mph. run workout for 30 minutes a day. I am losing 2-3 pounds a week just doing that and cutting my favorite food portions back the way I mentioned before. My peak heart rate during this routine is 140. (Just telling you this in hopes that it will give you some idea of what 30 minutes a day will do for you so you can adjust your workout to suit your targeted weight loss time frame.)

i advise you to drink Green Tea 1-3 glasses per day
Green Tea speeds up your metabolism
drink lots and lots of water 8 glasses each day.
do not snack
do not eat 6 meals a day, try to only eat 3
if you are really hungry and you've had all your daily meals snack on fruits ( oranges, apples, bananas )
exercise more try and run for at least 30 minutes a day
get more active
get more sleep it prepares your body
stretch, yes it works and it doesn't just help you lose weight it helps with you're growing to make you a little taller
count your calories try to stay under the amount of 1300 calories per day
change you're lifestyle it makes a difference
do not eat candy or chips eat more greens or protein bars
avoid fast food and cut out fried food when you cook your meal oven cook your food do not fry it
chew gum because when you chew gum you do not pick at food for example if theres some chips in you're cupboard you go to them a think good damn they look good then you would say no i cant pick at them because i dont wanna throw my gum away
do not eat after 6pm because before 6pm you can burn all you're food off and if you eat after six it will lay on you're stomach as you eat.
do not eat before you go to sleep
drink a glass of water before you go to sleep
eat spicy food, if you can because it speeds up you're metabolism
do not weigh you're self everyday because it torments you,weight you're self once a week ( every Monday )

Eat foods that you don't have to chew like mashed potatoes, applesauce, chocolate pudding, cool whip, etc. Look up workouts on YouTube and do them at night. I just got my widom teeth out last Thursday and I've lost 5 pounds. I don't know how quick you're trying to lose it, but it worked for me

if you need to lose weight i suggest wearing big baggy clothes while running to make u sweat more... dint kill yourself by exercising Way too much. eat smaller portions, and make sure to have something small in the morning...

I hate to seem like I'm spamming, and hate to seem cranky about it, but people refuse to understand this.
I'm sorry if this upsets people but the answer to their problems is so simple! i know it's tough to have willpower and stick with this, and I'm no medical professional, but I know the true secret to lose weight and keep it off. It has been around for thousands of years, when mankind existed before the industrial revolution. You want to know the secret? It's the easiest remedy, requires no guesswork, and can take awhile, but is worth the benefits? Suspense gotcha yet?

You really want to know?

OK, the real true way the body was created, to maintain your weight true to your height and build is to....

1) Eat as much unprocessed organic foods as possible. Lay off the prepackaged, starchy, homogenised, refined foods. Fresh fruit, fresh veggies, whole grains, and get as much protein from vegetation. ANYTHING YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO RAISE, GROW OR COOK FROM SCRATCH!! If you must eat meat, eat organic. Or buy from kosher markets. Drink bottled spring water. Fiji water is the best. It might seem more expensive at first, but think of it this way. Would you rather pay into aggravating medical bills stemming from your unhealthy lifestyle, or spend a little more serving you and your family healthy foods your bodies intended to have since the creation of mankind?
Think about it. There wasn't a whole lot of overweight couch potato settlers. They worked for what they had. Physical labor, for meagre earnings, meagre food rationed. yet, they survived. They were their average weight. There was not diabetes, or any strange diseases we see today. Don't believe me? Google it. Which brings me to number 2...

2) Exercise as much as you can. Even if it means short simple walks daily at first. Before all the modernisation of the world we walked, lifted, stooped, knelt, and occasionally ran. The ratio to exercise is burn off at least over half of what you consumed the previous day. Normal brain functions, stress, everyday activities besides exercise burns off the rest, and doesn't deposit as fat.

If you aren't healthy enough for physical activities, I urge you to cut out the prepackaged foods, and corn syrup laden drinks, and eat more natural foods. I guarantee you will lose weight from just doing that, than relying on herbal teas or any nutritional supplements you found that say "AS SEEN ON TV". Marketing gimmicks won't make you be healthy. ITS ONLY UP TO YOU!

how fast we talking? cuz there is a rate thats UNHEALTHY and those pills no matter how natural and awesome they seem are going to kill u, or at the very least, make u gain back MORE weight once u get off of them. just cut the calories and exercise.

Theres a lot of diets out there but you dont want too lose weight fast for its bad for your over all health, do it sencesable not try too lose no more than 2or3 pounds a week. I have 5 suggest that will help you,1 write down eveything you eat and how much, like Tablespoon 1/2 cup raw vegetables salada and three fruits a day,just example but eat a balances diet and eat three basic meals a day, stay away from junk foods and processes foods these thing will all help you too lose weight, but in order too keep it off you must watch what you eat how much and when,and how you eat your food matters also,and the exercises you do ,about exercise make it fun and your be able too make it a habit,like dressing, school ,work, home.you dont need a gym ,go for a walk with a friend or ride abike or jump rope ,or anything you enjoy doing just keep moving not skip meals . hope it help you. good luck.

The best thing to do is have a balanced diet. Never stop eating as that has been proved it doesn't work. Just cut out all the fatty foods and sugary snacks. Don't eat between meals. Just eat healthly food. Make sure you have at least 5 peices of fruit a day. Pasta is a good healthy meal.

you can't just sit around and lose weight, you have to go for a run, walk, cut out the booze, cut out the carbs and calories.

There is no healthy way to lose weight fast. Losing more than 2 pounds a week is probably not healthy for you.

Eating right and exercising is your best option.

Do lots of cardio (at least 30 minutes a day) like jogging, swimming, rollerblading, etc. Anything to keep you physically active. ALWAYS stretch your muscles before AND after you workout to prevent injury.

Cut back on food with Trans fat and saturated fat. This includes greasy foods like chips, cakes, candy, etc.

Speed up your metabolism by eating more than 3 meals a day, but in smaller portions.

Cut back on SODA and FAST FOOD! This is a must if you want to lose weight. You do not need to be "lovin' it" everyday, nor do you need to "wake up with the king" every morning.

And please do not become bulimic. "Refunding" your food will only do harmful things to your body.

Trent the guy that wrote you this stuoid thing never do it okay it will kill you I know that my frienf die from doing that so dont do it just dont eat to much and run every day for 10 m. thats what I do and I lose weight first you will like run for 3 to 5 m. but then you will run longer and eat healthy food like fruit and dont drink pop drink water you know pop is bad you get from it more pounds then from food .

The only healthy and effective way to loose weight is to eat healthily and exercise. Any over the counter product that offers a quick fix is either a sham, unhealthy, or both. Find out your BMR (Basal metobolic rate) online, and find out what your ideal calorie intake is. Doctors recommend losing about 1-2 pounds per week. Anything more than that is unhealthy.
