It sounds like you may have an issue with your Thyroid. You should talk to your doctor about your weight gain. I have a Thyroid problem, and I have a lot of the same issues, it's only in my stomach, and people don't think I weigh as much as I do because my face, arms, and legs are not fat. I'm also very active, and never changed my diet, but I would gain like 30 pounds in 1 week (not joking). My parents took me to a Dr when I was 11 because of it. I got on a pill and since then I've gone threw periods of loosing weight and maintaining the weight loss-- until I went to college lol. Then I gained a little back.
I'd try a different DR then.

If you keep thinking your gonna go to doctors of soemthing use this formula
BMI = 704 x Weight (in pounds)/Height² (in inches)
* Below 18.5: Underweight
* 18.5 - 24.9: Healthy Weight
* 25 - 29.9: Overweight
* 30 and Above: Obese
You'll probably be relieved if you do this formula

YOUR DOCTOR TOOK YOU OFF OF YOUR Thyroid HORMONES. NOOOOOOO... Girl, you need those, everyday, for the rest of your life. Hypothyroidism is about as curable as diabetes. It is like a doctor telling a diabetic to stop taking their insulin because their blood sugar is in check. Well of course it is in check, BECAUSE they take their insulin. Your body does not produce as much Thyroid hormone as your brain tells it to, period. There are cases where people with Thyroid problems have their levels fluctuate for various reasons and need their Rx adjusted. But it sounds like your doctor made you stop cold turkey.
please please please research hypothyroidism. Buy a book, there are some great ones out there. And get a new doctor, and if your parents don't think you need one, have them learn about hypothroidism.
Your problem could be due to any number of things and I agree with a lot of the advise given here, but I really agree with those who say you should have your Thyroid tested. It is called a THS test- this will measure how much hormone your Thyroid is producing- and this hormone controls the speed of your Thyroid. Are you also experiencing digestion problems, constant fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, coldness... Again- don't get your hopes up, you are pretty young to be have hypothyroidism. But it is a simple $50 blood test- but be prepared for your doctor to talk you out of the test- some doctors do not "believe" that hypothyroidism is as common as it is.
Also, buy one of those books that show the calorie amounts of fast food. It can really show you what can pack on the pounds and what isn't so bad for you. (Dairy Queen chicken strip basket is over 1000 calories! McDonald's vanilla ice cream cone is only 150!)

Firstly, please don't panic. If you truly want to lose weight, and it sounds like you do, then you WILL lose weight. The central key to losing weight is burning MORE calories than you consume everyday. Drinking 5 bottles of water a day, is impressive, and well done. Firstly, eat breakfast. I suggest a small bowl of healthy cereal, something like cornflakes, they're not expensive, with skim milk or even low fat Soy milk. And a peice of fruit. You need to feel full throughout the day to carry you through till lunch, that's why a big AND healthy breakfast is so important. For lunch, take a small salad to school, and drink as much water as you can throughout the day. Dinner. Should be the smallest meal of all, steamed veggies or a salad are best. Even boiled veggies, even though sometimes all the goodness from the veggies is drained into the water. Don't eat past 7.30pm. THAT'S the biggest tip I can give you. Your body needs time to digest, this is crucial. Get atleast 8-9 hours of asleep a night. You burn calories when you're sleeping. But don't sleep overally, as it will have the reverse effect. Excercising, well I don't think I need to elaborate too much on that. You should be trying for atleast 30 minutes a day of excercise. Jogging is excellent, anything that gets your heart rate up is a advantage, but HEY, don't like jogging? That's OK, if you're heavy it can effect your knees, so a brisk walk will ACTUALLY have closely the same amount of calorie burn as jogging. Swimming is good, but it makes you hungry, so have a bottle of water ready.
This is a lot of info. but I assure you, follow it and you will see some good results. Goodluck with it all.

First of all just take a deep breath. You need to approach this a little different. You have been dieting all your life and that is mistake number one. Eating sensible doesn't need to break the bank. Calories in vs calories out. You need to eat less and burn more. 4-5 small meals a day and make them well rounded and not crap. Secondly. If you want to lose weight there is not an easy route. You have to work hard at it and being very active is part of it. If you REALLY want to lose this weight than you need to set aside 1-1 1/2 hours 5-6 days a week. It costs you nothing to go for a walk(working up to a jog, working up to a run, working up to an interval hill). You can also do some strength training that is home based. Right now using your own body weight is sufficient enough to get the job done. push-ups, sit-ups, partial standing squats, lunges(if your knees can handle the pressure), band work. You just have to make the effort to get there. You can do it. Just do it the right way. Remember that it didn't take you 1 yr to put on an extra 160lbs, so plan on taking 18-19 months to successfully lose this extra weight and keep it off.

honestly stick to eating right with salads and protein
you should be okay
but you have to work out
every day force yourself to do some cardio
abs
and stretching
youll look better and feel better about yourself
good luck
if you hate your stomach set a goal for yourself
for example:
start off with 100 situps every night
if you do that well reward yourself with a 100 calorie pack of cookies
and every two weeks increase the amt of situps you do
120 130 140 etc
:)

First of all you should have a physical exam done by a doctor. Explain this to your doctor. You may have another problem going on that could be causing the weight such as a Thyroid problem. If it isnt another problem then the only thing you can do is eat small healthy meals (veggies whenever you can) and exercise a lot. At least 1 hour every day or every other day. Dont get surgery it is not a real solution. Gastric bypass surgery is more mental than physical. What they do is make a person's stomach so small they can only eat small fist sized amounts of food several times a day. And you know what? You can do that right now without having surgery. And if the person who has the surgery binges one day their stomach cant handle it and they could die. However if a person like you who doesnt have the surgery you could binge one day and nothing drastic would happen. Diets dont work. The word diet just means whatever you eat. What you need to do is talk to a doctor and get counseling if possible about your weight. Try weight watchers meetings or work with a personal trainer if possible at a local gym. You just need to eat healthy and exercise a lot.

All I can say is keep drinking water, and carefully watch what you eat. Avoid eating while doing other things... (it just makes you forget and overeat accidentally), and eat very healthily. By that I mean no junk food. By junk food I mean pretty much anything that comes in a brightly colored package or that you're unable to imagine how it was made. It's possible... the best of luck to you!

you can get on weight watchers it is not a diet..it is a way of living and its all about portion control.I am on it and i love it..and we do not have alot of money for expensive meals either,if that doesn't work than there is something else going on there..because i swear by weight watchers it is great and again..NOT a diet,i have lost 25-30 pnds in about 5 months that's about 5 pnds a month and your not losing too fast,but ut seems to go quick because its not something that is too hard to do and if u are bad for a week you don't get fat again all the sudden,the weight stays off because portion control makes u eat less and starts to shrink your stomach..also you can eat some things that are fatty it just has to be with in your points,because we are not made to just eat good all the time your body needs some crap every once in awhile too. AND,You may have something wrong with your Thyroid or there are so many other things it could be,so you may wanna get checked out.Good Luck!! I hope something works for you,whatever u choose to do next.

That is actually very scary. It does not sound like it is anything that you are doing. I would check with a Dr. Not to scare you but this could be serious. Perhaps it is a Thyroid thing or I have seen people who are seriously overweight due to large tumors in there stomach. I am so sorry. I don't want to freak you out, but I would definitely see a doc so that they can tell you what they think. They may be able to recommend something for you.

It takes about 2 weeks for the body to recognize that it isn't eating as much and the pounds start to slide off.
don't eat after 7 pm and give the body a rest and chance to use up some of the calories it had during the day
I found Dr Mao on Yahoo Health
Here are six simple tips that will have you losing weight in a balanced and healthy way.
1. Lose weight with water.
Water is essential for everybody - it is also the key to losing weight. If you haven't been drinking enough water, your body has developed a pattern of storing water. This water retention equals extra unwanted weight.
By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day. Boil water and sliced lemons, and drink this throughout the day to help with fluid retention. If you are still not sold on the merits of water, try this on for size: water is a natural appetite suppressant.
2. Soup up your weight loss program.
A simple dietary change will have you shedding pounds: eat a bowl of soup at least once a day. Nutritious, low-salt soups will nourish you as they flush waste from your body. People who eat a serving of soup daily lose more weight than those who eat the same amount of calories but don't eat soup. Go for homemade soup whenever possible, as canned soups are loaded with salt and chemicals.
3. Eat early to keep weight off.
The human body follows a circadian rhythm, which means that the same foods eaten at breakfast and lunch are processed differently than when eaten at dinner. Studies show that when you eat your daily protein and fat at breakfast you tend to lose weight and have more energy; however, eating the same things at dinner tend to increase tendencies toward weight gain. I suggest that you eat your last meal of the day by 7 p.m.
4. Eat smaller meals, more frequently.
Follow an eating schedule with five little meals every day. Eating steadily through the day keeps you from becoming famished and overeating at your next meal. Make a low-fat trail mix from raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, dried plum, and apples and have it available at all times to avoid the tempting lure of high-calorie snacks.
5. Adopt a balanced approach to your diet.
Most of the fad diet programs out there nowadays are extreme in a few recommended foods, or else deprive the body of food altogether. This works in opposition to our metabolism and the results usually don't last, producing a yoyo effect that depresses your metabolic function - not to mention your self-esteem. We are natural beings that need a balance of nutrition from all sources.
Your diet should consist of a balance of organic sources of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Instead of white rice and pasta, opt for brown rice, bulgur, millet, or buckwheat.
Eat more green, Chlorophyll-rich foods such as broccoli, kale, spinach, and Asparagus. Eliminate candy, sugar, soda, and all simple sugars from your diet. Excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain. Also, keep dairy to a minimum because most dairy products are high in saturated fat. Avoid fatty foods, processed or fried foods.
6. Walk off the weight.
The No. 1 cause of weight gain is inactivity. Physical activity is the key to speeding up your metabolism and burning excess calories. The best way to be physically active is to use your legs! Walk as often and as long as you can. Always take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Step outside during your break at work and take a walk around your building. Consider joining a local hiking club. Try taking a walk 30 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes in the early evening.
I hope this article helps you shed some pounds and add on the years! I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.
May you live long, live strong, and live happy!

If you are active and eat somewhat healthy you shouldn't be that heavy. You should see a doctor, there could be an underlying problem that's making you overweight. You don't need gourmet to eat healthy. Just eat whole grains (like brown rice), proteins (from nuts, beans, legumes), vegetables, lean meats, fish, and fruits. The more fresh (including frozen) and unprocessed foods, the better.
If you aren't satisfied with the answers you're getting from your current doctor, get a second opinion and go to another one!
