You need to eat at least 1200 calories a day to maintain your body functioning. Eating only 400-500 calories a day you're seriously risking hurting your metabolism. By sending your body into starvation mode you're actually making your body retain more fat. You need to change your eating habits for healthy weight loss. With regular exercise and eating 1200-1500 calories a day you would lose 1lb a week. I'm 5'7 142lbs and i've lost a lot of weight with this system.

you will gain eventually if you undereat.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

You don't need to lose much if any depending on your bone structure. Don't go on a diet like that, it will put you in the hospital. That is real starvation. Go on a sensible diet if you really want to lose weight. Eat at least 1000-1200 calories a day.

That is not good for you at alll... your body will start to shut down and will go into starvation mode.

Thats a great way to end up in the hospital.

If you wanna lose weight go with a sensible diet and stick to it. There is no need to jeopardize your health for a couple of pounds. Why does everyone wanna lose weight just to "look good" When are people going to realize that its not about whats on the outside but its really about whats on the inside.

For starters, you are not consuming enough calories. Your body will probably go into starvation mode at some point, and you may actually find yourself gaining weight, or at the very least, not losing any weight. You can also screw up your menstrual periods, not to mention what you are doing to your metabolism and the rest of your body. It is good that you are drinking a lot of water and exercising, but you need to increase your caloric intake to around 1000-1200 calories per day, depending on how much and what type of exercising you are doing. You would be better off to increase your caloric intake and eat 4-6 small meals per day. This way you keep your metabolism regulated.

im 5'7 and 125 and i did the same thing u did it really screws up ur body i was also bumlic but i didnt eat over 500 calories . I think that you should at least eat 800 and keep exercising and drinking water u will start to lose weight but i think that you should do it more healther and dont worry about it to much it will go away it just takes some time i was 161 and now im 125 just work at it and in a few months u will be thinner

chances are you will lose a lot of weight at first but then you it will stop, your not getting enough calories or carbs into your body. You will make yourself ill, you will become weak, you will become moody, you wont have the energ to workout anymore, you will lose muscle mass, if your female the chances are that your periods will stop also.

drinking lots of water is great for the body, it gets rid of toxins and clears the system. not eating the right amout of food is dangerous. Over time your body will start storing fat from the food that you do eat even if it is healthy food, so chances are that you will gain weight. If the body isnt getting enough fuel it will store fat, just like people who dont eat regularly, the body will store the fat because it doesnt now when it will have the fuel it needs again.

also when you do start eating again, even if it is healthy foods, your matabalism will have changed so the body wont need as much as what your eating even if it is small amounts, and will again start storing fats, which means you will have more body fat than you had before.

best thing to do is eat healthy NOT a diet, a diet has to end where as healthy eating doesnt. Team that with regualr exercise and over time you will lose the weight, dont worry about only losing 1 - 2lbs a week, the slower the weight comes off the better chance it has of staying off.

I dont think its very good to starve yourself. Try eating more fruit and vegetables and keep junk away. take nice runs around your neighbor hood or in the park or where ever's good for you. tredmill and bike riding helps too

Holy cow! I ate a butterfinger AND a crunch bar. That is not good. You have to eat so many calories or your body will begin to store ANYTHING you eat.

You are definitely eating too few calories. Women should never eat lower than a 1,200 calorie diet. I would recommend meeting with a registered dietitian who can write you an exchange diet Plan. If you don't know where to find a dietitian, check with you local hospital-many offer outpatient dietitian appointments.

If you eat too little calories your body will protect itself by not burning enough calories. It would probably be better to eat a little more quality food and still exercise. You could probably lose 10 to 15 lbs safely even by increasing your calories some.

it depends on how hard you train (workout) but i guess that`s the fastest way to loose half your body-weight possible in less than 6 months and its kinda unhealthy too i`ve done that before but with 1000 calories/day and i must say that after you`ll quit your diet and youll stop working out every day u`ll gain it back double time but u decide if your like me and you dont give a damn about your health its your choice........going to the gym and training 1 or 2 hours a day will stop you from gaining fat but not weight (more n bigger muscles from working out = more weight and less fat) but for that you have to eat at least 1500-2000 calories/day (just dont eat fatty foods,junk food,chocolate bars and other stuffs like that)

Please increase your caloric intake to 1200 calories a day. The caloric intake you are reporting is dangerously low, and although you may loose weight you will be miserable.

Your BMI is a healthy 23.8 - Meaning you are not fat. You should stop this dangerous diet.

If you MUST loose weight:

Eat 1200 calories a day. This way you should loose 1-2 pounds a week. Or 4 - 8 pounds in one month. These numbers will vary on how well you stick to a 1200 calorie diet, how much excersice you performed and you metabolism. This is the best way to loose weight.

You should not weigh less than 130 lbs.

You will get ill. The body has to have more calories then what you are consuming to function. In fact, your body will slow down its matabolism to try to hold in the nutrients it can. The only thing you may lose in a month is your life.
Go to a nutritionist and they can put you on a perfect diet for you or see Jenny Craig, Nutisystem, Weight Watchers , etc They have excellent track records.

it depends on your current level of body fat. the higher your body fat percentage the more muscle you will lose when your body is in starvation mode. the body will use up all stored sugars, then muscle before it taps into fat stores when in starvation mode.

starving the body is the exact opposite of what is required for the body to increase the metabolism and to burn a higher rate of stored fats for use as energy.

First of all that amount of calories is ridiculous! Your body will eat it's own muscle to live and you are defeating your purpose of looking and feeling good! There is a book called Body for Life or Body for Life for Women or any Joyce L. Vedral book. Go to your library or visit a Barnes and Noble if you can afford to! Walking is free, so are pushups, pullups and crunches! Please don't limit your calories to 400-500 a day for more than 3 days. And all those calories better be protein. Chicken, any fish including tuna and very lean red meat. The best way to lose fat is to build muscle. Women (girls) cannot build disgusting big muscles so don't even think you can. If you're 5'7" you are not overweight. Your BMI is what you should be considering. Body Mass Index is what everyone in the fitness industry watches! Go to ww.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi and you'll see that you are in the healthy range. You're probably just not tone enough to be happy with what you see in the mirror. It sounds like you are determined to lose a little so walk or jog and lift some weights and make sure you eat protein at every meal along with vegetables and fruit. Drinking water is good but don't overdo it. Your body will thank u! You'll look and feel better by the end of your month. Michael Thurmond is also a good guy to pay attention to. He can reshape bodies in just a few weeks! I think they all have websites. Get healthy and be good to your body, you only get one! Be good to yourself always! Don't let anyone tell you that eating that little amount of calories is good for you. If you can, visit a gym, ask about body fat and nutrition. Ask a PE teacher for some advice. Ask your doctor or nurse for guidance because you need to be realistic. If you eat about 1500 calories and exercise you will lose about 8-10 lbs in the first month without losing muscle. But the calories you consume can't be processed junk! After that, since you only have a little to lose you'll probably only lose about a pound a week. But if you reshape your body with weights you'll be astounded at how good you can look and feel! Good luck!

You will lose a lot and become ill. A healthy adult needs more calories, any where from 1200 -2000 a day. And if you are 5'7 and 152lbs you do not need to lose an excessive amount of weight. You should consult either your doctor or nutritionist before you continue on you diet.

wow only 400-500 calories? thats unhealthy. water is good for boosting metabolism. it all depends on how much excercise. also, eating less isn't always the best or the healthiest. good balanced nutrition, and excercise is the best combo.

3500 calories is a lb of fat i believe. so if u eat 500 calories less than u normally do a day, then thats 3500 calories less u consume that one wk. so if u do that, then u would lose a pound a wk. losing 1 or two pounds a wk is a healthy goal. also, what sorts of excercise do u do? running and swimming are the best cardio excercises. crunches and situps are also good.

You might lose your life. You probably wont lose much weight. Because your calorie intake is so low your body will go into starvation mode and try to hold onto all the fat and calories it can. Good luck with that....

limiting your caloric intake to 500-600 calories per day is unsafe even if you drink lots of water. Please increase your calories to 1200 per day and keep exercising and drinking cold water. the safe level to lose fat would be 1-2 pounds per week. anything more than that can cause damage to muscle and internal organs.

thats not healthy. you are putting your liver and heart under serious strain. up your intake to at least 1000 cals a day or risk heart failure. also bear in mind losing anything over 2lbs a week is most likely water.

You'll end up dead. You need 1200 calories MINIMUM a day, even if you're trying to lose weight. If you want to lose weight, do it the right and smart way. Eat healthier with smaller portions, and don't overdo the exercise (approx. 30-40 minutes of cardio a day).
